Dyson is very heavy to push and pull, no power assist. Does not adjust to expensive deep pile carpet. Dyson does vacuum very well constantly and pulls up dirt other vacuums leave behind but it will build up muscles in your arms to use it.

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: good suction, gets closer to baseboards than previous Dyson, glides easily between carpet and wood floors, and light weight Cons: feels cheaply made, buttons don’t easily engage, doesn’t lock into upright position easily (makes a clicking sound like it’s locked into upright position then falls over), hard to remove wand, attachments don’t stay in their slots, cumbersome not easy to maneuver I loved my last Dyson. Do not love this one.

We would not expect to hear that your vacuum feels flimsy or cheaply made. Dyson machines are made from polycarbonate ABS, which is same material used in riot shields and crash helmets. They are tough, so we subject them to 50,000 hours of testing and 550 individual tests – all to ensure that they can withstand a lifetime’s hard use. With regard to your machine not locking in to place, if you're hearing two clicks - one from the wheels of the vacuum going into place and one from the wheels locking into place, there could be an issue with a blockage in your internal hose, or an issue with the stabilizer wheels itself. I had a 12 year old dyson that I thought still did really good. Purchased this one and made my old carpet look amazing. Pulled so much dog hair that I really didn't know was still there. Great buy.

I was a little surprised by the design of the hose and wand as it could certainly be better and easier to put away. We have to dump the dirty often.

I have read great reviews and Dyson products just look interesting all together! I finally broke down and purchased this expensive Dyson product. Ive always been a Shark user. Mainly bc they are cheaper and still get the job done. So to say i was thrilled to pick up my Dyson would be an under statement! We have 4 dogs, 2 kids, 2 sets of stairs, carpet, rugs and hardwood floors. So I needed a vacuum cleaner that was versatile. I thought this was going to be the one! My first impression was that it was extremely heavy but i was totally fine with that bc I had read that it would be easy to maneuver bc it had the ball. It was not at all easy to turn! The handle went from side to side very easily but the actual head/roller would not turn when i moved the handle from side to side! I had to basically force the head/roller to turn and when i did it slid on the hardwood instead of rolled easily. Still trying to be optimistic i went to the stairs and thought this will do great! The hose is extremely long and the cord is extremely long so vacuuming the steps is going to be easier than ever! NOPE! I was let down again. Having 4 dogs that shed ALOT, the fur collects on each step so i have to vacuum often. My steps are hardwood with Deans carpet tread on each step. With and without the attachment the Dyson did not pick the hair up very well. On top of that the vacuum cleaner base kept falling over at the bottom of the steps. The hose kept twisting up even though i had only walked straight up a few steps. Having this extremely long hose is useless if i can't use it on the stairs without fighting it from twisting and base falling over! At this point Im not impressed but Im thinking maybe i was doing something wrong. I read the manual again and read the description on Best Buy and Dyson website. I read every Q&A and review. Still trying to be optimistic. I tried once again on the hardwood and still it does not turn without force. The only thing i can say good about this vacuum cleaner is that the cord is very long and that helps when vacuum multiple rooms. Every other quality that this Dyson vacuum was supposed to have was a let down. At one point i thought, Dyson was the best but just too expensive for me to ever own one. Now either Dyson isn't so great after all or I have a defective vacuum cleaner and the ball doesn't work properly. Is that possible? Should i just stick to Shark? Should i return it and try another Dyson vacuum??

The Dyson Ball Animal offers 270 air watts of powerful suction, along with our Dyson Ball technology, which makes it easier to steer into different places with a simple turn of a wrist. Your machine will also feature a wand and extension hose for use with cleaning up high, under furniture and in hard to reach areas. Attachments may be used on both the wand as well as directly on the hose for added versatility.
With regard to the hose, I can confirm that we would essentially expect the hose to become more flexible with time and use. A few tips we can provide would be attaching your accessories directly to your hose, as this will also help expedite stretching the elasticity of the hose. Dyson vacuums are engineered with versatility in mind and attachments may be used on either the wand or directly on the machine itself for added convenience. Also, when stretching the hose out we would recommend starting by stretching the part of the hose that is nearest to the vacuum first when extending this part to clean your home. We would actually recommend checking to ensure the wand is not obstructed and that the hose is not sucking into itself as the hose is not something we would expect to be an issue during use.

Great vacuum!

My first is still working as expected after 10 years, but the new one allows me to not have to carry up and down the stairs. I like the lighter weight of the ball and the new fan attachment.
