I mostly bought this as a gift for my mom. She has two decrepit old vacuums, one 15+ years old and only good for vacuuming the filthy mudroom while sounding like a low-flying aircraft, the other an ancient bag Kirby that worked fairly well but was as heavy and complicated as an old Volkswagen. My mother was very against buying a new vacuum, no matter how many times I suggested it. So once I was in a position where I could afford it, I decided to buy one for her. I have used a Dyson Ball for one of my housecleaning jobs and loooove it for its versatility, ease of use and simple maintenance. So I actively sought out one for my mother because I knew she would like it. This vacuum is simple to put together, simple to take apart for any maintenance, and soooo simple to use. One of my mom’s reasons for having multiple vacuums was that they couldn’t all be used on all surfaces: she felt the one was too powerful to work on her throw rugs, the other not powerful enough for the carpet, and neither of them were easy to use on hardwood or dusting, so those things rarely got done. After a couple times using this model, my mother said how glad she was to be able to do the entire first floor of her house with a single machine; not too hard on her throw rugs, very effective on the carpet, easy to transition from carpet to floor, and equally easy to use the hose and attachments. I love this vaccuum so much!! My sister didnt believe me how great it was. She tried it out and couldnt get over how it picked up everything. She is now buying one. Expensive, but worth the money.

I have been very pleased so far with this vacuum. I’ve had it long enough to put it through its paces and it comes out very well with our use. We have two cats and two dogs so there’s plenty of dander and hair to pick up. We have carpeted stairs so we’ve used it on them as well. The canister is easy to empty and so far I haven’t observed any giant dust clouds while doing so. The extra switch to turn off the brush roll for hard floors is a nice touch but I’ve found I like to leave it on most of the time anyway on the hardwood floors just to help agitate any dust in the cracks of the boards. We don’t have any hard soils or gravel-ey dirt on them so I’ve not noticed any throwing around of these items that having the brush roll on door would be undesirable. Things I really like are 1) the powered brush head that is self-adjusting or perhaps doesn’t really need adjustment for different carpet heights and 2) the self-storing flexible hose and rigid hose extension. The flexible hose stores very neatly and I believe that even if it got kinked or damaged it would still store neat and proper since the rigid hose extension stores inside the flexible hose. It’s also great that when using the powered floor brush the vacuum flow is diverted so that it does not pass through the flexible hose during floor sweeping. What I don’t care for much is the weight. It is fairly heavy at nearly 20 lbs. and it takes a bit of effort to carry and balance this on stairs when using the flexible hose to clean them. The hose isn’t long enough to reach half a flight of stairs so it’s necessary to carry the vac with you and move it every 3 steps or so. Suction seems to be very adequate and I’ve washed out the canister several times already. It’s simple to break down and clean. So far I have not seen a reason to wash the fabric cone filter but they recommend washing it every 3 months. That seems fine and replacement filters seem to be very reasonably priced. If the filters can be washed a few times then replaced the operating cost will be lower than using bag filters that some vacs do.

It's a Dyson! What else needs saying? Light-weight, easily maneuverable and as the one product in your home you really do want to suck, the Dyson does not disappoint.

Good vacuum it works great but I am afraid every time I go around a table or a couch and I hit the legs i am going to break it. It just doesn't feel sturdy. It feel it is made of cheap materials

This was a sale of older model. but the price on deal of day 199 was to good to pass up . Dyson puts out very good products . this was no exception. great suckion . little heavy but overall very happy with puechase.

This thing has impressed me the first week we have had it. I gave it four starts because we just got it. I have bought your average $80 vacuum every few years. We still have the old vacuum for the basement. It still kinda works, but is just so loud, doesn't pick up that great, and just gets to be annoying.

Lightweight and easy to use. This vacuum is great a picking up dog hair and anything in it’s path.

Since our old vacuum stopped working we were looking to replace or with a reliable one. After a few searches decided to go with this one. Nice vacuum, great suction. I guess emptying the bin a lot means it's working.

Wish I had gotten one sooner. Awesome! A friend had gotten one and actually brought it over to show what a great job it can do!

This vacuum has great suction. It even made my carpet look newer. The canister is easy to empty. I haven't needed to clean the filter yet, but I suspect that will be fairly easy as well. Best vacuum I've owned yet.

I purchased this vacuum cleaner on sale at $199.99 courtesy of Best Buy sale. Really happy with the price. I like it's suction and the way it's designed smartly. The only thing I don't like is sometimes the dust gathers near the ball or the outside of the dust container.

This is the second Dyson I've owned. The first one worked well on a hard wood floor then I lost it to my mother-in-law when we moved to Boston. The second one is a step above what we had and equally as strong...

I love Dyson vacuums. This is our 2nd. The first still works, but was 12 years old and we broke a plastic piece and over the years more of that piece would break and now the handle doesn't stay on. The amount of dirt it takes out of your carpet will amaze you! The attachments work great! They are pricey, but I always gt them on sale so I feel the price is not an issue.

I have been searching for a good buy in a Dyson cleaner and found one at Best Buy. I must say that it measures up to the hype. even my cleaning ladies who come in once every two weeks have said it's a winner.

Vacuum is very light and easy to maneuver. I was little upset it wasn’t put together when I opened the box but it is super easy to assemble. Couple of clicks and you’re done. The suction power is amazing, although I’m not feeling the attachment Handle. It is a very odd design and is awkward going on and coming off. I was a little disappointed the cord isn’t retractable too. For an original price of 400 bucks it should be. I only paid 199.00 on sale so can’t complain. It’s a great vacuum, not too loud either

My wife loves this vacuum. She Says it's the bomb diggity. She didn't really say that but I can see it all over her face. Strong suction and cleans up every mess my two year old throws at it. Bring it on!

Was going to buy one of the Dyson stick vacuums but was concerned about battery life. Glad we chose this vacuum! UNBELEIVABLE what this thing picks up!!

I had wanted to buy a Dyson for a while, but never could pull the trigger on paying full price for it. I finally caught it right when this was on-sale and I also had some Reward Zone GC's and a gift card to use on it. I will say that it takes a few minutes to un-box and put together, but once it's done you're good to go. Easy to use and does a great job at getting the dirt out of your carpets and also moves around really easily in tight/small spaces.

This vacuum is the most powerful cleaning machine ever. No mess, no fussing with filters, open it with a click of a thumb, dump the dirt in the trash and you are done. Since getting this vacuum I have been actually excited about vacuuming and have been doing it everyday. My carpet looks cleaner because this vacuum pulls out all the dirt other fancy vacuums have been leaving behind over the years. Get it, you will not be sorry. Worth every penny.
