The plastic tube cracked off, and the kickstand to make it stand up and lock upright is finicky. The motor and suction was ok but the overall quality is just really bad and it got clogged up a few times as well. Going back to shark brand.

My old Dyson DC-14 of about 10 years finally died on me, so I decided to replace it with another. I was pretty excited to see what had changed in the last 10 years, but I'm not sure everything was for the better. Pros: I like the low profile head on this vacuum as compared to the older models, it can get under stuff easily like my couch. I also like the ball, (although it takes a little getting used to), it turns on a dime. There's also no complaining about the suction power of this Dyson, it is a beast at what it does. I use it on carpet and tile, the self leveling head is nice for going from one to the other and back again. Cons: I absolutely hate the attachment hose. The hose on my old Dyson ripped open after a while and I get the feeling this will eventually too. I also hate having to push a button to extend and put back the extension wand, as well as doing the same when having to put on an attachment. To me it just seems overly complicated and it's a bit of a time waster when I only want to use it for a quick second. Another thing that drives me nuts is that sometimes the canister just falls off. This would happen to my old Dyson as well, I have no idea why this is so. Finally, when vacuuming and putting the unit back into an upright position, sometimes it doesn't take on the first try. You're supposed to push it forward until it clicks, but a lot of times it doesn't stay and it'll be interesting to see how that holds up over time. Overall it's a great vac, it just has a few annoyances that get under my skin.

In regards to the hose, I can confirm that we would essentially expect the hose to become more flexible with time and use. A few tips we can provide would be attaching your accessories directly to your hose, as this will also help expedite stretching the elasticity of the hose. Dyson vacuums are engineered with versatility in mind and attachments may be used on either the wand or directly on the machine itself for added convenience. Also, when stretching the hose out we would recommend starting by stretching the part of the hose that is nearest to the vacuum first when extending this part to clean your home. We would actually recommend checking to ensure the wand is not obstructed and that the hose is not sucking into itself as the hose is not something we would expect to be an issue during use.

My vacuum left so much on the floor had to repeat 2 and 3 times. Was more work for me. I would not recommend.

Way over stated product.

In short we have had many vacuum cleaners and I must state, our Orecks were much more user friendly and cleaned as well or better.. Will probably not buy another Dyson.

Sent it to Dyson and they replaced it with a new one but still have the same issue with the motor getting extremely hot to the touch. Even the carpet gets warm when vacuuming and we do not have very thick or long carpet.
