All i can say is WOW. This really is the Mercedes of vacuums. I bought this Dyson for my parents during black friday and they were kind of skeptical why i spent so much money on a vacuum. I do agree that $399 is pretty steep for a vacuum. But after watching online reviews and reading reviews, i knew this would be the perfect gift. Right away my parents were super impressed. They have a 6,000 square foot house so obviously vacuuming is pretty important (not to mention streneous). But they were very impressed with how smooth the vacuum was, it's incredible sucking power (for lack of a better description), and how light it was. The durability of the vacuum and how easy it is to clean was just a plus! I strongly recommend this dyson for fellow vacuumers that like a clean house!

This thing is an awkward pain to use. Had to return it right away. Waste of money.

This may turn out to be a rather lengthy review as I currently have a Gen1 and Gen2 original Dysons. This is replacing the Gen1 which still works fine but is beginning to see broken edges, clips, etc. WHY I LIKE Dysons - Simple - they just SUCK....dirt, debris... you get the point. Although the Gen1 & 2 were purchased as refurbs they have performed flawlessly. This is my first BALL and first NEW (not refurb) style so I'll try to note the differences along the way. First impressions of the NEW.. it is a little heavier but maybe a little flimsier feeling. I'll try to explain. The original design is more straight forward. Solid agitator connected to motor housing with fairly rigid canister and hose assembly attached to make a solid feeling vacuum assembly. While I personally think the "Ball" is a gimmicky engineering concept it proves to ROLL with less input from the user. Cornering is without question easier than the original units. This "Ball" concept inherently requires other parts to be more flexible so the rolling effect or tracking is accomplished withOUT any rigidity. This is why it has a more flimsy feel. With that being said, materials and actual quality build look top notch. Secondly, going back to why Dysons SUCK, this new unit definitely has more suction than either of the originals had when they were new (refurbs). The agitator on this Ball unit literally feels like it is stuck to the ground while the roller brush is PULLING the vacuum forward. Again, requiring very little input from the user except to steer and again with the ball concept very easily done!! Hope this new unit holds up to the 10 or so years that I've had the Gen1.

Sucks the dirt up really well. Bought the product the other day and was amazed by how much it cleaned up my space. ANDD cleaner air from vacuum! So not going back on those cheap vacuums. Newest dyson fan here :) and thanks Best Buy! I got my vacuum $100 off. awesome sauce

Once put together the Dyson vac did not work. I returned it to the store and got my money back.

So this is my first time buying a dyson vacuum and i must say i love it and i've only had it for one day. i used it the first day i brought it home and i was shocked to see how much my previous vacuum was leaving behind. i vacuumed my floors 3 times and every time it was sure to pick up dust. i never thought of getting a dyson before because to be honest i am a little cheap and this vacuum wasnt in that category for me. My husband works in cleaning and he was the one who actually convinced me into getting it. When we were at the store i was still browsing around other brands and thankfully was able to try a bissell and a dyson . After seeing that the bissell couldn't even pick up some staples that were on the floor and the dyson did i was sold. DYSON IT WAS. So far no regrets in paying a few dollars more to ensure a cleaner carpet.

I did extensive research before purchasing. I have an aging Miele canister type which I have no complaints about except for its rug vacuuming ability. I don't have a lot of rugs but the main one gets a lot of traffic in and out from kids, dogs, cats, not to mention parents. Using the Miele, I could get it visually clean, however, when I used the Multi Floor Dyson for the first time on the rug, it literally filled the bin with debris and hair. It did a mind boggling job. Does it work well on hardwood floors? Absolutely, however, because of its bulk, it cannot go under things without the use of the hose extension and the articulating floor brush I purchased separately. The only complaint I currently have is getting used to using the hose. It seems a little tight which is actually a good thing. The Mielie is still around for odds and ends and whose life will undoubtedly be extended by the new addition.

I bought this Dyson because my other Dyson died on me after 13 years. It was the best vacuum I had ever had. This Dyson is a new style and I'm sure it's going to take me a while to get used to it. I've used it twice so far and it's done a great job of picking up. I love the way it fits under furniture and is easily turned in the direction I want to go. The only thing I'm not too sure about it trying to roll it when it's not in use. Once you put it in the standing position, (with my other Dyson all I had to do is lean it on the back wheels and roll it to it's destination) but with this one when I try to lean it back to roll it, it goes back into vacuuming position and makes it harder to roll where I want it to go. Also, the cord is not quite as long as my other Dyson's was. So far, that is my only complaint. Once I use it a little more, I'll come back and comment again.

We have owned our dyson for about 5 years now and nothing else compares we paid about 220 for it brand new. it really never loses suction. other than regular cleaning of the brushes and filters this has been the most powerful bang for your buck you could buy. the only part that failed was the 5$ red ring coupler when i was doing routine maintenance. highly recommend this for anyone!

I love my dyson upright. Its so good and easily switches between hardwood and carpet. It easily moves and the cord is long enough to cover my entire living and dining room.

This vacuum sucks up dirt and hair quickly and powerfully but maneuvers easily and is light weight. It also is slim in design so takes up very little space to store. It is well designed in the storage of cords and attachments as well as the ease of use.

This is the best vacuum I have ever owned. Was little hesitant in the beginning just because of the price but now I realize this is worth every penny. It is so powerful and moves around very smoothly on the floor. Works great on all types of floors and the attachments are very useful.

This vacuum goes above and beyond. Dyson has a very low maintenance, easy to clean vacuum. I don't have to worry about keeping up with bags or belts. I have dogs at home and this pulls all the hair out of the carpet with ease.

This vacuum picks up on my high pile west elm rugs

Been debating on purchasing a Dyson for a few years and finally decided to get one...best decision I've made! It's light weight, but strong and durable, easy to maneuver and great suction.
