Everyone I talked to said to go with DYSON. Best Buy was having a GREAT sale, so I decided to take the plunge. I have dogs, I live an outdoor life - so I really need a great vacuum! The reason I am just luke warm about this purchase is that this is a whole lot of vacuum (weight, technology, price, promise) that doesn't really do what I need it to do. Note that where it does do really well on carpet - it DOES NOT do well on rugs or bare floors, for that matter. I have throw rugs on top of my carpet in areas and use to vacuum these rugs effortlessly and effectively with my electrolux - but with the DYSON, you have to turn off the roller and use the bare floor (no roller) option - and it just does nothing. I have this top of the line, pricey vac and have to use my hands as a rake so to speak and then feed the surplus hair to the DYSON. Note that Best Buy does NOT do returns of opened packages except for store credit - or I would have returned this vacuum after one use. That is my earnest review - I wish I could have read this review before I purchased this vacuum!

The Ball Multi Floor offers 270 air watts of powerful suction, along with our Dyson Ball technology, which makes it easier to steer into different places with a simple turn of a wrist. Your machine will also feature a wand and extension hose for use with cleaning up high, under furniture and in hard to reach areas. Attachments may be used on both the wand as well as directly on the hose for added versatility. The cleaner head on this machine is self-adjusting, meaning that it raises and lowers to seal in suction across all floors. Ultimately, the machine being hard to push will likely be the result of suction forming an air tight seal between the cleaner head and the floor.

This one was cheaper than the older one it replaced; but is still very, very good. It picks up stuff you don't think is there and does a wonderful job. The ball mechanism allows the machine to get into places my older Dyson would require the hose for. This is something that I would recommend to everyone and would buy again.

I am not sure how long it will hold up as the neck seems fragile. Yes you try to be careful but no one wants to spend all day vacuuming so it will take some abuse. Wish the cord was 5 feet longer like the other models.

The only thing I do not like about it, is it is hard to adjust when I need to start vacuuming. I have read the instructions and follow them but it is hard to adjust it to begin vacuuming. I put my foot on the bottom part to pull it down but it gets stuck and it's hard to deal with at times. Overall great vacuum.

It was appalling to see the amount of dust and hair pulled from carpet as had been using an Oreck on a daily basis. A couple negatives: suction too strong to vacuum smaller rugs: a little heavy in turns. But the product is great overall and well worth the purchase.
