This is the second Dyson that I have owned, and the exact same problems with both of them. The screw holding the brush in the vacuum head will ream out the plastic around it until the the head will not stay in place. This causes the brush to bind and burn out the head. The first vacuum lasted a couple of years, and was repaired under warranty just before it expired. It did the same thing a couple years later. I replaced it with a more expensive, upgraded version which broke in a year. More money, upgraded model, shorter life span. Not sure if I will buy a Dyson vacuum again.

Posted .Hi there, this is David with Dyson. I'm sorry to hear of your experience with your Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal + Allergy upright vacuum. We definitely wouldn't expect your cleaner head to burn out with regular routine maintenance, as outlined in the user guide. While it's certainly fine to clean the head from the outside, we also do recommend ensuring the brush is removed to ensure that no build up is forming in between the parts of the cleaner head, which would not otherwise be visible from the outside. It also is rather unusual to hear that this has occurred for you across two different machines. That said, please rest assured that Dyson does back your new upright purchase, with a free five year guarantee.
