Best vacuum ever, especially if you have animals
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a smaller Dyson prior to this and honestly I don't know what happened to it. . But this one is awesome. It looks the same but does the dc41. I've had it for 11 years. Just like this one. I think they just keep upgrading them. I took it apart myself and cleaned it after it had been in storage a while. Was quite a chore but save me a lot of money. Worth every penny and you'll never need to buy another vacuum.

Spend another $300 to do stairs, cielings & cars
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this in February 2015 and was thrilled when I first used it, that changed shortly after. Pros - The technology is amazing in its suction, filtering of expelled air and the pet tool is unmatched. I was even willing to except the extra weight over others we have owned. Cons - However the suction closes the hose so it's like resistance training the entire time you are using it and gets tiresome and fatiguing even doing furniture and makes stairs about impossible. Your are working with 2' of hose for the most part. I have called every 3 months hoping the would make a hose extension with no luck, they suggest a purchase a cordless to do the stairs, cobwebs and vehicles, at $300. Sorry but for $500 I feel this should be up to all the tasks my past vacuum did and could be solved with a simple extension hose.

The dyson big ball animal is NOT recommended.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Every time I use this vacuum the more I miss my old "animal" dyson! It has great suction but there are serious problems. The dust bin is half the size of my old dyson so I have to empty it 2-3 times more frequently. And ithe bin ALWAYS flips open when removed for dumping in the trash. The clasp on the bin is very poorly designed and does not hold the lid securely. I'm tired of this thing dumping dust and pet hair on the carpet I just cleaned!!!

Posted .Hi Charlie, this is Joe with Dyson. Thank you for your continued support. 20 years ago we ditched the bag and now with our Cinetic science we have ditched the filter. Cinetic also features improvements to the air filtration and the brush bar and active baseplate provide a deeper clean than our previous vacuums. The bin capacity is still over a half of a gallon and having to empty the bin so often is a good indication that the machine is effectively cleaning your carpets..
We would not expect any issues with the bin opening by accident and we are happy to provide support. Please email us your contact information to [email protected] and we will be in touch with assistance.
Best wishes,
Joe

Solid buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Evolutionary not revolutionary kind of upgrade from our DC25 we've had for a number of years. Due to the nature of the canister, I never feel like I'm getting the full volume out of it before I have to empty the canister. The debris pile on one side due to the simple fact that it only enters on one side, but that's the design of all bagless canister models. Also experienced a built up of fine dust around the built-in plastic screen around the canister's core. I think it's more mental than physical reality to think that it decreases performance by any kind of noticeable amount.

Poor build quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used Dysons for years, and after retiring my old Dyson Animal after 7 years, we decided to pick up this vacuum, ostensibly Dyson's top-of-the-line upright. My, how things have changed in 7 years. The build quality is atrocious. Parts are thinner and lighter, but not necessarily more sturdy. Whereas on my old Dyson, the attachments fit together nicely, on this one we have to fidget a little bit, and even then they don't stay seated perfectly. The ball has terribly low resistance, which means that it will try to turn when you just want to go straight. But the worst is the hose. It's flimsy, and kinks right at where the tools attach. It's also more difficult to return to the housing after you want to stow it back away. I guess Dyson's not interested in being the best quality anymore...

Posted .Hi there. Thank you for your feedback. We greatly appreciate your continued support. Dyson engineers are constantly developing machines to improve them. Dyson Cinetic science is the next phase of this improvement. Our other Dyson machines still have powerful suction and advanced cyclonic technology and capture more microscopic dust than any other cyclone. The difference is that Dyson Cinetic science is so efficient that a pre-motor filter is not needed. This means you no longer have to wash the filter to maintain this powerful suction. Our machines are made out of ABS plastic that is the same used to create riot shields and helmets. The machine is strong and durable, as well as lightweight. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at: [email protected]. We are happy to provide additional support. Best wishes, Christina.

After 2 years no issues!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok, so I bought this item back in 2015 and have had ZERO issues with it. I have a small dog rescue and can have up to 10 dogs running through my home. I got this vacuum because I got so tired of replacing belts, bags and rollers. This vacuum is designed for heavy use, easy clean and durability. The dogs love to chew up small landscaping tree bark when my back is turned for 5mins and this vacuum is a life saver.

Worst Dyson I have owned
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned about 4 or 5 Dyson's now. They have all worked well except this one. The only reason I buy new ones is because thats what I do. I like the latest and greatest. I'm a technology expert so I'm not your average Joe. I bought this one when it was first released by Best buy. First this thing does not pick up well. I can vacuum the same area 10 times and there will still be stuff to pick up. I dont thinks its the suction, I thinks its the bottom cleaner head and brush mechanism. its supposed to adjust to your carpet height or floor. But I don't thinks it puts enough pressure down to seal in the suction. I think the ball counter acts the presure in the front. I'm not a fan of the ball either. I hate that Dyson has gone that way all together. I wish they made a top regular style model still. Dyson expert: I have read your other responses to other people leaving low ratings. I understand the no filters to clean and never loses suction and the most advanced dyson ever. But none of that matters if it doesn't pick up properly from the cleaner head.

Longevity in a dry climate?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is our 3rd Dyson and it replaces a 65 multi floor unit. We vacuumed an area rug with the 65 and immediately went over it again with the new big ball. I was amazed at the additional dirt and fine dog hair that was lifted. It truly provides an impressive clean. So why only 3 stars? Well upon witnessing the units abilities we decided to get the articulating attachment for hard surface floors at our local authorized Dyson store. Upon entering the store we over heard a customer and Dyson employee discussing the failure and subsequent repair of the same big ball model. Apparently the motor had failed and was replaced under warranty. This didn't necessarily bothers us but the employees comment that this model was not suited for our climate did. The dry climate we have in our state apparently affects the operation of the unit causing premature failiure of the motor. We calculated the unit that was repaired had failed in under a year as the model was introduced in JAN of '15. (To the best of my knowledge). My wife questioned the employee further after he was done with the mentioned repair customer and he confirmed the issue. He said the big ball needs a climate with moisture to help with fine dirt and suggested after our warranty expires we should invest in the the animal unit with filters. Needless to say we're not as enthusiastic about our purchase and the prospect of time spent getting warranty repairs and a 5 year life cycle. I might add there were no reviews I found on any website that mentioned this design issue. Buyer beware.

Could not believe my eyes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have had the Purple Dyson Absolute for about 7 years. It was still doing a good job, but we were tired of lugging it down to the basement and then back up to the main floor. We have 4000 square feet to sweep. I swept our floor yesterday with the OLD Dyson and the new one showed up today. We swept again and got 1 canister of debris. This is the best I have seen and 5 year warranty. A+

Disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wouldn't purchase this particular Dyson vacuum again. 1st I got it home vacuumed my carpet and it just didn't seem to do as well as I'd expected, so I got my 5 year old (other brand# bagless vacuum out and it picked up what the Dyson Animal plus Allergy didn't. The next issue I had was the hose #when using the attachments# would collapse at the base cutting off air flow and rendering the attachment useless. And finally it is extremely difficult to maneuver on hard floor surfaces, great maneuverability on carpet, but it takes a lot of effort to turn it on a hard surface. I contacted Dyson because I thought they had a 30 day satisfaction guarantee only to find out that that only applies if you purchase it from Dyson Direct. I was told to take it to a service center and after 3 days of emailing Dyson #over Labor Day weekend) Tuesday I was able to talk to someone over the phone and was told "As you know not every vacuum is suited to every home, obviously this vacuum is not for your home and this particular vacuum doesn't have the suction power as some of our other models but it does have the new scientific technology so that you never have to clean filters" Well duh? that's because it doesn't pick up as much! My home is carpet and vinyl flooring so if a vacuum isn't suited to that I'm not sure that it's suited to any home. Thankfully Best Buy is allowing me to return this vacuum. My advice to you is don't buy a Dyson or buy a different model. By The way if a vacuum isn't suited to a particular home shouldn't it state that on the box so you don't spend over $600 including tax on it?

Posted .Hi there. Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you are not satisified with your purchase. Our Cinetic Big Ball Animal + Allergy All other vacuums will lose suction over time: bags will need changing and filters will require washing or replacing. Dyson Cinetic Big Ball requires neither of these, and with our most advanced cyclones yet, it delivers no loss of suction.
All bagless vacuums have filters which need to be washed regularly or replaced. Bagless vacuums use cyclone technology to separate dirt and dust from the air. But inefficient cyclones allow dust to pass right through the system and onto the filter. These filters clog and cause the vacuum to lose suction over time. Many vacuums lose suction with less than 1 years’ worth of dust. Some vacuums even lose suction before the first bin full of dust but even with maintenance of their filters, they all lose suction over time.
I understand that you are considering returning the machine. However, please consider contacting us directly at: [email protected]. We are happy to provide additional support.
Best wishes,
Christina.

Wow! Just got an Escalade!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from a Hoover, and realized that my old vac was just a step up from a broom. I can't believe the difference! No issues at all. Setup was easy. I'd like to see a better owner's manual to explain the features. The included attachments are great!

Very good vacuum but wheel came off.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am on my second Dyson. 1st was repaired 2 times on warranty and died after warranty at age of 6 due to cheap plastic parts that simply break off. This one broke after 4 years of use. It looks like it is designed to withstand 5 years of average use and break down after warranty is over. If you use it more than average you may get lucky and have it repaired on warranty.

Not worth the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Way over priced.Worse mistake ive made buying a expensive canister vac.Have to bang canister around or poke in it to get the pet hair out.Think this vac is just a overpriced name, wish i would have read reviews on some top end bag vacs......Has a cheap plastic flimsy feel.Attachments suck, hose for them also gets bent alot during use, hard to keep straight.Have to keep gaskets for the canister and etc clean, and still get pet smell while vaccuuming.Over all not impressed, will buy a top end bag model next time.

Posted .Thank you for taking the time to provide a review on the Cinetic Big Ball Animal + Allergy. We are happy to inform you that Dyson machines are made from polycarbonate ABS – the same material used in riot shields and crash helmets. They are tough, we subject them to 50,000 hours of testing and 550 individual tests – all to ensure that they can withstand a lifetime’s hard use.
When vacuuming pet hair, it is advisable to maintain the brush par and occasionally clean the cyclone to remove dust and dander that may cause an odor.
We would value the opportunity to learn more about your experience and want to ensure your vacuum is working as designed. Please contact us at [email protected] and we will be happy to help.
