The reason for 4 stars is the unadvertised HEPA Filters that are in this unit. The ball, if you look on each side, you'll see a large white filter on each side. With regular use, I doubt these filters will ever need replacing. However, I have been using this item since 2017 and the suction got weak in 2020. I use this vacuum a lot, 2 x a day. I noticed the suction had gotten weaker than it was. After a ton of research, I found out about these 2 replaceable filters. They;re easy to install, but OEM filters will cost you around 80 dollars for the pair..Thats really not a bad price considering how long they lasted me...No actual real issues to report and it works great..

We have been using a shark vacuum on our carpets since I moved in to our home. Recently, i decided we needed something a little better and we chose this one. I just shampooed my carpets about a month before we purchased the Dyson, and the amount of dirt it removed was startling. I typically vacuum our bedroom 3 times a week, and still it takes up so much. After a few weeks of use, our carpet somehow feels better to walk on. Highly recommend.

I love this vacuum. It works wonderfully and I give it 5 stars. It's great for homes with multiple pets.They only thing is I wish Dyson had kept the old extrintion handle design.

First Dyson ever. I was excited when I bought it. But quickly became unhappy. It overheated after 10 mins. It was too heavy and hard to maneuver for my wife. Hard time vacuuming shag rug. Had to return it. Looking for another vacuum.

Excellent vacuum. Does a wonderful job picking up dirt and pet hair.

Awesome vacuum! Gets up so much dirt, you think it’s clean until you use this one. Its amazing.

The Dyson - Cinetic Big Ball Animal + Allergy Bagless Upright Vacuum works better (in terms of pick-up) than any vacuum I've ever used. It never fails to impress me. But the design related to cleaning steps and some of its less-than-intuitive design holds me back from proclaiming it the best vacuum ever. The design, while appealing in looks, is not practical in all applications. The price, therefore, does seem unreasonable. However, with the use of a bunch of gift cards, I felt it was still worth the plunge and I am very happy with the product.

Great vacuum really like and would recommend it to anyone

This is my second Dyson. In between that I had a Shark Rotator that I disliked. My first Dyson was all plastic as is this one. My first Dyson had a part that was broken soon after purchase. The part was sent to me however, it was impossible to replace so we just settled for tape. I got quite a number of years out of that machine before hose needed to be replaced. I decided to just purchase something else. Hence the Shark. I missed my Dyson so i purchased this Dyson Cinetic Ball Animal. It is hard to maneuver and a pain in the butt to push. When you try to roll it after you are finished using it, it does NOT stay upright and constantly collapses. This forces you to have to pick it up to put it up when you are finished. I can't imagine an elderly person picking it up. Now, suction, you can't beat Dyson power. Sadly, both outer parts of the ball need replaced because of a rubber ring on the far outer edge that has came loose. It will NOT roll without those rubber rings. Instead of them just shipping me the parts, I have to send it to them to be repaired. If they ship me the parts, it voids my warranty. What the heck. I scream design flaw!!!!! Two pieces easily unscrewed and replaced voids the warranty. However, my first Dyson had a part impossible to replace and it wasn't a problem to send the part. Now I am inconvenienced by first having a broken machine, second having to send it back to them and third living without a vacuum.

I have only had great experience since childhood. And never heard a complaint from my mother. I purchased this machine to replace my DC15, which was over 10 years old. what makes me sad the most is, giving away my old DC15 that did not seem to give up anytime soon. I loved that machine. with the amount of work it was doing around a house full of pet hair and dirt, it never gave me any problems, no repair or replaced parts ever needed. Worth to mention here, I also have multiple small hand held Dyson vacuums for my mattress, another for kitchen and separated machine for cars in our garage. With all that being said, It makes me very disappointed to come along a Dyson product that has become the worst purchase. Disappointing to give a one star to Kinetic big ball animal allergy after nearly 6 years owning it as expensive piece of machine in closet storage, that nobody wants to touch. We have 3 fairy pets. Especially our German shepherds shed hair insanely. You can only imagine how much pet hair and dendrite accumulate around a 3 bedrooms 2300 sqft house in a day. This vacuum frustrates anybody touches it. During holiday, my guest tried to help with cleaning and she wanted to give the Dyson a shot, and that reminded me the pain again. it only took her 5 minutes to give up and go back to the cheap noisy plastic filter needy machine my husband bought .... which cleans my house. I was not ready to give up on in the first year, but my husband had no patient and bought a cheap plastic that he can use when he cleans. There is a defect in the main head component and makes it useless, because thats what you use around the house not the little kits they come with as accessory... so long story short... what is really wrong... this machine fails to CLEAN. It fails to pick up larger particles. I mean, imagine one single rice, or a small animal dirt from their leg or body on the floor, and its visible to eyes. This machine fails to pick it up. it pushes them forward instead of picking it up. You can try to move back and forth, attack the particle from different angels and still doing it.... It is so heavy to work with, and makes you physically tired when trying so hard to see if it can pick up a single particle. At the end you turn it off and DO IT WITH HANDS!!!! The suction (which supposed to be the strongest), does not only clean, but also fails to SUCK ANIMAL HAIR (HENCE THE NAME ANIMAL+ALLERGY). As light as a hair weight, it supposed to suck it up better than most vacuums in the market. But instead it pushes them or roll over them if hair is stuck on carpet. it doesn't work on any surface, carpet, or even hard floor. This big head part can not clean anything. It gets filled with some dust and some hair but IT DOESN'T CLEAN ANY SURFACE. I did not buy this to vacuum over and over switch between machines, and spend all day picking up dirts, that this leaves behind manually or another vacuum. So, thats the reason its sitting in storage closet and nobody wants to touch it. I wish there was something to do with the head part, or something that can tell me What I AM DOING WRONG, I wish Dyson could give me a solution, so I can actually use it. because We are tired of buying cheap noisy plastics that create dust in the air, and break every other year.

Strong, not loud and not extremely heavy. The hand extension vacuum could be easier to use for long reaches, on occasion it does get stuck.

This vacuum is the best pet hair remover. It picks up like nothing else I have purchased.

The suction is beyond comparable to anything else and that is what I bought the vacuum cleaner to do. But I find the cleaner "ball" technology clumsy to control. It is not a flick of the wrist as described. I also find the machine heavy and since I have a 2 story house I do not move this vacuum cleaner from one floor to the other. Lots of attachments but hard to use. The best guide is on the outside of the box I threw away. But the cleaning suction is superb and that fact alone trumps all.

So what you have read from a lot of the other reviews is correct. It's heavy, it's hard to empty once hair gets tangled in there, and it doesn't "Feel" as well made as some of the others. I still love this thing! It is amazing on carpets and gets debris that is next to the wall. I was pretty blown away. I've had another Dyson and this definitely felt like an upgrade.

We purchased this Dyson Ball + Animal vacuum in March. Upon opening the product, it was evident that every thing about the product, other than the motor, was extremely cheap quality. The parts are thin, lightweight plastic and it raised immediate doubts about the durability. The vacuum also feels very flimsy to maneuver and easily slips out of the upright locked position when transporting it throughout the house when your not vacuuming. Unfortunately, I was impressed with the suction power during the first use and therefore chose to keep the product, despite these reservations. Since, the product has lost suction despite regular upkeep to remove hair from the brush-roll. The seals with the canister are also very cheaply/poorly designed and therefore dust particles, including occasional use of carpet fresh, routinely leak out and end up on outside of the canister and the elsewhere on the vacuum. I can't image that this would meet HEPA standards anymore, which is irritating as someone with nasal allergies. Because of the poor product experience, I find myself less motivated to vacuum, which leads to more wear and tear on the carpet. It's extremely disappointing that our Shark Rocket handheld (9.5" width) is the best vacuum in the house. We will not be purchasing another Dyson any time soon. Our last vacuum was the Shark Rotator Pro, which we had for 2 years. It was considerably less expensive and proved to be a more effective vacuum. As a comparison for others considering this product, we live in a newer 2-story home with longer carpet. There are 4 people and one dog in the family.

I have owned a dyson big ball vacuum for approximately 10 years. We love it so much we are buying a second one. Worst case, we had to clean the roller when items would wrap around it. 10 minute fix.

Had Purple big ball long time worked great. Part broke so we bought the Nickel one to replace it. Keeps plugging up loses suction. Called Dyson and the rep talked my nontechnical wife through disassembly and told her she has one just like it and jams all of the time. Tech says she dissasembles her all of the time to fix it because it plugs up if you use it more than a couple times without unjamming it.. Dyson said can do nothing to help. Best Buy manager says we had for a while which is too long and Best Buy will do nothing about it.. Customer service rep manger actually laughed at my wife. I went to a replacement part supply on line site and ordered replacement part for our old Purple. It now works as good as new. The Nickel is garbage and Dyson should recall it. We will research every consumer site next time before buying another Dyson The purple is great even though it is older this Nickel model stinks. I would buy a functioning Purple at a rummage sale before buying the Nickel new in the store. Dyson will post some auto response to this and ask you to contact them to hear about your experience. Go ahead we already called they are not going to deal with it and Best Buy is just the vendor so they won't either. We like Best Buy and we like Dyson Purple Ball but the Nickel is junk. You will see most of my reviews are positive to excellent but they earned this one.

This vacuum is terrific: 3 kids, 2 long haired cats & still running strong. Replacement parts are very expensive & hard to find though, so I docked a star.

I bought this vacuum 3 years ago. It wasn't amazing when I got it. I didn't notice anything different than my wind tunnel. When I went over my carpet flecks of dirt would bounce up from the vacuum instead of being sucked in. And yesterday the motor stopped working! To get another one is the cost of a new shark vacuum. Not happy.
