Works Great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was easy to assemble – I had it working within minutes. I like that fact that most of the attachments can be attached to the unit so they are handy when you need them. My only four minor complaints are this: One – you have to careful when emptying the canister – it best to do it outside or at least deep in a garbage bag because the dust and dirt kick up and get all over the place. Two – Trying to stand it up can take a few tries before it locks in place. Three – while the extension vacuum hose is flexible, it still seems a little a short and the fact that the unit has to remain standing for the suction to go through that hose makes it harder to use it deep under things like sofas. Four – I’m spoiled – my last vacuum that my ex took was a Kirby and that thing was built like a tank and it was much heavier, but it was self propelled and therefore took no effort to push around while this unit is all plastic and it still weighs a fair amount so it takes much more effort to push around. Other than those four things – it works great. I like not having to change bags (no extra costs!), I like that I can see when the chamber needs to be empty (unlike bags), it does a great job on my carpets, I like the ball feature – it makes for easier maneuvering, and it was about $300 less than the price of the Kirby it replaced – but I suspect this thing will never last as long as the Kirby will – not with all these plastic pieces – something is going to break eventually. I will say this, when it comes to switching between surfaces and attachments, this is the one of the easiest uprights I’ve ever dealt with – far easier than the Kirby. But when it comes to ease of pushing it around, hands down the self-propelled Kirby wins. I almost bought another Kirby – but decided I didn’t want to pay the price – which would have involved haggling to get it to within $300 of this unit. So I’m happy with this choice – so far so good.

Amazing Difference
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the Dyson 41 a few weeks ago. We had a nice expensive vacuum prior, but it did not even come close to this thing. The amount of stuff this thing pulls up in comparison is unbelievable. I did the vacuum test and used are old vacuum then vacuumed the same area with this machine. Its a jaw dropper how much more this thing pulls up. This thing is also very light and unbelievable how easy it is to maneuver. Because it is so powerful vacuuming is actually much faster than before, you don't have to keep going over the same spot. If you have dogs or kids, or pets of any kind, this is the machine you are looking for. Yes, its expensive. But think about how much less you may be having to have your carpets cleaned or how much time you save with this when you are looking at the price. My only complaint, and it is by no means a deal breaker, is the hose. They built this thing with so much convenience the very long hose is easily accessed. But it recoils with a lot of force so keeping it uncoiled takes a bit of effort. In other words, this hose does not lay lazily behind you as you try to do stairs. This thing is worth the money and I wish we had it ten years ago.

Amazing Vacuum
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own two dogs and one of them is a Black Labrador that sheds a lot. In the past, I used many other vacuums designed specifically for shedding animals. None of them were capable of keeping up with my shedding dog. They would work for a few weeks then they would lose their suction capabilities. I found myself extremely frustrated. I was constantly purchasing new vacuums. While shopping at Best Buy, I stumbled across Dyson Animal Vacuums. I hesitated to purchase a Dyson. I felt that this vacuum was costly. I already spent a lot of money on other vacuums that did not work. As I stood there looking at this vacuum, a random customer told me “you won’t be sorry”. I took a chance and bought the Dyson Animal Vacuum. I love my Dyson Animal Vacuum. This vacuum works amazing. Powerful and constant suction cleans my carpets, stairs, and bare floors. It is bagless and very easy to use. Not only does this vacuum remove dirt and pet hair from my carpets, but this vacuum removes embedded pet hair from my carpets. With a 35’ cord, I am able to vacuum all of my rooms without switching electrical outlets. I would recommend Dyson Animal Vacuum to anyone who has pets. I have white furniture and a Black Labrador. People who come to my home can’t believe how clean my house is with a Black Labrador. This was one of the best purchases I ever made.(MSZ)

Worth every penny
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This one is actually a replacement for an old DC28 Animal that I bought 6 years ago and ran into the ground. I grew up in a house that only used canister vacuums and I simply can't imagine using one now. I love, love, love this version of Dyson Animal. I highly recommend this to anyone with carpet in their house, especially pet owners (duh, it's an Animal!). It picks up *everything.* All the regular dirt, cat hair, kibble, and especially the little indiviual pieces of litter that somehow get thoroughly ingrained in my carpet all come up in a swipe or two. It's a lot more maneuverable than my old one, which is nice since I have a lot of obstacles in vacuuming path. I love having the attachments and switch over to using the "wand" with the mini turbine frequently. I live in a 1-story house and can vacuum over half of it before needing to relocate the plug into a new outlet. The only complaint, if you could really call it that, is that I have to empty the canister a lot but I'd like think that the vacuum is doing such a good job and it's a good thing. I didn't have to use it last time but with the 5 year warranty on parts and labor, you shouldn't need to buy the geek squad extra protection. It may be more expensive than those Eurekas and Hoovers but I promise it is so absolutely worth it.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Wife and I have two dogs, one of them sheds a lot of fur, he's got short fine fur that gets on everything!, after years of buying "animal" vacuums we were always left disappointed. Then comes the Dyson DC41, we were hesitant due to the fact that it's $599.99!!!! First use was enough to make us believers, it picked up EVERY single piece of fur on our carpet. Our carpet has never been this clean, It's also not as loud as our last vacuum, lighter and more agile. Truly a great vacuum.

Replaced DC25... Disappointed in a bad way
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just unboxed our new DC41. I can't believe I'm writing a review for a vacuum. Sadly, this was the most exciting part of my day only to be let down by the cheap quality and poor design engineering. After never losing suction for 3 years, the power button on my DC25 went out and I had to purchase a new vacuum. At first glance, the new design looks good, but is deceiving. The 'ball' on the DC41 is not really a ball. It's a single wheel with ball-like hubcaps - lame. The pivoting motion once enjoyed while using my DC25 seems to now be missing in my DC41. The DC25 had an overall high quality feeling. It felt like a high quality vacuum worth the $550 we paid. The plastic on this one feels somewhat flimsy and sure to crack. The plastic arm attachment at one point was solid metal construction and fully connected to the handle. In what seems to be a cost saving effort, Dyson replaced the metal/plastic fused all-in-one peice handle to a clumsy, falls-apart, are-you-sure-its-put-together-properly, probably going to break handle. Dyson also did away with the tap to release latch. Nice feature on the top layer, but definitely something that will wear out faster than the latch system. At first glance, this thing is probably going to break in several places and I will be swearing. I'm just glad Dyson still has a 5 year warranty because this thing is surely going to need to be fixed at some point. As for the suction, it's good, which was to be expected. The motorized brush is fantastic. If I didn't know any better, I'd be concerned about my carpet going bald as a result of the awesome suction and brush. The decibel level has been amped down as well, which is also nice. It still sounds like a turbine, but in a good/cool way. Overall, I want my DC25 back, or at least the quality and design. I want to feel like I got what I paid for. Aside from a power button that wouldn't click on, the DC25 was awesome. It had a perfect design, didn't feel cheap, great suction, great features, and not clumsy to handle. I'm tempted to return this and buy the cheaper DC24. Price for quality, the DC41 is definitely not worth the money. Save your money and get good suction for cheaper. Buy the DC24.

You get what you pay for
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is totally worth the money. It picks up things our old vacuum missed and gets our rugs cleaner than our old vacuum did even when a new bag was just installed, and that was just purchased a couple of years ago. Everything is very well thought out on this from the ball to the one hand container emptying design, add to that the fact of the no loss of suction, which is really true, you can also go from rugs to smooth floors with the touch of a button and then you are not sweeping your hardwood/laminate floors. There is also no smell from running this like there was from running my bagged vacuum. Having the extension handle that can reach up 14ft is a huge benefit and I have not encounted anything that I could not get up with it yet. We have children and pets also, so it gets put to the test and has already gotten plenty of use. I registered it online with Dyson as they take care of it personally if something should go wrong for 5yrs, which is nice to see a company backing their product. In the end the money that you will save in replacing belts and bags and the time and frustration you will save are well worth the investment! I am looking forward to my next Dyson purchase.

It Sucks! (Meant in a good way!)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vacuum sucks like no other. I mean this in a good way! I used my old vacuum then used the Dyson after. I was amazed by how much it picked up AFTER already vacuuming my house with the old unit. This is a great product! The old saying stands...."You get what you pay for". This product was a little costly; however now I've used it I can't imagine NOT having it. This is worth the cost!

Great for any 1 who wants a clean carpet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this product to replace a Bissel that just could not do stairs! Although it appeared the Bissel was working well, after the first pass with the dyson (emptied bin 4 times!) it was obvious the Bissel could not pick up the fine particles. Dander and fine dust particles and tons of labrador/german shepherd hair all gone, the hair does not tangle in brushes or clog up the system. And the carpet is 2 shades lighter, who knew? The cord is long enough I never have to unplug. and the hose reaches to the top of the steps without having to drag it behind you. Best of all walking barefoot!

Best vacuum I've owned
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vacuum works very well. It is easy to transport up and down the steps. The attachments work like they should. I have two dogs and it gets the hair out of the carpet fairly easily. The vacuum also works ver well on bare floors. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase.

The most amazing vacuum !!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the greatest vacuum ever! It's pretty pathetic to say that I'm actually in love with an appliance, but I really am! Lol. The price was a little scary to pay for a vacuum, but my old eureeka one broke (again) and Best Buy just happened to be offering a 20% discount on a Dyson when you recycled your old vacuum... Perfect timing! I bought it and haven't stopped vacuuming since! :). The attachments are great, especially the mini turbine head (great for getting pet hair off the couch!) and the duster (better than using a rag & spray) it does everything and the super long hose and extender can reach ceilings with no problem. The first time I used it I was shocked by what it picked up! Even though I had just vacuumed a few days prior (then the eureka broke) I've already bought the set of allergy attachments and the rug cleaner (zorb) works great!!! Wish they'd carry all other available attachments in the store --- I'm hooked and you will be too !! Don't be intimidated by the price - it has a 5 year warranty and they seem to last. My friend has had her Dyson 11 years already and it's still going strong! It pays for itself in the long run when you don't have to buy a cheaper vacuum every year!! Happy Vacumming!! :)

didn't live up to the hype
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What I liked about this vacuum: 1) vacuumed very well, one of the best out of the 4 I tested. 2) plenty of attachments, particularly the power brush, none seemed to diminish suction. Now what I didn't like: 1) price. Though it did it's job well, it wasn't so great as to warrant the cost, and what I ultimately settled on did just as good a job. 2) maneuverability. The ball is heavy and took more effort tha I cared to exert turning it. Actually hurt my wrist and I'm not a weak person. I tried this, the Hoover platinum bagged upright, shark navigator lift away, and shark rotator pro. Settled on the rotator for price, weight, versatility, attachments, and vacuuming power. Was happy with it since first use. If i had the money to spare, I would have stuck with the Dyson dc41, but the shark did everything that Dyson did, except it's lighter so it moves easy, and was less than half the price.

Posted .The DC41 features Dyson Ball technology, allowing it to be steered easily with small movements of the handle. Although the DC41 weighs just over 17 pounds, it may be that a lighter weight machine such as the DC40 would be a better fit for your individual cleaning needs. We understand you have selected an alternate machine, however, if you have any questions regarding Dyson technology, please email us at [email protected].

There's A Reason Dyson Vacs Are Popular
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I held off as long as I could buying a Dyson vac due to the high price, but when they went on sale recently I could no longer resist. This is definitely on of the smartest purchases I've made in years! The DC41 is a marvel of engineering -- from its interlocking hand nozzle and attachments, to the innovative ball at its base -- no detail was overlooked. I had it up and running within 15 minutes of opening the box. And the suction! I've used full-size industrial shop vacs with less suction than this little gem. In fact, the suction is so powerful, it takes quite a bit of effort to extend the hand nozzle away from the base unit. Not complaining about that, mind you. It just takes some getting used to. The DC41 glided around my living room floor like a fine Italian sports car as I deftly turned it this way and that, getting at the dirt and fuzzballs under the sofa and easy chair. This is by no means a quiet vac, you will definitely know when its running. But it is significantly less noisy than my previous vac (the Hoov-whatever). I highly recommend this vac to anyone looking to make a purchase they will be proud of.

SOLID
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i had the dc25 animal for 29days and exchanged it for this upgrade. i vacuumed my whole house twice before returning the dc25...came home 2hours later with the dc41 and vacuumed the same spots..the dc41 pick up even more hair and dust then the dc25animal did. its clear bin is bigger, cord is longer and there is a lot more brushes on the head. this ball rolls even smoother then the dc25animal and seems built a lot more solid. the dc25animal felt very plastic and cheap...the dc41 is solid...over all I'm very pleased with this vacuum. oh course a little cheaper would be nice but HEY u pay for quality. oh yea 1st ; )

Better than the moneypit Or**k we have
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just got this home. It is heavier than my current vacuum which we have spent money on monthly with repairs even though we have our "tuneups" for free. The amount of dirt that was in the canister was the same as what we got each time we changed a bag monthly and I vacuum everyday. It was gross to see what my kids have been rolling around on while I though my current vac was doing the job. It is harder to get under some furniture but you have different attachments and I will not complain about moving furniture if the thing actually does its job. Which is DOES. I would have given it 5 stars but would have liked it to be more lightweight. I just consider it burning a few more calories.

Gives Dyson a good name
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The vacuum really is a luxury and not only that, but it's worth every penny. Everytime I vacuum, my carpet looks new. It picks up dust and trash effortlessly and efficiently. I was excited to find it in my favorite color! lol. I cannot emphasize how happy I am with the machine. I do have to point out that it is not as light as you would think... I have had other Dyson vacuums and this one is just as heavy if not a little lighter. Also, while the design is very modern and appealing, you might want to practice and get used to the ball design. At times, it is way too easy to push and can turn sideways if you turn it abruptly. The way that you attach the tools to the side of the vacuum is also a bit awkward. Furthermore, when my baby tries to play with it when it is in upright position, I have to be careful it doesn't come tumbling down on him because it is too easy to disengage from upright position. I find them falling from time to time when the cord gets stuck there or when they bump into furniture or what not. This, of course, does not compromise the quality and performance; it was just something I would like to point out for potential customers. Overall, of course I would buy it again and I can say I am enjoying it to the fullest!

Amazing!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vacuum cleaner is amazing. I vacuumed with my old vacuum first and then with this one. WOW! Grabbed cat hair from deep down in the carpet. (And I have two long haired cats) I have a bad back and this was really light weight to push around. Love the ball with the swivel action. Makes things so much easier. The ONLY downside to this product is that there is no where to attach the stair attachment (you can attach all of the others) to the actual upright. This is no biggie for me since we don't have any stairs with carpet, but may be an issue for others. Definitely glad we got this for our home!

Awesome machine!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Form meets function creating an unbeatable combination. The Animal DC41 significantly outperforms all other vacuums we had, including an expensive Kirby for which we paid twice as much. It's easy and FUN to use and picks up more dirt and hair than you can believe. The clear dust bin is a huge help as you can see immediately when it's full and emptying it couldn't be easier or faster. We also love being able to go directly from thick shag to hardwood floors. All the attachments are easy to use and everything but the stair/upholstery brush-head rides on-board. We think Dyson hit it out of the park with this vac. If you are in the market, pets or not, you will want this one. (I do not work for Dyson or any retailer.)

Great suction, but awkward design
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The effectiveness in picking up objects (especially dirt and needles) greatly surpasses the Eurekas and Hoovers we had in past years. It is pleasantly lightweight for everyone to easily carry up and down stairs. A major drawback we have encountered is the slightly top-heavy design. When using the wand, the machine has tipped over on a number of occasions. Within three months of purchase, the bin assembly was cracked from a tipover(s). I was not happy having to pay for a part so soon. To make matters worse, after talking with a Dyson rep, for some reason the warranty could not be applied. Other than the disappointing tipovers and part replacement episode, the machine has worked excellently.
