In the shop for a month now
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this back in Decmeber of 2011, it worked for two months then the brush in the front of the unit stopped working. I called Dyson and they sent out a replacement. The replacement brush arrived in 5 days like they stated but it still didn't work, called Dyson again and then took the unit to a repair shop that they recommened. It has been there for over a month now and I was told it was the wiring in the unit that was the problem. I can say when the unit was working it did a great job and picked up everything on one pass.

Great product for the home
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a great product, no vaccum bags, etc. Does a very good job at picking up animal hairs and dirt and very easy to clean places standard vaccums can't.

Very powerful vacuum
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only negative thing I can say about this vacuum is that the hose is too short when using it with attachments. Otherwise, it is a very powerful vacuum and we love it.

cleaning power
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My inital reaction is a 4 based on initial usage, but based on my previous experience with vacs I have owned, only time will tell. Based on tech, ability to clean & especially maneuverability, the ball is a pleasure & may prove to be worth the price. Based on construction, this machine is complex & like every product utilizing plastic, the hanging question is durability. Like most bagless machines, the collection canister is a weak point. 1-It is a given not to empty the canister inside the house. 2-The canister design makes it difficult to completely remove debris. Perhaps it is part of a learning curve, but based on 1st impressions, the most annoying feature is the operation of the rear support wheels.

I love it but... this is the 3rd Dysons DC41
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased my first Dyson DC-41 animal vacuum around six months ago, and I loved from the beginning. It was easy to assemble, it has a powerful suction and it cleans your carpet as no other vacuum cleaner. Around two months ago the cleaner head did not have any power of suction, all the suction was in the wand extension even do the vacuum was in upright position. I went back to BB and they replaced for a new one, no questions asked. The second vacuum broke in two weeks. The button to turn on/off the cyclone brusher stopped working and the brusher didn't work. Fantastic costumer service of the warranty of the Dyson replace the vacuum for a third time, but this makes me wonder how long will Dysons vacuum last... because I cannot affor to purchase a $600 vacuum every year if the vacuum broke after the one year warranty.. that's why I purchased this time the 4 year geek protection. I like the fans of Dysons but not sure if will put my money in one of them based on the experience with the DC 41.

Extremely Disappointed - Dyson DC17 Upgrade
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a Dyson DC-17 four years ago and was absolutely delighted by the incredible cleaning power (beat my $1,200 Tri-Star to shame). I saw the ads for the new Animal DC-41 so I sold my working DC-17 to my sister for $150. Upon arriving home and using it she sent me a text saying she could not believe how well it worked and said, “I had to empty the container three times in my living room and hallway, I will give you another $100 for it!!" I used the DC-41 tonight and immediately noticed the lack of vacuum strength in the beater bar compared to the DC-17. The DC-17 would pull my area rugs off of the floor requiring you to step on the rug while vacuuming it to keep it on the ground, not so with the DC-41. The DC-17 would hunker down so much from the suction on another area rug it would be hard to push it. The DC-41 disappointingly did not do this. Dyson mistakes: The design of the wand, now requiring you to push a button to put it back in the handle is a real inconvenience. The DC-17 would unlock and insert with one hand. The height adjusting floor tool actually seems to waste what power there is. Watch YouTube videos showing comparisons. This vacuum needs five to eight passes to clean the carpet! No bare-floor attachment. Even though the DC-41 claims to clean bare floors, it hugs the bare floor so well that it will not pick up larger items such as cereal or cat food, instead it just pushes them around the floor. The debris tank is too small, and seems to be very cheaply made compared to the DC-17. The button to release the outside container from the cyclone unit is really unimpressive and flimsy. With three cats, the DC-17 would have been full after cleaning my main floor after one-week, the DC-41 barely had about a cup and a half of debris in the tank. I guess for the power of the DC-41 unit, it the container size will suit it fine. The only good thing about the DC-41 is the Turbo tool. Otherwise, it is a lot of dressing on an overpriced machine. The air-watts may be higher on the DC-41, but it does not have the vacuum quality of the previous machine. I have raved for over four years to anyone who would listen, showing friends my Dyson video because I was so amazed at the DC-17. The DC-41 is not worth the Dyson name! Would not buy another.

Posted .Thank you for your continued support of Dyson technology. We are very sorry to hear you are dissatisfied with your DC41. Our engineers aim to design machines that are light weight and durable. DC41 machines are constructed with materials specifically selected for their strength, flexibility and tolerance. We back this construction with a 5 year guarantee.
The DC41 is equipped with an active base plate to allow the cleaner head to make optimal contact with all floor types. However, If an item is too large for the cleaner head we recommend using your wand. Your wand and combination tool are engineered for quick pick ups.
We would value an opportunity to ensure your DC41 is working properly. Please email [email protected] and we will be in touch. Best wishes, Dyson Customer Service

Worth every dime of it's price tag !
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best vacuum I've ever used. I was a little hesitate to buy a machine made out of so much plastic. And sure enough after 7 months of flawless performance, some thing broke. It took all of 5 minutes to talk to a Dyson Representative. And was told my new replacement part was being shipped out the next day. I'm 100% happy with the product & the service after the sale. If you got the coin don't even think twice buy a Dyson product !!!!!!

High Maintenance and Poor Design
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the DC41 Animal because I have 3 large dogs that all shed and play outside. The DC41 will pick up hair and dirt, just not very much. The canister must be emptied for each room and the filter cleaned after each use or it will completely lose suction. (High Maintenance) The larger issue is the design of the rod that releases the bottom so you can dump the dirt from the canister. The rod near the “cyclone” breaks easily and it is not covered under the warranty because “It isn’t a design problem” said by a manager at dyson. Not a design problem? This has broken on mine twice in two years the first time in less than 6 months and it was replaced. The second time it broke a year later, it lasted that long because I tried to baby it. (Poor Design) I like the ball idea but it is useless if I can’t use the vacuum.

Best vacuum on the market
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will never not own a dyson product. It is amazing. Quality product. Only bad thing i have to say is, the locking mechanism for holding it upright is a little sketchy sometimes. Would recommend this to anyone to experience a true cleaning machine.

Awesome vacuum cleaner
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned Dyson's the last few years and can't see myself going back to anything else. Pricey but you get what you pay for IMO. Believe me, I've had many vacuum cleaners. Suction is great and the easy to empty container is convenient.

The big ball design, manuvers easily
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've got 7 dogs, 3 cats, one dog is a short hair St. Bernard, sheds all year long. Picks up everything, (sometimes needs 2 passes, but I am not complaining, lots of hair to pick up) including micro dust particals, was amazed how much my so called expensive sears kenmore left behind.
