I was soo excited to get the Dyson Corrale but it’s no different than any other straightener. The battery lasts for about 30 minutes and it pulls my hair. For the price of this straightener I would have expected it to be much better. I would definitely save your money. It’s very pretty though.

I had been using the same straightener since middle school (2007), and finally decided to buy a new one. WOW - this is such a high quality product. I have thick, coarse, wavy hair, and I love how this straightens without having to go back over sections several times. My hair can stay straight for days. I love the LED screen, and the fact it can be wireless!!!!

Alright, so it's been 4 years of using my Corrale. So I figured it was time to finally write a review, the good, the bad, and the curly. Let's start with the Pros: - Gets my 2C curly hair straight in one pass. If I don't blow dry and it's really curly, then 2 passes, but still, impressive. - Makes gorgeous loose curls because of its barrel shape You can get so much more hair per pass because of the "teeth." I can do my whole head in 15 minutes, which is more impressive than it sounds, considering I have a ton of thick curly hair, used to take me 45 mins. Cordless, I didn't realize how useful this was until I became a bridesmaid and had to share a small historic house with like 10 other women who were all competing for mirror and outlet space. I was able to take my Dyson into the quiet powder room no one was in because it had no outlets. To say the other girls were jealous is an understatement. - No burnt smell. Every time I used to flat iron with my CHI, there was always this burning smell left in my hair. The dyson doesn't do that, and it locks in the smell of my heat protectant. -Longevity, as I said, it's been 4 years since I got this bad boy, and it straightens just as well as day 1. I'm sure I'll get a few more years out of it. - Efficiency, when you are a working mom, you value any time you can save, and this saves me lots. I've had the Dyson airwrap and the Airstrait, and they're fine, but none get my hair done and protected from humidity like the original Dyson blow dryer and the Corrale. I loved the airstrait at first because of its speed, but it can't curl, and then I stepped outside in Florida summer, and I looked like a French poodle in less than 30 seconds. So while the "air only" tools are great in theory, not for naturally curly hair or humid climates. Now for the Cons: -Clunky, my goodness, this thing is a brick. I'm a fairly strong lady, but the first few times I used this, I had to take breaks because my hand cramped so bad. You do get used to it, though, and now I can finish my whole head in one sitting. - Battery degrades, I used to be able to do my whole head at 400 in one charge. After about 3 years, I can only do half my hair at 365 before it starts dying. So I mostly use it plugged in now. Thats to be expected of any battery, though. - Travel, is not easy with this thing, and the cord has another brick of its own, so I opt for my light CHI for traveling. - It snags, the teeth mechanism does make your hair catch, so while it's not a smooth pass like my CHI, it grabs a lot more hair in one pass and needs way less passes than my CHI to get the desired look. -Shine is lackluster, I won't get that silk press look like I do with my CHI, but it also comes at the price of frying my hair so... Sooo I know what you're thinking, "That's a whole Lotta Cons for a $500 straightener," and you'd be right. So it all comes down to the last and most important PRO, LACK OF DAMAGE. This is the only straightener I've ever used this long, and this often, that hasn't fried my hair. In fact, my hair looks and feels better than ever, even with consistent heat styling. My dermatologist stated my hair was super thick and healthy. I asked my stylist how often she thought I styled my hair, and she said, "Special occasions?" Nope, EVERY WEEK for 4 years. Will I buy one again? Well, I plan to hold on to this one till its last breath, but if Dyson releases a lighter, thinner version with longer battery, I'll be first in line. So ultimately, whether this is worth it for you will come down to how much you value the health of your hair, and for me, it's priceless.

I'm pretty familiar with the Corrale and how it works having already owned one for a little over 2 years so I was curious if a newer one offered any updated benefits. Out of the box, the only immediate differences I noticed was the change in the charging dock. Previously you received a full sized dock with a heavy base and a hard sturdy plastic attachment that the iron would lean on. With this one and I believe all of the newer ones you get the new travel dock which is more compact (it folds close) and not nearly as heavy and sturdy as the original. It appears to be made out of mostly plastic material but as the name suggests would be perfect for traveling. As far as actual performance...so far it performs pretty much like the original one I own. It continues to offer the same 3 heat temperatures of 330/365/410 degrees. It heats up quickly as expected and glides effortlessly through my hair straightening in a single pass (assuming I don't get too ambitious and try to work on a section that is too big/thick) without causing the dreaded burning hair smell that I can experience with other irons using the same amount of product and keeping the temperature at comparable levels. This has always been one of the reasons I enjoy using this iron over others to smooth my natural textured hair. Relying on my memory of battery life when I initially got the original iron I will say that it seems to be the same. I can comfortably complete my straightening process without the battery dying. It will take time for me to really say if battery life is more improved on this one over my original which after 2 years still works well but as expected the battery drains a bit quicker now and I may have to let it sit on the dock a bit longer to get a bit more charge near the end of my process. This is not a shock for a cordless device that is used fairly regularly over the 2+ years but would be nice if this one can do a little better over time. Every since Dyson first released the Corrale I have noticed a lot of unrealistic expectations about battery life where people are expecting the battery to last as if it were a traditional corded iron because of the price. This is asking for a lot and just doesn't make sense. To the best of my knowledge there isn't a comparable full sized cordless rechargeable straightener with a better battery life even today so you have to set your expectations for that in a more realistic manner. It would be great if the battery could last an hour but it might just be asking for too much without needing some major changes that may not be wanted. I personally opt to use it without the cord opting instead to place it on the dock to charge between passes. Because the cord continues to be the magnetic type it just ends up being too easy to accidentally knock the cord off while using so I just opt not to. But if you want to extend your battery time using it corded in hybrid mode may be your best option. Weight-wise, this one seems to be about the same in my hand (I don't see any info on the box or the pamphlet that states a difference so I can't really confirm or deny any changes). The Corrale is definitely a bit heavier than some may be used to with their irons but it is not a weight that will realistically cause the user to feel fatigue or anything during use. I don't experience any tugging or catching of any of my hair when using (although I am used to how to use this and am aware that the urge to clamp the plates down when gliding like we may do with some other irons isn't required at all. And I don't miss out on having a higher temp option like I would on other irons. This was a concern when I first got the original one but I quickly learned that hotter (even for my African American textured hair) doesn't mean better. Oh, and of course, the little tab you can use to make your iron flight compliant remains so for most places you may fly to you can take your iron along for the trip. Overall, I still feel that the Corrale is a great option as long as you have realistic expectations. It is definitely an investment so if the price tag makes you a little nervous I would suggest getting an extended warranty if you can just to give you a little peace of mind. The 2 year warranty is excellent. I would prefer that Dyson went back to providing a full sized dock with the travel dock as an additional accessory included or purchasable if needed as I do have some concerns that the travel dock is much easier to break thanks to it's cheaper materials and somewhat flimsy feel but at least you know you will have the warranty to cover if it does happen to break.

This was a gift, and it worked really good has cool features. I like the fact that it’s cordless . So you don’t have to deal with a cord. It worked pretty good. Unfortunately, it just stopped working one day. So I had to call the manufacturer and set up a replacement, which actually wasn’t too hard to do but now i’m just waiting for the replacement to arrive. I honestly gave it three stars because of the fact that I expected it to last longer,,,, For the price that you’re paying for this product, it should last you many many years before you have any issues with it. I’m just grateful that the warranty was still good, but a little disappointed that they’re gonna send me a reconditioned model instead of a new one. So all in all, it’s pretty cool but just be aware that just because you’re paying a lot of money doesn’t mean it’s gonna be any better than something else.

The Dyson Corrale is an outstanding hair straightener. It heats up quickly, smooths the hair with very little effort, and the cordless design makes styling incredibly easy. The flexing plates really reduce damage, leaving the hair shiny, soft, and sleek. The Copper/Nickel finish is beautiful and feels very high-end. Excellent performance and absolutely worth it!

Amazing for both straight and wavy styles . It is a big heavier than other flat irons . Love the colors and charges fast . Do wish the battery lasted longer but still very convenient. You can even use it on the go as long as it is fully charged. Wish it still came in a case like the first ones.

I have had the same hair straightner for the last 12+ years and it is still going strong. I decided on a whim that maybe it was time to try something new. I was intrigued by the fact that the Dyson boasted that it could be used wirelessly but also that the flexible plates made it to where it would shape around your hair, allowing for more control that is said to enhance styling and allow for less heat to be used. Dyson claims this helps decrease damage to hair. Unfortunately, I did not find this to be true on my fine hair. I have fairly straight hair already so it usually does not take much to get my hair fully straight. Unfortunately, this flat iron took nearly double the passes and time to achieve the same straigh look even at the highest temperature. I also had issues with it breaking my hair and ripping it out. When you glide it through your hair it does not do so smoothly. It feels and sounds like you are dragging sandpaper across your hair. I've never experienced such a sensation from a flat iron. I did have a slightly different experience trying it on my daughter's thick curly hair however. On her hair I did not experience the pulling and breakage. It straightened her curly hair very easily. Being able to use it wirelessly is a great touch. When reading up on this, many mentioned they didn't feel it lasted long enough on a single charge when using it wirelessly. I did not find that to be the case. I was able to straighten both my hair and my daughters long, thick, curly hair in on one charge. Another positive is the built in safety features. There is a little tab on the side with a picture of a house and an airplane. If you pull that out and put it back in with the arrow facing airplane, it cannot be turned on, meaning no accidental turn ons in your bag or around younger children. It also locks closed with a little button on the side. Another positive is the little carrying 'case' it comes with that doubles as a heat mat. All in all I think it depends on the type of hair you have to determine if it is a great product for you; however for the price point it's at, I wasn't overly impressed and will likely stick with my old straightner most of the time.

Hello Heather, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that you haven't had a better experience while using the Corrale. The flexing plates allow you to have a much looser grip on the base of the handle of the Corrale. You can also lightly grasp the cool touch tips for added control, while using your device. You should find than when your hair is completely dry, and you're using smaller sections of hair, you won't experience the issue you're describing here. If you still have any questions or concerns that we can help to address, feel free to get in touch with us at [email protected]. We are always happy to help!

The Dyson Corrale Hair Straighener is advanced hair technology in your hands. First off, the price is steep. I will say though that they back it up with high quality materials. From the moment I opened the box I was impressed with the quality. It was well packaged and has all the accessories you need. There's a stand that can charge as you work on your hair, a charging cord, and a heat resistant velvet carrying bag. All the materials are sturdy and feel like they will last for a very long time. Now to the performance side. The "flexible heating plates" are not really physically flexible, but they definitely grab the hair as a comb would, and keeps it in line as the straightener moves downward. The hair does not slide out towards the edges like a typical straightener does. The dyson does not pull your hair either. My girls do not gripe at me when I use this, it's very gentle and doesn't get hung up either. It smoothly glides through the hair to edges. I like to curl the edges under and I was blown away at the results. It looks like a used a curling iron for the tips. I like to spend the least amount of time styling my hair and makeup, I'm always in a hurry. This flat iron is so efficient, thank you! It can last cordless for 30-40 minutes. I use it for 5 mimutes or less a sitting (like I said, I don't like to spend lots of time getting ready). 30-40 minutes is plenty. For thicker hair, just plug in the base and keep the unit cordless as you work. It charges as you set it down so I imagine it could last longer if needed. I did use it with and without the cord. I didn't mind the cord on because I've never known any different. After I used it with no cord, oh boy, I am not going back. So easy! The hair didn't once get a crimp line from the dyson. It heats up in less than a minute, probably less than 30 seconds. It's convient, well built, and gives beautiful results. It's expensive but definitely worth it. *See pictures for before use, after use on one side (curled tips), one side used with a competing straightener, and fixing the competitor job with the dyson.
