I’m not sure if it was defective or not.  it did not heat much and it pulled hair. it was too heavy anyways, so I just returned it.

I need to keep putting it to charge every time that I do one strand of hair and the blades make my hair frizz. Would not recommend.

More of my hair broke off than with my previous straightener and it feels and sounds like my hair is going through a cheese grater.. I wouldn’t even pay 1/3 for this product. Returning item, Very disappointed.
