Please keep in mind that your machine will offer three suction modes for use with cleaning around your home. Along with three different suction modes, you will also have a suction control slider at the cleaner head for use with cleaning across both hard floors and carpet. As a result, we would not expect you to require the MAX suction setting, as it is only intended for use with tough cleaning jobs and also provides the least amount of run time, while providing additional power for the job.
In suction setting 2 Dyson Cyclone V10 will provide up to 20 minutes of run time with a motorized cleaner head or up to 30 minutes when used in suction setting 1. Without the motorized cleaner head, Dyson Cyclone V10 will provide up to 60 minutes of run time on a full charge, making it our longest running cordless model to date. Very Disappointing!

I had to select the maximum power since at lower powers it does not have sufficient suction power. The battery lasted around 10 minutes. Quite shocking considering the high price of these machines. But, the most annoying feature of this machine is the absence of a trigger lock mechanism. Keeping the trigger depressed is uncomfortable unless you work with weights in the gym everyday! One should not have to get an after market trigger lock. Too much hoopla and little value!

I can confirm that when using this mode, run time will be significantly less. The battery powers both the motor of the machine as well as the brush bar motor in the motorized attachments. Using the higher suction modes will result in shorter run times. With regard to the trigger on the machine, we know that battery run time is a very important aspect of performance for our owners, so we developed a trigger that helps maximize the amount of time you can clean on one charge. We chose a light-touch trigger over an on/off switch to ensure that battery life is never wasted by letting the machine run when it's not in active use.

Starts on its own without touching power trigger.

Also have a Dyson DC44 Animal cordless which I use daily for animal hair. Decided to get another cordless Dyson for a quick and easy vacuuming of a room in the house. Bought the Dyson Cyclone V10 Animal cordless. Have had nothing but bad luck with it. Had it about three months and then it would just turn on all by itself (hands not even near on trigger) and it won’t shut off. You have to hit it to get it to shut off. Now at full charge you are lucky to get 40 seconds of vacuuming with it even set on low. I wash and dry the filters, make sure it is fully charged, all the proper maintenance. I Guess I just got a lemon. I would be careful if purchasing the Dyson Cyclone V10 Animal. Be sure to really use it when you first get it to see if it acts up.

Not worth it. Broke right after warranty expired

Prior to that, buttons were falling off and being help up with tape. Suction with attachments is useless (min suction). Overall unhappy with the vacuum. Only positive comments is that it was lightweight and easy to move. Overpriced and regret the purchase.

Clueless in Snellville Ga

Run time is very low on the boost setting less than 10 minutes of run time very poor. No light on the vacuum really. The trigger is super sensitive and the overall vacuum doesn’t seem very durable for a $500.00 vacuum. What ever you DO NOT order anything online from the Snellville Ga. Location they are completely clueless. Your order will not be ready in 1 hour as advertised!

My son and daughter in law not impressed

They were not impressed with the capacity of the machine. I guess it may be used as an auxiliary vacuum cleaner, but not as a house hold one.

Dyson cord-free machines offer anywhere from 5-60 minutes of run time on a single battery charge. It sounds like you may be using your machine in the medium suction mode, which will give about 20 minutes of run time as described.
