Battery life is terrible, when new and now no battery. Clogs easily when picking up items like kids cereal.

Worked fine for a while then it just stopped working. Motor won’t turn in at all but the blue indicator lights come on like during normal operation.

I have the previous generation of this vacuum - this one blows it away. I love that you can select between three power modes. Additionally, this one comes with two big rollers - one for carpet and one for hard floors - very cool. The power on this one is just as good, if not better. We have two cats and this thing sucks up hair that I didn't even know was on the floor - amazing suction for a battery powered vacuum. Also, it has a new way of emptying the dust bin - I like it a lot. The wall mount comes with screws and anchors to secure to the wall, so I was able to install easily and get this beautiful vacuum docked in our laundry room. All in all, a must purchase. Highly recommended.

Battery pack failed less than 1 month after purchase. Replacement battery on back order. Company wouldn't replace with a new vacuum.

I’ve been using my current canister vacuum cleaner for decades and it still runs, so why did I get the new Dyson Animal? Well, if you’ve used a canister, you know that it can get old very quickly dragging the canister around behind you. It does have advantages over an upright--mainly that it does make the beater brush head more compact and easier to push around. Nonetheless, I was excited to try a new, more modern vacuum--one that was light and easy to use, had all the accessories I wanted, and was cordless. The Dyson Animal checks all of those boxes. We have a husky and a long-haired cat in our house, so there are always “fur tumbleweeds” present on our hardwood floors, and sometimes it’s hard to tell which one is shedding: our couch or our dog. When I heard about the extra power to handle animal fur, I wanted to give the Dyson a try. I wasn’t disappointed. The Dyson sports a very modern-looking design, and it’s one of those “stick” vacuum cleaners. That makes it thin and light and easy to carry around. The model I got has a torque drive beater head for carpet, a soft, fluffy rotating head for hardwood, and several attachments, such as brushes, a crevice tool, and very small beater brush head for use in cars. The motor sounds like a futuristic jet engine, but it has lots of great suction power and turns on/off very quickly. I was impressed with how well it did on our carpets and picked up lots of dog hair. The clear dust bin features a sliding switch that automatically opens the lid when you hold it over a trash receptacle, allowing you to empty it without touching it. At least that’s the idea. Most of the time that works, but when you’re picking up lots of pet hair, especially Husky hair, it gets spun around inside the bin by the cyclone action and is then hard to get out without pulling it out yourself. That defeats the whole purpose, but it’s not the end of the world. That is one of those times when you realize why a vacuum bag is actually better, although it does cost you in decreased suction. Being able to quickly detach the motor and clean up high with one of the attachments is great! It’s so easy to go from floor to ceiling, and the light weight of the main unit makes it no problem at all to clean all sorts of areas throughout the house. You just have to remember to keep the attachments nearby. The hanging bracket is great and has spots to store 2 attachments. Dyson has cleverly designed the bracket to accommodate the power supply, turning the bracket into a hanging charger. It’s great to be able to keep the vacuum easily accessible in a nearby closet. The Dyson Animal proved to up for any task I threw at it. It easily cleaned all of the types of floors in my home, as well as cleaning up cat hair from the futon using the small beater brush attachment that also works well on stairs and car upholstery. I think this will be a capable replacement for my trusty canister vac, assuming that the rechargeable battery is up to the task. My only gripe is with the need to manually dig out the mess of pet hairs that quickly accumulate in the dust bin. Apart from that, this is a fantastic tool!

The Dyson V10 Animal Pro Cord-free Vacuum is an amazing performer! I own several Dyson V8 Stick vacuums in my Home and they do a great job. However they do not leave the sweeper “clean carpet” lines of the Big Ball Dyson, which I also own. For quick pick-ups the Dyson V8 does the job, and eliminates the inconvenience of the large corded Big Ball. The V10 Animal Pro maintains the Stick Vac convenience while actually delivering corded, big Vac suction. LIKES: Here are the improvements that the V10 Animal Pro offers over their previous V8 and similar models: 1- The storage bin is much larger than the V8’s. 2- The tube (shaft) has a shiny, epoxy looking tough paint protection that is more durable than the V8. When sweeping under a table with a sharp edge, the previous models would show scratches; this newer paint keeps the vacuum looking like new. 3- The motor has insulation so it is super quiet and does not have the annoying high frequencies that previous models have. 4- Longer battery life. 5- Similar weight (just slightly heavier than the V8). 6- 3) Vacuum levels vs. 2) Vacuum levels on the V8 and similar models. Use just the power you need with extended battery life on the lower power modes. 7- 3) Powered heads are included - carpet, hardwood and a small powered pick-up head. 8- Unbelievable vacuum pick-up power compared with the V8 or equivalent. 9- Perfectly balanced in your hand, just as is the V8 and equivalent. 10- The powered carpet cleaning head has a new feature. It is a slide switch, open to pickup large debris, or close to increase suction. DISLIKES: The previous V8 and equivalent stick vacs could have the bin dumped by pressing the bin release lever. The new V10 requires the tube (shaft) be removed (simple push button to remove the tube) each time the bin needs to be dumped before you slide the bin release lever. This is not a major inconvenience; however I tend to empty the bin less frequently, as a result. CONCLUSION: The Dyson V10 Animal Pro picks up like a corded Vac with the convenience of a cordless. The Dyson V10 Animal Pro easily earned my Highest Recommendation and 5 Stars!

Took out of the box and it did not work. Best Buy returned it for me.

Can’t even return or exchange it, they won’t even help me with the process

Having owned and worn out a Dyson V6 over the past several years, we knew it was time for a replacement, but we weren't ready for the improvements that had come to the Dyson cordless family! The V10 Cyclone / Animal Pro is improved in every way, even over the existing V10 products! The enlarged canister is not only higher capacity, but the issues with opening and dumping the canister over previous generations seems to be completely resolved, with the canister now dumping forward instead of below the unit. The "scrubber" inlcuded in the process also makes cleaning out the chamber much simpler. The attachments are plentiful in this bundle, which includes a motorhead for multi-floor use which worked great on our carpet and hard floor combo areas (about 50% of my house is hard floors and the rest is carpet, so having a decent all-in-1 head was great. We used the hard floors head on several occasions to remove dust and dirt from floors like the kitchen where a dry-mopping is sometimes required. The other included motor head is more of a furniture/drapes/stairs head with a more narrow coverage, which was great for cleaning the stair carpets in my home. Suction is even better, and now power levels can be set and maintained without manually choosing the overdrive button from the older models, and battery life seems much improved. The choice of heads, and the primary head's features for pickup were a big difference in the system's ability to pick up larger items, and clean dusty surfaces more thoroughly. The included wall mount is an easier-to-use setup, with the vacuum just sliding in from above now (no more awkward, spring-loaded attachment). All in all this was an improvement in every way. We use our new V10 daily and its definitely set a gold standard for vacuums in our home.

I loved this vacuum cleaner! It worked great until it stopped charging. Luckily I had Geek Squad on it, but when I went in to get the same vacuum again (I didn’t care that it failed working, it worked so well prior to that) BestBuy wasn’t selling it anymore and that was such a disappointment.

The Dyson V10 Animal Pro is replacing my first and favorite stick vac, which is a 5 year old Dyson stick vac, that still runs as strong as the day I bought it. To preface this review, in my house I have two dogs, area rugs, hard wood, stairs and carpet. As you could imagine, I tested it on everything. The package included a vacuum, a wall dock, wall plug, three motorized heads and 3 non-motorized crevice tools. I found that each one of the motorized heads serve a function and they all perform that function well. The adjustable suction head does an absolutely amazing job on rugs, stairs and carpet. The fuzzy head cleans dog hair off wood floors and tile very well. The small head does great in hard to reach places such as behind the couch and the 3 crevice tools do a great job on ceiling fans, door crevices, window sills, and window blinds. Some additional great features include the long battery life and the fairly quick charging time. However, there were two things I really didn't like. The first was the orientation of the canister. When vacuuming inside the car it protruded so much that it was not really suitable for cleaning cars. It was also awkward to empty out in the trashcan. The other thing was that the dock only held two attachments which meant I had to find a place to store everything else. With all that being said, I think this is an excellent vacuum and since its a Dyson, I am confident it will last for many years to come. 

I found this vacuum really disappointing for the price. I've been using an LG cordless stick vacuum for about a year, and love the ease of cleaning. I don't love the small bin and modest suction power, though, and have found the bin somewhat difficult to empty properly when it has lots of debris. I thought Dyson would solve these problems, so I jumped on this vacuum when it went on sale. While the suction is there, I don't find it makes any difference on hard floors. It's also MUCH too long for a shorter person (I'm 5'4"), making it awkward to maneuver since it juts out so far in operation. The bin holds about the same amount, and is equally challenging to clean. The handheld portion is considerably heavier than my Shark, too, so it's much less pleasant to use, especially to lift overhead or on stairs. In fact, the LG does all the things this one does, but it's far easier on the hands and wrists. (and it stores with an extra battery, so I can clean longer if the first battery depletes mid-clean). Something that hadn't been mentioned anywhere I read about this vacuum was the power button. I got incredibly annoyed having to hold down the power button to keep it running. I haven't the foggiest idea why this was considered a good design idea, but it's just a nuisance. Finally, there's no way to store and charge this vacuum as packaged without putting holes in your wall. The LG comes with a stand that allows me to store it against the wall or secured with screws, my choice. Apparently, I have to spend another $150 to get this convenience with this vacuum. If you're renting or just don't want holes in your wall just to store a vacuum, consider yourself warned. It certainly has the signature Dyson build quality, but it's not actually any better than my LG, and in some ways (the power button, wall damage), it's worse. So disappointed that the value simply isn't there. I expected more from Dyson.

Great vacuum, easy to use and clean. decent battery life

Most amazing vacuum I’ve ever owned. I have 2 extremely hairy dogs and this gets every bit of hair and dust off both my tile floors and rugs. Love it! Also replacement parts from Dyson are extremely affordable, much cheaper than buying a new one!!

Coming up on having this vacuum for 3 years. It lasted almost the whole time but did have a few things on it wear out. The battery will not run on full power for more than 15 seconds. The dust container does not stay locked to the unit when emptying and slides all the way off. This actually makes it easier to fully clean the unit tho and does not affect functionality. The soft brush head is amazing on our non-carpeted floor and works great on small area rugs too. The carpet head works great, but I wish it was a little heavier as it seems to lift up when vacuuming forward. The vacuum is lighter than other brands and my young kids love to use it to vacuum without the stick. Overall this is a great vacuum. Be ready to replace the battery every couple of years tho.

This was a treat to myself and boy does it deliver my place was a haven for dust. it was immense not being held back by a cord and the extra applications are superb. A super clean flat now delivered in Apple style packaging. MUST BUY!

Overall would recommend, however, some key parts are made of plastic and just broke off over time which is disappointing considering the cost of the vacuum.

This thing is a beast, helping keep our dog hair under control.
