A few months ago, I was introduced to the cordless stick vacuum as a home maintenance device. I fell in love with them. I hate cords and so the cordless option for floor cleaning was an ideal product for me. The only issue I’ve had with the stick vacuums I’ve used is power. That problem has been solved with the release of the V10 cordless stick vacuum from Dyson. This vacuum is designed to be just as strong (suction-wise) as the bigger vacuums from Dyson. You can use it for small jobs or the entire house. Dyson considers it to be a ‘true’ replacement for traditional full-size vacuums. It’s flexible and can twist around obstacles in your home. It is rechargeable and will be fully charged within 3.5 hours. The V10 arrives in a brightly colored Dyson-branded box. I was actually surprised that the V10’s outer shipping box also had the ‘Dyson’ name on it. The box was easy to open and all the parts were packaged inside cushioned cardboard cartons. There is assembly required, but the main engine body is all one piece. Dyson makes putting the vacuum together very easy. They not only include an illustrated guide for the wall mount, but there is also an illustration for assembly of the main unit on the cover of the operating manual. The manual includes a full illustrated guide with written instructions in both English and Spanish languages I really like how both types of instructions are included. Some people work better with drawings and pictures than just words. So, it’s great that both are available. Putting together the vacuum is really very easy. The engine section snaps together with the stick body, which in turn snaps into the head of the vacuum. Even though the vacuum comes with a partial charge, it’s best to charge it up full before using it. After I charged the vacuum, I ran it around our house. There are three levels of power on the vacuum — one, two, and MAX. When I was on carpeted areas in our house, I used the MAX setting since a lot of our floors have thick carpet. We do have both carpeted and non-carpeted floors in our home though, so I had the opportunity to use setting 1 as well. Dyson referred to this as the ‘base’ setting. Suction-wise the V10 works great. I’ve had no problems with it cleaning the floors in our house. There have been a few times that debris hasn’t been picked up 100%. Sometimes it will blow debris around instead of being sucked into the vacuum. So, I have had to go over areas more than once in non-carpeted floors. That actually wasn’t a surprise though as most of my cordless stick vacuum experiences have caused that to happen. There are two features of the V10 that I feel are lacking. First, the vacuum won’t stand up on its own. While this isn’t really a big deal until you want to store it, I still wanted to note it here. Second, you have to hold in the power button the entire time you are vacuuming. I’ve had other cordless vacuums that allow you to lock the trigger in place so that you don’t have to keep it held in the entire time you are vacuuming. It’s not such a big deal if you are cleaning a small spot in the house, but if you are doing all the floors, it can become a chore to keep it held in. Other than those two things, I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the V10. It’s a very capable vacuum and it has become a replacement for our full size vacuum. We typically vacuum the house — the high traffic areas — every other day with the V10 and then on the weekends we use the full size vacuum everywhere. This helps keep dirt and dust to a minimum in the house. Truth be told, the V10 can do the job, but it does take a bit longer because the canister has to be emptied. It’s a great vacuum and a welcome addition to our home.

The Dyson Cyclone V10 Stick Vacuum came securely packaged with form fitting cardboard. It had approximately 20% charge on the battery so that it could be used straight out of the box. The instructions said that a complete charge from dead battery to full charge would take about 3.5 hours. Testing the vacuum on both carpet and hard floor, I was pleased with the results. On maximum power, the vacuum is fairly loud but not enough to bother me. It did an excellent job and my carpet looked as though it had been vacuumed by an upright vacuum cleaner. In my opinion, you wouldn’t really need another vacuum cleaner for your carpet. I tested the vacuum on my hard floors on the lowest suction and it still did a wonderful job of getting every bit of dirt and dust. Naturally, the vacuum was quieter on the lowest setting. Next I tested it on my carpeted stairs and I was very impressed with how easily I could accomplish this job. Going sideways across each step, the floor head was the perfect width for the stairs since I did not have to do half a step then do the other half. Plus with the excellent suction, I felt that it was doing as good a job at removing loose dirt and dust as my upright. It was so much easier to accomplish this task that I am sure I have found a permanent solution for vacuuming the stairs. Two of the features that work well together are the low profile of the floor head/wand along with the swivel feature. I tried to vacuum under my tables and they all have low shelves that are only about 2.5 to 3 inches off the ground. I could easily vacuum the entire area under all 6 of my tables by putting the wand parallel to the floor. Since the handle on the vacuum wouldn’t let me lower it all the way, I swiveled the handle and it all worked perfectly. I used to have to vacuum under one-quarter of each table as I moved around the table and now I can vacuum under the entire table at once, so this feature was very much appreciated. The charge lasted long enough for me to finish all of my carpeting on high and all of my hard floors on the lowest setting in my 2600+ sq ft house. I didn’t try the medium setting on the hard floors because the lowest setting was doing such a good job. I also used the lowest setting to vacuum some throw rugs and they looked great after vacuuming on that setting. The vacuum comes with a crevice attachment and a combination tool attachment that can be used as a brush tool or an upholstery tool. These attachments can either be attached to the end of the wand, or the wand can be removed and the attachments can be snapped in to the place where the wand was attached. This allows you great versatility in the use of the machine. For example, when I vacuum the back of my SUV, it would be easier to do this job without the long wand. The vacuum also came with a docking station and instructions for installation. The cord that came with the vacuum can be snapped into the docking station so that whenever you replace the vacuum on the station, it will be charging whenever you are not using it. However, if you do not want to install the docking station, the cord can be plugged directly into the vacuum for charging. The instructions recommend cleaning the filter at regular intervals, but if you forget there are LED lights to tell you when the filter needs to be cleaned as well as lighta for blockages, and the filter being attached incorrectly, so if you just use the built in lights, you should have no problem with remembering. The instruction guide uses a lot of pictures and not enough writing. It took me a while to figure out the meaning on some of them, and I could find nothing on recommended uses for the attachment tools. I am ambivalent about the trigger function of the vacuum. On one hand, it is a one button operation, but on the other hand I keep accidentally pressing it when I don't mean to and I have to hold it in the entire time I am using it. I think I would have preferred an on/off button. Pros: Cordless, excellent suction, size of floor head, maneuverability, run time, low profile, light weight, docking station Cons: Noise level, instruction manual Summary: This is definitely going to be my go-to vacuum for stairs and hard floors. I'll also be using this for carpet touch-ups in-between my thorough weekly vacuuming, although it works well enough to replace most full-sized models.

Dyson claims the new v10 is a full blown replacement for any corded vacuum and on the power front, at least, it does not disappoint. This new version of the company's vac stick, clad in Dyson's trademark hot rod colors, does seem to have the power to match its corded relatives. But that comes at a price. Because it is a stick, it takes a bit more muscle to push this thing across carpet. The power head is not suspended above the carpet, as is the case with bigger corded vacs. It just rests on top of it. So there is a lot a drag. Even moreso if you opt for the most power (there are three settings). The good news is it's a much more agreeable machine on hard floors. Tiny wheels on the front of the powerhead and rollers in the back mean it glides effortlessly across tile, wood or similar surfaces regardless of power setting. As with most vac sticks, the Dyson V10 also converts to hand vac, albeit a somewhat unwieldy one, by removing the power head tube and opting for one of the two included attachments. The main motor is a bit too large and heavy for doing too much in hand held mode. Not good in tight spaces. Still, this new version of Dyson's stick is smaller than the last one, and more powerful. As with all Dyson products, this one is well built and quite good looking. And pretty quiet for such a powerful machine. It arrives broken down but snaps together in a flash. Big release buttons make it easy to switch back and forth between floor vac and hand vac. and to empty it. I am not a big fan, however, of the way you empty the dirt bin. Instead of just a release for the door, the entire dirt chamber must be pushed down the tube that holds it before the door pops open. A bit cumbersome. Another oddity is the trigger on/off mechanism, which must be held down to keep the vac running. That's a bit of pain. It also does not like to be started and stopped and restarted in short order. The motor has to go through some sort of reset when turned off so you sometimes have wait a few seconds before it will run again. Annoying. The biggest advantage of the V10 is that it is a stick. No cords to wind and unwind or get tangled around furniture. Or to limit your reach. That makes the whole vac job a lot easier. That means you have to keep charged but that's a bit process is a bit faster with this model. A full charge takes about three hours (5 before) which provides up to 60 minutes of run time, less when using higher power settings. Lights show the charging state and progress. The V10 comes with a fancy wall hanger that integrates with the charger, a nice touch. Bottom line. The V10 is a powerful capable vac stick that can tackle any job in the house. But it's a far better choice for hard floors than carpets because of the extra work required there.

I always thought Dyson manufactured very good products and their price point reflected that. Which in many ways, swayed me from purchasing Dyson and going for a lesser brand name that did the same job. I guess the old adage "you get what you pay for" is true, because this Dyson Cyclone V10 does the job, but does the job even better with excellence in mind. The plastic material they used for the V10 is very lite (less than 6 lbs.) and durable with most of the weight on your hands so it's very maneuverable with rotating ball on the cleaner head. Docking station is very easy to install once you find a stud for it and power source outlet to connect to. Suction power is amazing, simply amazing. Pretty much cleaned my entire 1 bedroom apt. with a dust full of cat hair between hard wood floors and rugs. Emptying the dust bin is one easy motion down so you can dispose of the debris without missing the trash can. Definitely charge it for at least 3 hours before use, so the battery cell is at or almost full capacity. Even though I only used it for 30 min., it will still give me time to use other attachments to clean furniture, drapes, etc. My first Dyson product is not a disappointment and looking forward to acquiring other Dyson products in the future (Fan especially).

    I. Misleading Battery life. From Dyson's own Web site "Up to 60 minutes of powerful suction." Well, they forgot the lawyerly fine print "if using low power mode." I have been able to get the V10 using non-powered dusting head at max power mode to run for a total of 8.5 minutes before the battery is depleted. While in this mode it picked up a lot of dust in seat cushions that a 6HP shopvac with a fabric cleaning head missed. So it's impressive to say the least. When I step the unit down to a lower power mode, it runs for much longer. I called Dyson and they admitted that the unit should run for 9 minutes in max power mode - a far cry from the slightly misleading advertising of "up to 60 minutes." I find the next lowest power mode lasting about 20 minutes. Beyond that, the suction really drops off and isn't what I need to pull dust off of hardwood floors. II. Attachments are different form factor from previous Dyson cord-based product. However, you can get adapters for your older Dyson heads on-line. III. The filtration system is excellent, and per Dyson's web site is down to 0.3 microns and it isn't into redistributing dust throughout your home like many other hand-helds do. I don't see an airborne dust cloud while vacuuming. IV. Small form factor and fits in the smallest of places and comes with proper mounting hardware. V. Nice 2 year warranty where they pay for all shipping. Not comprehensive like the Best Buy protection plan is, but it tells you something about their confidence in the product.

Highly disappointed. I have been waiting s long time to own a Dyson, after having a Eureka vacuum for years. When the time was right , I happily purchased the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal upright vacuum - $499. I returned that vacuum because it was SO heavy to maneuver. The pushing and pulling was with much effort, giving me a exhaustive unneeded workout for my arms. I returned it a week later, and bought the Dyson cylone V10 motorhead cord-free vacuum. OH, what a mess! This vacuum does not hold its charge...The first time I used it, it held its charge for 10 min...The second time, for 20 minutes! I HATE being at the mercy of the charge of this vacuum. I do not understand why there is not an electrical cord just in case you you do not have time to charge, or for situations such as this one. This was a $449 purchase! NOT a cheap one for sure. You do have to press the button to vacuum the whole time you are using it, which is not so much a big deal since you do not have to press on it so hard. Also, the second star is because it actually does a nice job vacuuming my wood floors and carpet....Just thoroughly disappointed and tired right now since I have to return this one too. Dyson has such a reputable name, yet, I am not impressed with the Dyson products so far...I think I learned my lesson that higher priced does not always equate to better value. I will be physically testing my next and hopefully last vacuum.

Hi Michele, this is Krystal with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on the Dyson Cyclone V10 Motorhead. We are always improving our technology. We worked to make the Cyclone V10 trigger our lightest touch yet – it’s super responsive giving you power when you need it.
We know that battery run time is a very important aspect of performance for our owners, so we developed a trigger that helps maximize the amount of time you can clean on one charge. We chose a light-touch trigger over an on/off switch to ensure that battery life is never wasted by letting the machine run when it’s not in active use.

The new Cyclone V10 is our most powerful and longest running cord-free vacuum to date. It has three modes which allow you to change the suction level. Depending on the mode and tool attachment you use you can get up to 60 minutes of run time on a full charge.

If you are not getting the specified run times, please contact us at askdysonUS@dyson.com,
include your name and contact information, and we will be glad to assist.

      Best Wishes,
      Krystal

The Dyson V10 Stick Vacuum 1 exceeded every expectation I had for a stick/portable vacuum. I have the Dyson V8, so I didn't expect there to be much difference, but I was surprised. The V10 comes completely redesigned while still offering the best of the V-series features such as easy on/off attachments, portability, and ease of use. The V10 offers better cleaning power than its predecessors and main "marine" competitor/predator. I cleaned an area rug with the competitor and then went over it again with the V10 - the Dyson picked up everything its competition left behind and filled the collection bin while doing so. PROS - Lightweight - Easy to Setup and Use - 2 basic attachments meet the need for most uses - POWERFUL vacuum able to clean what the competition leaves behind - Dyson quality and Technology - Up to 60 minutes of use per charge is a major improvement over the V8 version at a compared 15-20 minute use CONS - Battery is not interchangeable and is a permanent part of the vacuum - The charging dock seems a little flimsy compared to that of the V8, concerned how long it will hold up Absolutely a must-have for small apartments, offices, or lightweight cleaning needs.

It's very handy and great for small cleaning jobs. Easier to pull out for when you have to clean up after the pets. Great for small spaces as well around my desk and between electronic components. So far the battery has held up for all the jobs we've used it for. It is a little bulky hanging on the wall and should be taken into consideration when deciding where you're going to store it. I had a perfect alcove with an outlet nearby which worked out well. It is an easy one push on a handle to empty the dust bin. The dust bin is a bit small but that is to be expected in a hand held device. The three speeds are handy and it picks up most things using the lowest setting but when a little extra power is needed you can switch it to higher speed very easily. Overall a great device even if it's a bit pricey. It should last many years and the few things I have that are Dyson have worked great except for one and they stood behind the product and replaced it quickly.

I had been hesitant to try a cordless vacuum since I bought a Shark Cordless about 6 years ago and it didn't hold a charge very long and didn't have great suction. This thing is fantastic. We have about 2500 sq ft on our 1st floor and I was able to vacuum all of it tonight with this thing on a single charge and it still had 1 bar of charge left. We have hardwood and rugs. It has extremely powerful suction so much so I had to decrease it to the minimal setting to go over the rugs without picking them up. I have a central vac and used it last week. The dust container was full when I finished and I really couldn't believe it since I had just vacuumed. This thing does a great job (better than my central vac) and the battery lasts also. It is not heavy and easy to use. I don't think I could get better suction with any vacuum out there. I have to say Dyson makes great products and stands behind them. I have a Dyson fan and 2 heaters. The heaters had a recall and Dyson made the recall very easy. All I had to do was take it to UPS, they packed it and shipped it back and Dyson sent me the repaired unit in a timely fashion. Dyson is expensive but they stand behind their product and that is important to me.

I like the weight of this product, I like that it has three settings to use, I like that the battery last enough (on medium) to get through the whole house. I would definitely purchase this product again. I feel that it is just as powerful as my mom's Dyson which is the corded version. I am able to get into small places and reach places without having to bend over. The only thing that would make this better is a longer lasting battery which I believe is addressed in the more updated version but for someone who need to get in and get out and not feel like they have missed anything while getting a good clean, this is perfect. I took before and after pictures.

This Dyson portable vacuum has great suction. It rivals the suction of a corded vacuum I own. The attachments can be changed quickly and easily. It comes with a wall mount that will allow you to mount the vacuum on a wall. Routing the chord and plug through the wall mount will allow you to drop the vacuum on the wall mount dock, and begin quickly charging. Despite the vacuum being nearly perfect, there are a few gripes I have. It makes a weird noise whenever you release the trigger button to stop the vacuum. Over time I will probably get used to it. I also wish the trigger button had a lock button. I have to press the trigger button in order for the vacuum to operate. If I'm vacuuming for an extended period of time, my finger becomes fatigued. An option to allow continuous operation without having to press the trigger the entire time would be great. I've been using the vacuum to detail the inside of my car. Placing the cleaning head on the vacuum allows me to vacuum the car mats. I'm able to quickly switch to the crevice tool to get those hard to reach places. It makes cleaning the inside of my car a breeze over my corded vacuum. Overall I'm truly enjoying this vacuum.

I've had cordless vacuums in the pass, but was totally unimpressed with any of them. Had a very expensive corded vacuum for down stairs and used the cordless upstairs because the corded vacuum was heavy and awkward to use upstairs. By what I thought was unfortunate luck, both of the vacuums stopped working in the same week. But it turned out to be fortunate luck, because I decided to give the Dyson Cyclone V10 a chance to prove its hype and worth. I was very skeptical, but knowing I could return it if not satisfied, I bit the bullet. So glad I did. This lightweight and easy to maneuver vacuum was even more effective at doing its job than the heavy expensive corded vacuum I replaced it with. I have primarily wood and tile floors, with one carpeted room and stairs. The battery last long enough for me to complete my 2500 SF home. Probably wouldn't make it if all rooms were carpeted, but the charge time is somewhat speedy. So, while the Dyson is quite expensive, it does an exceptional job in a lot less time than I had been experiencing with my 2 old vacuums. Recommend and would buy again.

This thing can really suck up the dirt. It has three speed settings and depending on which setting the battery lasts up to 60 minutes on a full charge. I find this thing is great for doing stairs and spot vacuuming (read cats and litter everywhere). My only complaint is the small canister that fills up very quickly so plan on making several trips to the trash can to empty it if you are doing some whole house cleaning. It is very lightweight so carry it up and down stairs is no issue as far as im concerned. I don't want to throw away my main hoover wind tunnel vacuum but I have yet to turn it on since I got this. Needs a few hours to full charge once you get it. Some small assembly required easy to read instructions. Charger comes with mounting screws to mount to wall for easy hanging, drilled a couple holes and screwed right in no issues. Nice job Dyson would like to see a bigger canister in the feature.

I’ve been using an older Bissell corded stick vacuum which I was looking to replace, let’s just say I can not believe the power & pick up this vacuum has! It was very easy to put together, just 3 pieces that snap together. I had just vacuumed my area rug the previous day & could not believe how much dirt the Dyson picked up from my rug, I guess it never was really clean before . Removing the canister to dump the dirt was a bit tricky but we figured it out. The vacuum is very lightweight but it’s a bit top heavy. The top is removable so you can use it as a car vac or for dust pickup. It comes with a crevice tool & brush attachment & also a bracket for wall mounting. It charges pretty quickly but I can’t comment on the battery life since I haven’t used it that long, battery life is suppose to be 60 min.The cleaner head swivels so it’s very easy to get around furniture & in corners. They say this will replace your full size corded vacuum & I believe it. I love this & recommend it, my Bissell is now retired.

For the first time in my life I actually enjoy vacuuming now that I have my V10. It is super easy to use and the bottom is narrow enough to fit under furniture and other areas my old vacuum was too chunky to venture. The thing is super powerful, too. The only negatives I can think of (and they really aren’t negatives since I was aware of them going into it) are that the rechargeable battery doesn’t last forever and the bin fills up quicker than you might expect. However, the battery is good enough to handle my downstairs on a charge and the bin probably fills up fast because the V10 is picking up pet hair and dust that my old vacuum would just roll over. Be sure to look into also getting the Dyson “Dok”. It comes with extra accessories and is a handy stand for the vacuum.

First off...this vacuum is very powerful. There are 3 power settings (min, medium, and max). On the max setting it will actually pick up and move the 8*10 area rug we have in our living room. The other 2 settings seem to be quite powerful as well. We tend to use the medium setting for carpet and the lower setting for our hardwood floors but the max setting leaves nothing behind. The vacuum is sleek and light weight. It's easy to handle. It takes about 3 hours to full charge a dead battery and you get 45 minutes to an hour of run time on max setting. This is my second Dyson (DC28) and my first stick vac, so I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the power and ease of use. The trash bin is decent size and easy to empty as well. It comes with a wall mount that I have put up yet but it looks simple enough. There are 2 attachments for it as well. A crevice tool and a upholstery brush. Both do as they should...crevice tool on max setting is a beast.

I have now had Dyson V10 Motorhead for 8 months and I love it! I had a competitors upright vacuum, which worked well but when I bought a new house, I thought I would need to replace or get another vacuum to avoid having to carry it around for 3 floors. I considered a robot but I am so glad I went with the cordless instead! On the lowest setting, I can vacuum my entire house (about 3100 sq ft, mix of rugs/carpet/hardwood) with one full charge. I have long hair and so far, I have not had to sit and pull out tangled hair from the machine. If I have any complaints, it's that it does not work as well with the crevice and brush attachments. I do wish it came with the Torque Drive brushroll but obviously, that's more money.

This new Dyson v10 will literally suction to the ground ! it moves a ton of air on boost mode however the battery depletes rather fast when using boost mode. Collection bin cleanup and HEPA filter washing is a breeze. The wall mount charger is a great touch. If you have thicker carpet it might be a little too much suction and will be rather difficult to clean . We have a small section of shag and there’s no point even trying to clean it in boost mode the vacuum doesn’t want to move an inch even on the normal setting it makes it rather difficult . The low setting works but a caveat is it does not produce enough airflow to clean thick carpet so it’s a double edge sword . Outside of that if you have normal carpet or hard floors this will work awesome for you !

Vacuuming has not been a favorite chore for me. Even my Dyson animal ball was cumbersome and the cord made it difficult to get around my home without re-plugging several times. Never like trying to change out the accessories to do our furniture or getting under beds and ottomans. This Dyson V-10 stick vacuum was a must-have after purchasing its predecessor which only lasted 20 or so minutes. Bought both within a month of each other and LOVE them both. Use the 40 minute stick on our main level and moved the other downstairs. They both pick up dog hair with ease and allow me to clean the furniture with the regular head (because it’s so light and no cord to get wrapped around anything. I do have to empty several times, but it’s not a problem for all the benefits. Told friends and family who have followed my suggestion and love it too!!!

An outstanding vacuum. Light but powerful.

I had debated about spending the money on a Dyson; now I wish I'd done it years ago. I have used many different brands previously; nothing compares with this. It is lightweight, flexible, easy to maneuver and never loses power. It is easy to assemble and has great dust cup capacity. I clean it after every use, and at first found it difficult to locate places where dust/dirt might be. I persisted, and now can easily clean the unit after each use. I also want to commend the service and information about this product which I received from the Best Buy employees; they were not at all pressurizing and gave me such outstanding service.
