Customers are saying

Customers find value in the powerful suction and effective carpet cleaning capabilities of this vacuum. Many appreciate its ease of use and the long cord, along with the useful attachments. However, some customers note that the vacuum is heavy and that the price point may be a concern for some buyers. The small dust canister also requires more frequent emptying.

    Powerful on pet hair

The vacuum definitley met my expectations as I was looking for something specifically to eradicate pet hair (2 dogs, 1 cat). I read other reviews warning me that it was heavy and hard to handle so I was prepared for that. I'm willing to heft the thing around, though, because it does what I need. Great suction and it seems to get down to the base of the carpet and pull out stuff I didn't even know was there. It's also nice not to have to buy bags and to see what's coming out of my carpets. It was pretty pricey, though. I hope it lasts long enough to warrant the cost. Also, the 'attachements' are tough to use.

    Best vacuum ever built!

I'm an owner of a sheep-like dog (no one knows what breed it is lol) that sheds as if its hair was on fire. I kidd you not we have been through three vacuums in two years and tbh I have had enough. All of our previous vacuums ran in the sub $200 range and I guess you get what you pay for. Not only would they loose most of their suck power after mere weeks of much needed every other day vacuuming but the attachments were also worthless and were the first to go. So here I go to BB and I'm on a mission; to find the best vacuum regardless of price. I look around and spot the DC28. Expensive, yes. Sexy, definitely. But the guys there were nice enough to let me try it and let me tell you this thing almost pulled me across the store. I was in love. I take it home and I was blown away at how easy it was to assemble. Just snap the handle on and you're good to go. Before I gave it a go I went over the house with the Shark navigator. I did not expect the Dyson to pull much off the carpet but boy was I wrong. Not only did it pull non visible deeply embedded dog hair out but it also filled with straight up dirt that no other vacuum I have used was able to put in its canister. I was both amazed and disgusted. I can't believe I lived in there for so long with that in my carpets. So to make a long story short, yes, this vacuum costs as much as a nice lcd tv but if you care about having clean carpets and floors its worth every single penny. Its well built, easy to clean out, and the attachments are a joy to use and they work! Sure, you don't get the pretty ball-wheel on the DC25 but this one is definitely more powerful and the airmuscle head really works as advertised. Don't think about it, learn from my mistakes and buy it. It will save you money in the long run and will keep your floors as clean as can possibly be. That is the reason of vacuuming in the first place, is it not?

    Great Vacuum But........

I purchased this vacuum yesterday to replace an aging Kenmore. The set-up was easy and the unit looks great. Right away I had issues with the gimmicky head release. I kept putting my foot on the areas designated and trying to release/lower the head to the cleaning position but the unit stayed locked in place. I didn't want to use too much force and ruin a new vacuum but eventually it began to work, although on occasion it continued to do this throughout the house. With two cats in the house, there is plenty of shedding. This vacuum is by far the best at picking up dirt and hair. We vacuum weekly but the amount of hair and dirty we saw in the canister was crazy. The canister is easy to empty, although when doing so, some dust is released into the air.

    This Vacuum REALLY Sucks!

We are really very impressed with this vacuum. Having owned a lot of vacuums over the years, we have never owned one that could deep clean the pile like this one does. Despite the carpets already being cleaned by our Hoover, this thing picked up a TREMENDOUS amount of dirt/dust/dander from the carpet. It was really quite sickening to see what was being left behind by the other unit! This unit comes with a number of very useful attachments. We bought this unit on sale for $479 (vs $599 regularly). It was worth the price....in fact, I think it is worth the $599 as well....but I am glad to have saved $120!). We originally wondered if this unit could really live up to all the hype.....it definitely has.

Made our carpet feel new again! It also made me feel kind of sick after seeing all the stuff that was in our carpet. It sucks up everything! I am not exaggerating the performance of this vacuum. It is simply awesome. I am sure you could find a vacuum that will work for you at a cheaper price but this thing is worth the money. We have two cats and shedding can be a problem... but I am no longer worried about pet hair with this vacuum. This thing sucked up all the hair in the carpet and with the attachments cleans the hair off the furniture. If you don't take my word for it go test the vacuum for yourself at Best Buy.

    Overall Great Product

I barely got this yesterday. I was amazed by how small the DC28 Animal actually was since I have used the other dysons and most are bigger than this except for the ball. I decided to use it in a part of the house that my father uses and was amazed how much dirt and animal hair it was able to suck out of the carpet. Had amazing suction but took a couple of times to get up all the crude. No fault of the dyson (my dad is not a vacuumer). I do not like how small the canister for holding the dirt is since it fills up pretty quickly. Do not get me wrong it sucks up amazing amounts in some areas but a small canister means more times going to the garbage. It is quick to disassemble and the quick release is nice since it is like a trap door so there is no touching of the crude. I decided then to vacuum an area that was vacuumed a week ago by another companies "animal" vacuum. The Dyson did remove a good amount of dust/dirt but barely any hair. Vacuumed the whole area, which is about 200 square feet, and was very close to filling up the canister. Overall a good product but a little steep.

    Love Dyson - 2nd one I've owned

I've had the original yellow Dyson for about 8 years and it still works like the day we took it out of the box. My husband needed a vacuum for his office, so he took that one and I replaced it with this model for our home. This thing is great and lives up to the Dyson name! We have two cats and it really picks up everything well, dust, dander, kitty litter, etc. I'm still amazed at what it picks up even if I just vacuum a few rooms that have been vacuumed just a few days before. It's not too heavy, I can easily carry it upstairs. The attachments are nice too. I especially like how you can clean the filter yourself and that parts are available for replacement if necessary. I had to replace the extension hose on my last one and it only cost about $35 and it was easy to do myself.

    POWERFUL machine

I love this vacuum. The first day I had to vacuum my rug so many times because it just kept sucking up dirt. Unbelievable. Apparently my previous vacuum wasn't doing anything. This vacuum is very powerful. The only thing I don't like is it doesn't go under beds and I'm not a fan of the attachments. It is big thick machine but man it can vacuum. I have a german shepherd, a lab and a cat. The machine is worth the price to an extent. I am pretty bad with vacuum; meaning I only vacuum on the weekends. So I empty the canister probably about 10 times when I vaccuum because the canister fills up. I save so much on vacuum bags. I use to have a hoover and I spent approx. $9 for 3 vacuum bags. This Dyson will pay for itself in no time. Again Great Vacuum!!

    EXCELLENT BUY!

I have been researching Dyson's products and playing with them in store for over 2 years. I was always hesitant about the price, but now that the price has gone down (Dyson is no longer manufacturing this model), I swooped in and bought one. I have had a Hoover for several years. Overall, it has been a good vacuum, but I have noticed that I have to vacuum several times to get up all the pet hair (I have two cats and all carpet in my home). I take good care of my products; I've changed the belt, replaced the filters, and kept the canister cleaned. The hoses have never been clogged, either, even with all the cat hair. When I decided to purchase a Dyson, I vacuumed my floors and emptied the canister with my Hoover several times, until I could detect no cat hair and very little dirt. I brought home the Dyson and vacuumed twice more. Not only did I retreive more cat hair, it also dug up around a cup (I measured!) of dirt and debris that my Hoover had missed! When reading the other reviews, many people complained of the hose being hard to stretch, and not being long enough. I have tried it out on several occassions now (I enjoy vacuuming now), and see how it is hard to stretch. It's hard to stretch because of how much suction is at the end of the hose. Also, I am 5 feet tall, and was able to effectively clean the TOPS of the ceiling fan. Maybe the other reveiwers are on ladders? Overall, I love love love my Dyson, and highly recommend it to others. I would have even paid full price, had I known exactly HOW GREAT this purchase would function!

Although I have not had the DC 28 very long, I am impressed with how much it picks up. Ran my trusty old h***** wind tunnel first and could not believe how much the Dyson picked up that the old vac left. I have a dog, 3 cats and a parrot. Any bird owner knows how much bird dust accumulates and also what messy eaters birds are. The Dyson was great on bird seed - sucked it all up. The old vac used to get some of the seed and spray the rest out the back, peppering your legs with the seed it missed. Resulted in mulitple passes to get it all. Not so with the Dyson - it got it all on the first pass. Some have complained that on bare floors, furballs would get blown around and they had to chase them down. I did not have that problem - furballs, dustbunnies, feathers etc all went straight in the Dyson. The attachments took a little getting used to, but love the turbo attachment for furniture - gets the fur right off. The bare floor attachment works well too - once I figured out I was not using it properly. It is also relatively quiet for such a powerful machine. Overall - am very glad I purchased it and if it continues to perform for many years, I will be hooked for life!

Just brought ours home and Wow! We have mostly hardwood floors and low pile throw rugs. What we pulled up from one throw rug was unbelievable! It looks brand new now. My wife was disgusted at the amount hair (it really pulls out hair from pets that you just can't see), but at the same time she was happy to finally see what normally would not get picked up. It put the other vacuum to shame. It really works well on the flat surface. The attachments are essential for furniture. The purchase from Best Buy for 569.99 with 18 months same as cash is the best deal locally since it is newer to the market. This is our first Dyson product and we went out on a limb to say yes, we'll pay that much for a vacuum, but after the first use and the 5 year warranty, it was worth every cent. Buy the DC28 Animal with confidence!

This is my second dyson. I have the DC7 and thought that it was the best Vacuum until I bought this one. My First dyson started to have a few issues after 6 years. Gong to send it in to get fixed and use it for the second level Vacuum. As stated the dysons are not the lightest vacuums for going between floors. We Vacuum about every other day. This new one literally sucks to the floor and grabs all the possible dirt it can as it propels itself forward with the suction.. It is a positive thing that I used the old dyson 2 days ago and the new one, was able to only grab a little more. It shows that older ones are still very good Vacuums. The extra attachments are great! We looked at the dyson ball, but the suction did not feel as strong to me. Definitely worth the extra money. Get the DC28.

This is a good vacuum. It doesn't have a light on the base though, like i was used to on my Fantom Thunder that has lasted me over 17 years and still working great. I've read the reviews before i purchased this and for all the complaints that this vacuum is heavy to push is not true. This vacuum is very easy to push and use. You'd have to be 1 of the weakest humans on the planet if you think this vacuum is hard to push. The suction on it is excellent and cleans very well. The attachments are very useful and you definitely can clean under your bed or hard to reach places with them. The suction and cleaning power of the attachments and hose is also great. My only concern is the hose, it looks very cheap. But it has a 5 year warranty. If the hose would fail due to wear and tear within that time frame and if Dyson did not replace it, I would just never purchase their brand again. I called them and they said they would and that the hose should last.. Overall the vacuum is excellent at this price. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great vacuum. You will be happy with the cleaning power that it has. I'm satisfied with this vacuum so far. If you have any problems just read the very simple to understand instructions manual it comes with or call the customer service friendly support. Don't forget to register your vacuum for the 5 year warranty once you receive it.

I moved into a condo recently and the previous vacuum I had stopped working. I always wanted to know what all the fuss was about with Dyson vacuums. After extensive research, I decided to invest in a real vacuum cleaner since previous vacuum cleaners I owned didn't seem to last long. However, I could not see spending $500 on a vacuum. I checked out a lot of retailers (online and brick and mortar) and saw this vacuum at a clearance price of $279.99 at BestBuy.com. That's a lot of money but considering how many times I have replaced a vacuum cleaner over the past few years, it almost seemed like a bargain. My decision was also aided by having two small dogs who "don't shed". While this particular unit does not have the signature "ball" maneuverability, it still was a Dyson. I ponied up the cash and decided this vacuum cleaner should do the trick. It did. Upon assembly (which took less than five minutes), I gave the vacuum its first test; my hallway. This sturdy and powerful unit pulled up dirt and pet hair instantly. It's heavy, though. It will most definitely give your arm a workout. But the result was astonishing. The carpets looks brand new again. The debris sucked into the chamber makes me wonder when was the last time a real vacuum was used in here. I haven't used the attachments yet, but the hose is stiff. With use I'm sure it will become more flexible. I wholeheartedly recommend spending the dough to get this vacuum. It has the power to clean, is sturdy enough to take a beating and the price is a steal. A five year warranty is an added benefit. Note: This is now a discontinued model but parts are readily available at Dyson's website.

We had a Dyson, Orick and Hoover already and knew we liked the Dyson best. (We are big on vacuums in our house.) I got the Dyson Animal DC28 and love, love, LOVE it! I was nervous about the price, but I have 2 dogs and 3 kids that track in amazing amounts of dirt. My Labrador tracked in so much mud I thought I would have to clean the carpets. After the mud dried, I vacuumed with the new Dyson and it came clean without the cleaner! Amazed! The different levels for carpet and bare floor are easy to change while in use. I strongly recommend this vacuum. All Dyson's are by far superior to other vacuums, but this is unbelievable!

This is acutally my second Dyson. The first I've had for 8 years and is now starting to slow down. So, I've up graded just a bit. I have to admit that I was shocked when the I turned it on and it started to pull its self across the floor. The suction is very powerful. Even though I already had a Dyson, I was surprised at all the dirt that it picked up. I do have to be careful with it on the floor mats so that it doesn't suck the ends in but, it cleans those well also. The only thing I can find that I'm not completely happy with is the assessories storage. I wish there were more areas for the attachments.

I was amazed by this vacuum cleaner!! I originally bought the Electrolux vacuum and the moment I got it home I KNEW I had made a mistake!! I got home from Best Buy with it, put it together and was very unhappy. So I headed back to Best Buy the same day and got this vacuum! I am AMAZED!! I can't believe what my other vacuum cleaner was leaving behind. I was actually disgusted. My Dyson cleaned so well that my carpet actually felt plush again!! I can't even see the high traffic areas in my carpet anymore. I do have one domestic short hair cat and until using this vacuum I had NO clue how much he was shedding. Thank you SO much Dyson!!!

Purchased for my home cleaning business and realized that i was missing a lot of debris with my other vacuum. This vacuum picks up not only dirt but fine dust out of very thick carpets and customers notice the difference. The wand with long extending hose is great for stairs and other hard to reach places such as light ceiling fans and heating systems. 30 ft. cords allow you to move freely without moving plug.

I don't usually take time to write these but I was so compelled I just had to. I had a Eureka bagless upright.....what a piece of junk.....I've just been pushing dirt around the house. One rug in particular had a bunch of lint on it I couldn't get up from our Bed Bath and Beyond Microfiber sheets. Dyson took this stuff up on the first pass where the hoover did absolutely nothing will multiple vacuum attempts and passes. What a deal on this thing, I will never buy anything else. for $279, I told my folks about it and they had me ordere them one with free shipping. How could you go wrong.....especially if you've ever seen the difference a Dyson makes. I am a believer. This particular one comes with all the goodies for under beds, furniture, couches, pet hair, bla bla bla. Amaziing!

I was extremely hesitant to spend over $500.00 on a vacuum cleaner. I always search online reviews before any major purchases and the Dyson DC28 had the most positive reviews out of any other vacuum I had looked at. I was very intrigued and decided to just try it knowing that if I wasn't completely satisfied I could return it. We brought it home lastnight and I cannot tell you how extremely pleased I am with this vacuum. The suction is the BEST I have ever experienced on a vacuum and I was a little shocked at the amount of dog hair and debris that it picked up. This being after I had already gone over our carpets with another name brand vacuum thinking that it had done a good job. Anyone who is a clean freak like myself or who has pets this vacuum is a must have for your home! I also like that there are no filters to buy. I had purchased another vacuum to try out as well because I was stuck between the two. This blew the other out of the water! Plus I would've had to change the filter every 6 months @ a cost of $39.99. Why not spend a little more for a more powerful vacuum that will do a more thorough job! I am very pleased with this vacuum and I hope that this helps anyone like myself who is a little skeptical! I should also mention that Best Buy matched their on-line price so we saved $!! It doesn't get any better than that!
