Customers are saying

Customers find value in the powerful suction and effective carpet cleaning capabilities of this vacuum. Many appreciate its ease of use and the long cord, along with the useful attachments. However, some customers note that the vacuum is heavy and that the price point may be a concern for some buyers. The small dust canister also requires more frequent emptying.

    Love it!

I love that all the filters are washable and there are no vacuum belts. This means that this vacuum doesn't cost anything to up keep. We moved into a home with what seemed to be spotless white carpets that had just been professionally cleaned. This vacuum filled the entire canister on my first vacuuming! I was amazed. I love how easy it is to change the height of the vacuum for the varying floors-just push one button. I have three different types of floors, and I use three of the different settings every time I vacuum. It is so nice to not have to change any heads when I switch floors. I was worried that the suck was so strong that it would wear out my carpets, so I vacuum on a slightly higher setting. This vacuum pulls itself along when I do this. It never advertised to be self-propelled, but I swear it is. I did have to get used to the long wand on the end of the hose, but the hard wand does make it a lot easier to vacuum my bathroom rugs. I like that the wand pops off if I want to do my stairs or car with only the flexible hose. I would recommend this to anyone. I have had it for three months now and not regretted it at all. I have multiple family members that have owned dysons for years and they seem to be very durable. No one has needed to repair one yet!

    Impressive Super Vacuum

I just picked up the vacuum today and I must say that the vacuum is definitely not your average vacuum. Once I got home, I was excited to take it for a test run and ran it over my area rug. Although I just vacuumed it the other day, I was amazed to see how much the Dyson picked up. Although the product was pretty expensive, I think in the long run it will be a great investment. I definitely recommend this product!

I've had the Dyson DC-28 for 15 months now and hope my review will help someone in their decision. Bottom line, for the now $650 price, save your money and buy something else. I was recommended Panasonic or Riccar vacuum (made in USA) for half the price and had it demonstrated. Same suction power, better tools. I just had the main board and wiring replaced in the DC28. Got it home after 3 weeks to find now that the rear cleanout is not sealing correctly to the base after it was taken apart, resulting in poor suction New parts are being ordered for that and we wait again. When this vacuum works, it works fine, the suction and cleaning power is no different than $300 models I was shown. The worst part of this vacuum is the attachment hose for use on steps. The vacuum is heavy and the hose is long, too long on steps with walls on each side. We have nearly knocked the vacuum down a couple times due to the bulkiness of it. I just don't see the value for the price of this thing. I read a lot of reviews and researched this before I before I bought it and thought I made a good choice at the time. 15 months later I regret it, mostly from the quality and service side of things. Save your money and look at the choices I listed above. The 3 year warranty is the only saving grace for this thing right now. However, it has become very inconvenient as there is only 1 repair center within 20 miles of my home.

Not the best Dyson for everyone

I purchased the DC28 just over a year ago to replace my DC07 animal I gave to a family member. I was not thrilled from the moment I started using it. It did work well on my wall to wall Berber I have in my family room. It does have very good suction. The problem is it is impossible to use on area rugs. On one very short pile rug, it simply would not pick the cat hair no matter what setting I put it on. In the end, the only way to get it all up was to use the mattress tool. This was a time consuming nightmare. I could never run it on my hardwoods without an attachment because it marked up my hardwood floors unlike my DC07. The brush that came with it was awful. I ended up ordering several different brushes until I settled on the hardwood floor aftermarket brush. This vacuum is also very heavy to push. I am quite strong and physically fit but my shoulders would get sore pushing this thing. The push put height selector never seemed to get the height I needed. It also would periodically just stop functioning properly for no apparent reason. If someone has just wall to wall carpeting and pets only with short hair, this vacuum may work better for them. For me personally, there were way to many limitations and flaws with the way this vacuum was designed to be useful for me. I missed my DC07 every time I used this vacuum until I gave it away. I now have the Ball DC41 which is way better in just about every way.

better than expected suction on all surfaces. multi tools work great. a very user friendly vacuum. con Top of the line model does not have the automatic surface selector as the 41 does. manual switching to floor surface selector but not that big of a deal.

I have only had this machine for a couple of weeks, but I have to tell you: it does an awesome job! I chose this model (no ball) because it had all the features & attachments I wanted: It has a larger motor & a longer cord than some of the other models. The height adjustment is buttons right on the handle. And it came with the small turbo head & the flat-out floor attachments. Super easy to empty, too. It took some getting used to, only because I've always had a canister vac. My only complaint is that the hose is coiled very tightly - which I hope will loosen up with use. Yes, it's pricey - but I got an excellent deal, here at Best Buy: $479. Plus, they offered 0% for 18 months. Thanks Kevin @ Loganville for all your help!

Well, it all started with the Kirby salesman. My wife signed up for the “free” carpet-cleaning offer. Yes it did a great job and made her feel guilty (she vacuums twice a week), but then the sales pitch. The initial price was $1875, but a few calls to the manager it dropped to $750.00. So with that said we did some shopping on the Internet and talked to some other people. I’m a loyal Best Buy customer and reviewed the customer reviews on their website. It’s very rare when you see a large number of people whose average rating is very close to a 5.0. Because of price we first looked at the DC17, but there were some negative comments about problems with high pile carpets. This lead us to the DC28, not as many reviews, but all very favorable. We next went to the store and looked at both and spoke to the salesperson who was very knowledgeable and helpful, and settled on the DC28 primarily because of the 4 carpet height settings. So with all that said we bought and are very pleased. We have an Australian Shepherd and Shitzu Mix who shed lots of hair. I just had our carpets cleaned, but you wouldn’t know it with what the Dyson picked up. Yes it’s not cheap, but Best Buy had it on sale at $90 off, plus I had some Rewards Cards points which I also applied to the purchase. We are very pleased, our carpet is now clean, and soft underfoot.

I have 2 dogs and moved into a new apartment so I needed a quality vacuum cleaner. I was a little apprehensive about the price but my mom has a Dyson and loves it so I decided to buy this one. The apartment has a cleaning service come in and prepare the apartment for move in including vacuuming and shampooing the carpets. I decided to test drive my new vacuum and much to my surprise, the container was FULL of stuff after vacuuming a small area. I ended up spending the next few HOURS vacuuming the same areas over and over again just to see how much STUFF my new vacuum would pick up. It is amazing how much more this vacuum will pick up than others. I love this vacuum and highly recommend it for anyone and everyone.

Dyson continues to offer excellent products. Love the new features on this model, such as being able to adjust for the carpet pile, tools that snap to the main unit so you aren't always losing them, and easier access for home maintenance so you can keep your Dyson running great. Only warning I have is that this Dyson is heavier to push and pull around.

This is my very 1st Dyson and I was kinda skeptical about Dyson over the years because they are so expensive and I had heard mixed reviews from different people. I just happened to look at vacuums because my old one had just died and happened across this Dyson animal on super sale. I figured the stars had aligned and it was definitely time to purchase. Assembly was a snap literally and everything was up and running in less than 5 minutes. I started vacuuming and noticed the substantial amount of hair and whatever my old vacuum left behind being scooped off the floor to my surprise. I must say I love this vacuum because well it just works ...........flawlessly

I like not having to buy expensive bags, although with two cats in the house, the canister must be emtied frequently. Cleans carpets noticably better than my old vacuum. I like the long cord, ease in emptying the canister.

I recently got a new puppy and found myself vacuuming constantly. The vacuum I had was old and required bags which were getting expensive to buy. After researching several vacuums I decided to give this vacuum a try. I couldn't be happier!!! Expensive but so worth the money!! Easy to use!! Empties with a push of a button. I LOVE this vacuum! It just makes sense. So glad I spent the extra money...though I think what I will save in the cost of bags over the years will more than pay off!!!

After killing 3 cheaper vacuum's in 1 1/2 years I decided to go all out and purchase the Dyson, and I am so happy I did!! I have 3 dogs with long hair and live in an older house with tons of dust that hides from me when I dust, so no matter what it's there. This vacuum has done wonders for our house! The amount of hair and dust that gets picked up everytime we vacuum is just unbelievable! I have yet to have a problem with suction loss and I am just in awe everytime I use it. The only feature that is not my favorite is the way the attachment comes off of the main vacuum to use the hose. I think they could have designed that just a little bit better to make it easier, but all around, it doesnt matter when I am getting the results I am getting! Would recomment this to everyone!

Four and a half for this product simply due to price. It is very very expensive for a vacuum. BUT!!! You will be getting the best vacuum in the world. So the choice is a hard one to pull the trigger on but once you do you'll never regret it. The vacuum performs wonderfully.

We have a house FULL of animals! 3 cats and 3 dogs, plus 2 kids. Our old vacuum was on it's way out, but I gave it one last run before going out to buy the Dyson. I came home and immediately vacuummed the same areas I had just gone over with the old vacuum and the canister filled up in just one room! Looking at the floor before using the Dyson, I wouldn't have thought that much fur and dirt was still in the carpet! This thing is absolutely AWESOME!! Sure, there's the sticker-shock that goes along with buying a Dyson, but it's got a life-time warranty on it, so you really can't beat it! Love my Dyson!! :-)

I bought the dyson cause my boarder collie and 2 cats shed a lot. But it is not a product I like. First off, it is really heavy. Also the bagless is not the way to go, its messy and a puff of dirt comes up when you empty it I returned it and got an oreck. Also you cant even vacuum a whole floor without having to stop and empty the canister cause it fills up so fast. and washing the filter is gross and messy. plus they tell you to empty the dirt cup in a bag anyways so why wouldn't you just get a bagged vacuum that seals close and no dirt comes out. And it wont fit under anything. It does have a good warrenty though, and is powerful. Also you don't have to buy any thing for it no bags to buy and no filters. And it is quiet.

I have had a Dyson animal DC07 before and it finally quit so this was a replacement. I love the carpet adjustment feature. the other one didn't have that. I brought it home and immeaditely tried it out and even though it had only been a couple of days since the last vacuming with a Electrolux it still picked up a lot of dirt and pet hair. I used the wand attachment and it dusted great, the lamp shade I used it on was a yellow color from the dust and when I got done it was its original white. I also used the small powered attachment on my furniture and it did a great job there as well making the furniture look brand new. The only drawback I can think of is when I used it on my kitchen floor with it set on bare floor it still tended to suck down onto the floor and was hard to push. I normally use the flat floor attachment anyway so don't think this will be a problem. Great job Dyson, keep it up. I will always use Dyson

We owned a Dirt Devil Reaction - still works well. My wife decided to replace with a Shark vacuum. It worked nice, but only for about 1 month. The head unit with the brushes stopped spinning - kinda like there was a short. We returned it to Best Buy, and then checked out the Dyson's. By far the DC28 Animal was the best. The suction is great, and the carpet actually looks "raked" after vacuuming. We have three cats and one dog, and this vacuum does the job!

While it will take me a couple of months to pay this off I feel it was worth the money just after a few runs through the house. You will not believe what this will get out of your seemingly clean carpets. It has amazing power and it doesn't have a filter inside the canister like our previous vacuums -and all others I saw at the store at the time. I hated cleaning that filter as it would have to be done after every single use and it was totally filthy(it is also the main reason other vacuums lose suction after a few uses imo). I don't know how Dyson has done it but there is no filter inside the canister. Even after multiple runs and many nasty canister fillings both filters on this vacuum are spotless. However they do it, it works and I thank them much. Its extremely rare for me not to regret such an expensive purchase. I can honestly recommend this vac without second thoughts.

This is the best vacuum that I have ever owned. I always bought Bissell and Hoover vacuums in the past and I was always disappointed because they did not pick up the dirt, and they only lasted about a year. I was told by a friend about this Dyson vacuum and decided to buy it. I am totally amazed at the dirt this vacuum picks up. I bought it and brought it home and decided to use my old Hoover vacuum first. Then I used the Dyson and WOW! It found dirt deep inside my carpet that I did not even know I had. My husband and I both have asthma and we have three cats; now that I have been using this vacuum our asthma is better and we do not have cat hair all over the house thanks to this Dyson vacuum. I love this vacuum. It was worth every dime. Even though it is expensive it is worth it! If you want to have clean carpet buy this vacuum. Just do it. You will not be disappointed.
