It did NOT lose suction and it picked up a great deal more than the Hoover Windtunnel could ever pick up. The Hoover Windtunnel looses suction where the Dyson NEVER lost suction. The ease of going from carpet to bare floors is simple and the suction. Bare floor suction turns off the rotator bar and it really cleans very well. From everything I've read, some folks complained that is was heavy and sucked down to the floor. I didn't have that problem and I feel that the folks that had that problem probably picked the wrong floor setting. The Dyson is lighter than the Hoover we now have ready for a yard sale in the garage. I also found that is was not as noisy as the Hoover. The Hoover lost section as the divider bar gets dirty where the Dyson does not. This is worth every dollar and it hurt buying it but it is worth the money hands down!

I cleaned my bedroom with my old vac and then shampooed the carpet and it looked great; i then used this one and the container was full by the time I was finished with the room. I couldn't believe what the others left behind and this one picked up. Well worth the money!

This is my 2nd purple animal vacuum. I do not have animals but love the purple...I know. I loaned my daughter my Dyson last year and she did not want to return it she loved it so much. My local Best Buy had the purple animal Dyson on sale recently so I scored myself a new vacuum. I purchased my 1st Dyson 10+ years ago and it still functions and has as good a suction as my new Dyson. That says a lot about what a good product Dyson is. Love my Dyson!

At first I was afraid to by a Dyson because of the price but after using one at my mom's house and seeing how great it worked, the price no longer was an issue. Having two dogs in my house I needed something that would pick up all the dog hair. All other vacuums I used required me to go over the carpet at least twice to get all the hair up, and with the Dyson, its a once over and its clean. Great product. Do not let the price scare you away. Well worth the money!

I had heard from friends that this vacuum was the one to own for pet owners. I never felt I could justify the price until I used one of my friend's on my carpet. I had just vacuumed the very same carpet with my own and then used his Dyson. The difference was... truly awe inspiring. The rug was 5 x 8 feet and after one pass the canister of the Dyson was completely full of cat hair my vacuum had not picked up. I emptied the canister and went over the rug again. This time the canister was almost completely full after the second pass. Keep in mind, this rug was only five months old and I own one short hair cat. I went out and bought my own that day and have not regretted it at all. I only gave it a less than perfect rating because it is expensive, though worth it.

This is the second Animal I have owned and its parts have been refined: the buttons to select floor level; the new way of taking the dust bin off; the new way of getting the hose off. But most of all, ot really sucks and that is a good thing. I think at times it is sucking concrete dust from my slab through the pad and carpet it is so strong. I have 2 cats and a dog and hair is always a problem. Not with the Animal. Clean floors all the time! I love it.

This is a truly great vaccum. Setup was a snap. It was able to pull dirt out of the carpet that the old vaccum had never touched. Cleanup is a snap. This is definitely the best home appliance purchase I have ever made. Would difinitely suggest getting one if you are in the market for a vacuum. Even if you aren't and don't have one, you might want to consider it.

We purchased the Dyson Vacuum because of its great reviews. We have not been disappointed. It cleans our rugs and carpeting with ease. Our carpeting is new and we wanted the best vacuum available to clean it from the beginning. Our old vacuum was hard to turn on. The on switch was a pedal located below the collection can in a hard to reach and see area. The Dyson has all of the controls in an easy to see and reach location. You will love Dyson.

Upon my first use of this vacuum I was amazed at just how much it actually picked up. I have two dogs with long hair. Need I say more. This vacuum picked up more dog hair than I could imagine. I thought my old vacuum that died did a good job but this one really digs in. I have deep vacuum lines in my carpet that actually shows you how deep it goes. Product is expensive but so far I like what I see or should I say dont see anymore.

I debated and debated about this purchase. I finally decided to do it and am glad I did it. I brought it home, had it assembled in 15 minutes. With two dogs, I wanted to run my own "test" of my current vacuum so I did and then ran the Dyson over it and it still picked up massive amounts of stuff that was left behind from not more than 5 minutes earlier! Once you get past the initial "sticker shock" of the machine, it is well worth it!!

Dyson is the best vacuum available. It works great on stairs, carpet and lament flooring.

I currently own a Dyson DC17 Animal and it has been amazing. It has been approximately 3-years since I purchased the Vacuum from Best Buy and just today I am getting a weird noise from the brush bar motor. After calling the Dyson Support number the person I spoke with was very helpful and setup a service call for me to take my vacuum to a local shop not far from my house. I must say with the quality of the vacuum, the way it works along with the service/support that you receive from Dyson, I couldn't go wrong!

Me and my wife was shopping around for a good deal on a vacuum after about every year we would have to get a new one we have tryed all the big names out there but not the dyson till now cuz of the price.My saying is u get what u pay for we are very happy about how much it picks up we had over carpets cleaned and even after they left next day we got alot of dirt up!! Money well spent Thanks Dyson!!

I have a corgi who sheds like crazy, he is part of the family and therefor on the couch, our bed, and anywhere else. This vacuum picks up his hair and more! Great on the wood floor, love the how the handle releases and you can reach anywhere. The HEPA is wonderful as I am an asthmatic and so easy to clean. NO CLOGS!

I love everything about dyson vacuums aside from the weight. This one is a bit heavy for an old lady to lug around, but I'm not an old lady lol.

I have 3 Golden Retrievers that live inside. I have carpet, hardwood and tile floors. The vacuum has amazing suction and pickup power. A great feature is the handle that releases quickly and easily for vacuuming under or above counters, furniture, etc. In my opinion the vaccum is certainly worth the expense.

I've had several Dyson's for the past 8 years or so. I love the product when it works. The reason I've had several different Dyson's is because after about 2 years, they break. Best Buy replaced one of them since I had the extented warranty but then Dyson's warranty changed to 5 years and I figuered I didnt need to purchase the extended warranty from Best Buy. Once again the vaccuum broke at around 2 years and Dyson WILL NOT stand behind the product. I sent out the vaccuum to be repaired to their recommended repair shops and after 3 attempts, sent it directly to Dyson where it came back in WORSE condition than when I sent it. Now they want to send me a USED one which I declined. If they cannot fix the broken one I sent them, can I be sure they will send me a used one that works??

I couldn't believe the amount of dirt it picked up my first time using it. I have off white carpet - it's just my husband and me with no pets. I didn't realize what my old vacuum was leaving behind. I purchased the DC-28 Animal based on reviews and from family and friends. I certainly was not disappointed. It costs a little more, but I think it was worth it. It takes a little getting used to the flexible hose and attachments, but still works well. The vacuum is a little bulky, so getting under furniture takes a little extra effort. Overall, I am very satisfied and would recommend it to anyone.

Purchased at Christmas for my wife who's been begging for one for 3 years now. Paid $560ish for it. Within a couple hours of usage the thing started making a noise which sounded like something loose banging around. Took back to Best Buy and they gave us a new one. Dyson is supposed to be the elite vacuum cleaner and to have problems out of the box leaves me highly skeptical. Only time will tell the true tale if this was worth the money or not.

I have 3 dogs and one cat, all of which shed. I just recently had a baby and decided that I needed a vaccuum that actually picked up all the dog/cat hair. After hearing about the dyson, I went back and forth about getting it. Finally I caved in and couldn't be happier. My baby can crawl around on the floor and I don't have to worry about pet hair being everywhere. It is a GREAT vaccuum and I would recommend it to everyone..in fact I already do :)
