The first description that came to mind for me when using this vacuum is that it’s mind blowingly impressive…which is ironic because you know, it does the opposite (it sucks things up if that wasn’t clear). Ok, terrible joke, moving on. But seriously, Dyson continues to show why (in my opinion) they are one of the best out there for superb quality vacuum cleaners. I honestly can’t quite believe how effect the Outsize is. I have a German Shepard/Korean Jindo mix (yep, really), and she has a double coat, meaning she has two layers of fur…meaning she sheds a LOT. After giving her a bath, loose fur flies off of her for days and ends up all over my house. You can actually see layers of it in the carpet. The Dyson Outsize is a life saver in dealing with this. It gets it ALL, on hard floors, carpet, rugs, stairs, you name it. It’s almost effortless on my part because it just glides along but don’t let that fool you, the suction power is unmatched, particularly in any other cordless vacuums. I love cordless vacuums because I live in a house with stairs and lugging a corded vacuum up and down the stairs is an absolute nightmare. My absolute favorite feature on the Outsize is the Auto feature that can sense if you’re vacuuming on carpet or hard floors, or if you have a particularly dirty spot on the floor. The suction power adjust accordingly, and I don’t have to do anything put keep pushing it. The price is high on this vacuum but think about what you get with it. It has a ton of accessories, which is it just me or is that becoming a rarity these days with vacuums? It has a wall mount, and it comes with two batteries. That’s huge by itself since yes, cordless vacuums do sometimes run out of power at the worst times. This way I can finish my chores by just switching the batteries out and keep doing my thing. Dyson knocked it out of the park, nothing bad to say. And I’m not ashamed to say that I’m in love with my vacuum cleaner.

After 2 months the wheels fell off and the screw holes were stripped so you couldnt screw them back on. Honestly, I have never seen a screw this small used on wheels. What a design flaw. If they fix this the product will be a 5 star product.

Invested in the Gen5Outsize less than a year ago. As others mention, wheels break off of the motorhead. Replacing that piece seems impossible. And worse, a new motorhead is not in stock on Dyson website and if it was in stock, is it worth buying it knowing the wheels likely will break again. Debating Dyson future purchases. It is a heck of a cordless vac when it works.

I liked the vacuum, but wish it had more maneuverability, a bigger hard floor optic head and a better way to empty the canister because it goes everywhere.

Battery life maybe between 10-15 min , boost mode shut of as soon as as i put it on rug and this is not long hair one hair is short . So disappointed returned it after first use . 800 bux for this ? No wonder they give you 2 batteries cause one battery per room worth of cleaning shame shame shame

This is the biggest piece of plastic junk I’ve ever over paid for. This thing broke in less than a year. The fluffy roller broke, the canister broke and Dyson has no replacement parts in stock.

The bar stopped spinning after the second use and I’ve contacted Dyson 4 times and spent hours on hold and still have yet to receive replacement. Everything is out of stock and no one will connect to supervisor. Most expensive vacuum and I can’t even use it.

Great on paper. Poor quality. The vacuum cleaner's brush has already broken twice in exactly the same place, and the wheel screw breaks cleanly in the brush. This seems to be a design problem.

The battery is not that good, it went down to fast… is too heavy as well.. not recommend

This was a game changer for my floors with a TON of pet hair. My main level is all hardwood with one large area rug and is around 1700sq foot. I have a V6 and V8 as well. Pros: Battery- I can do my main level on Auto with one battery. It is also really easy to swap out. It takes around 3 hours to get a full charge. The two batteries and being able to change without tools is a definite upgrade for Dyson. Cleaning- WOW, I had no idea there was so much pet hair on the floor all the time. The Auto setting picks up pretty much every bit of it and the light is incredible. Hardwood- amazed, it's seriously awesome. Carpet- also amazing. It really gets deep down fine dirt. Canister- super easy to dump Cons: Price- it really is too expensive, but I was so done with the pet hair and the battery issues on my previous Dyson sticks. Weight- it is very heavy. I can do one level fine, but it's just cumbersome to sit down anywhere and if you struggle with a heavy vacuum, this one is very top heavy and awkward. It wouldn't keep me from buying it though. Canister- I wish the canister would have been smaller actually. I never even get it half full with very dirty floors. The size makes it really hard to get in to tight places or under things. It's seriously huge! I think if you had all carpet, you might fill it faster. Boost Setting- this uses your batter fast! Like 14-15 mins. But, as said above, Auto has worked perfect for me. Overall, I'm really happy with it. To be able to see what I had no idea was there is awesome. It was worth the extra money to me for the extra battery and to be able to change it so easily. I do wish it were lighter and the canister smaller, but I would recommend it for sure.

Non- Stop amazement in what could go wrong next. Unbelievably BAD as of late. Endless problems with receiving merchandise that isn't damaged, defective, pre-opened, wrong etc etc.

The Dysin Gen5 Outsize is the latest and greatest entry from Dysin into the world of cordless stick vacuums. With Dyson having legendary suction, the Gen5 Outsize is no exception. The vacuum comes packaged well with a large amount of card board separating all of the components. Once put together, I completely charged not 1, but 2 batteries! That's right, the Gen5 Outsize comes with 2 batteries and 2 chargers! The Gen5 Outsize also comes with two different detachable brush rollers. One of them is for hard floors. That is my favorite feature of the vacuum, the hard floor roller. It has a green light on it the illuminates the floors so you can see all the dirt. You'll be shocked at how dirty your floors actually are! The carpet brush roller was, in my opinion, not the best part of this Dyson. We have pretty thick carpet and the Gen5 Outsize bogged down while trying to vacuum it. We even adjusted it on the brush roller and, at best, it was difficult to push across the carpet and it sounded like the brush roller was struggling. The Dyson has a digital display that constantly displays particle measurements as you are vacuuming. It also lets you adjust the power setting and it will show you the estimated battery life. I alsoblike the autobsuction power setting. As you vacuum, the Dyson will automatically increase or decrease the suction power based on the amount of dirt it detects. The Gen5 Outsize also has a realy cool built in wand/brush the slides out from around the dust collection bin. All in all, it is a decent vacuum. I just wish it did a better job on thick carpet.

So far, this Dyson product works as advertised. The Outsize bin is a little on heavy side. Even with the discount, it seems like an excessive amount to pay for a portable vacuum. I purchased this item largely because I have a dog who won't stop shedding at home or in the car. The outsize bin comes in handy as well as the suction power.

I love the Dyson. It picks up beautiful. The led light makes where you can see dirt that is on the floor much easier and it picks up great on the carpet as well. The two batteries will clean my whole house. The only thing is I think the battery is a little heavy. I’m really glad i purchased it.

The best vacuum ever! The light is priceless, shows such much dog or cat hair, worth every penny.

Best vaccuum known to us humans. Picks up dust and pet hair easily, and also comes with an array of attachments.

Spent evening reading reviews of Dyson cordless stick vacuums and I must say it appears that the quality doesn't appear to be worth investing retiree money on a product that may work or not work for weeks or months. Battery life, parts breaking, product not turning on. Wow.

We have a single story home with hardwood floors and a golden retriever, we loved our vacuum at first when we purchased it Dec 2021, until it broke. One of the vacuum head wheel axles broke inside the housing and unable to fix. This happened in June 2024 and we called customer service which, by the way, always takes at least an hour of your time every time you call, and were told we were beyond the two year warranty and we could buy a new head. This was frustrating but understood however the part was out of inventory and we would be contacted when it was back in stock in 2 months. This seemed a bit long for a part to be out of inventory but we waited. We were never notified and I called in August, same one hour experience, to be told it is still out of stock. I called in September then October with the same experience and the same answer. I finally lost patience and called in November and the same experience, waited for over an hour after requesting to speak with a supervisor. They are unable to call customers so you have to wait on hold for a supervisor. Collectively between my wife and I, we've spent hours on the phone with customer service and the issue was never resolved as the last time I waited for over 90 minutes and they never found a supervisor. I couldn't wait any longer. It appears the only resolution is to buy a new vacuum which is greatly disappointing. As much as I love this product, Dyson customer service experience is awful and they do not stand behind the quality of their products. I recommend buying a shark vacuum as they're cheaper but have decent performance and if it breaks, it's cheaper to replace versus the expensive Dyson...and you'll save hours of your time and aggravation.
