Posted .Hi Noah, this is Kelly with Dyson. Thank you for your review. I'm happy to hear how much you're loving your Dyson HP01 Pure Hot + Cool thus far in your use. The Dyson Pure Hot + Cool purifier fan has the ability to detect particulates larger than one micron in the air using two new sensors. Particles are tiny fragments such as pollen and smoke that are lightweight enough to be airborne and are therefore easy to inhale. The Dyson Pure Hot + Cool purifier fan captures these by trapping them in the glass borosilicate fibers of its HEPA filter. VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) are gaseous chemical compounds, both human-made and naturally occurring, including fumes and toxins. These are neutralized when they react with the layer of activated carbon on the inside of the filter.

A regular fan cools the room as well, if not better than this one. Very disappointing because I really wanted to like it. I returned it and bought a $30 floor fan that’s working perfectly.

With regard to using the machine in fan/cool mode, our Purifiers & fans do not have Freon, so they are not an air conditioner, but it does work better than standard fans. Dyson fans use Air Multiplier technology to create a powerful stream of uninterrupted airflow. Air is accelerated through an annular aperture, creating a high-velocity jet of air. This passes over an air foil-shaped ramp, channeling its direction and creating areas of low pressure behind and around the fan. The change in pressure forces surrounding air to be drawn into the airflow, resulting in a powerful stream of smooth cooling air.
