Better products for cheaper

Thank you for your review. This is Miella from Dyson. We're happy to hear you've enjoyed the heater side of the Dyson HP01 Pure Hot+Cool purifier machine. The HP01 was designed with self-regulating ceramic plates that hear the air, providing cleaner, heater air for the room.
We're sorry to hear of your experience with the cooling fan side of the HP01. Unlike an air conditioning unit, that refrigerates the air being blown out, The HP01 Pure Hot+Cool cools you by moving the air (cleaner!) over and around you with the Dyson Air Multiplier technology.
The HP01 Pure Hot+Cool utilizes an infrared remote, and depending on the environment, we do recommend pointing the remote towards the sensor at the bottom of the machine to ensure it catches the command.

You'll be glad to know that if ever accidentally knocked over, your heater fan is designed to turn itself off, as a built-in safety feature. While in heat mode, you can adjust the temperature up to 99 degrees Fahrenheit, as well as adjust your fan speed from levels 1-10. Great purifier, not so great heater

We can not get the heat function to engage for more than about 10 seconds before we get an error code and it switches to cool air. We will be returning it.

Does not perform to my expectations

BTW, i closed all side doors so as to narrow down the square footage of the room.

I can confirm if using in heat mode, you will need to set the temperature of the unit above the target temperature of the room. For example if the room is currently 72 degrees and your machine is set to 70, it will not blow heated air, until the room temperature drops below the set target. While we don't ever expect any problems to occur with your Hot + Cool, Dyson does back your new machine from an authorized retailer with a free 2-year guarantee. Your machine does offer 10 airflow speeds, and in heat mode, the ability to set your desired temperature up to 99 degrees. With regard to cooling, our Purifiers & fans do not have Freon, so they are not an air conditioner, but it does work better than standard fans. Dyson fans use Air Multiplier technology to create a powerful stream of uninterrupted airflow. Air is accelerated through an annular aperture, creating a high-velocity jet of air. This passes over an air foil-shaped ramp, channeling its direction and creating areas of low pressure behind and around the fan. The change in pressure forces surrounding air to be drawn into the airflow, resulting in a powerful stream of smooth cooling air.

But customer service was extremely nice and offered to send me a new one out right away. So sure that I will re rate this item as a five when I get one that actually works. Dyson is a great product and this is the first time I’ve EVER had any difficulties with any dyson products.

The cooling ability regardless whether on direct or spread just isn’t there. It seems that they tried to offer too many features on this fan, as it can’t even blow anything out of its own way.

Worth it for allergies

I have really bad allergies, and within 2 days of running this in my (small) apartment, I wasn't sneezing or waking up with a stuffed up nose. The cooling is not as effective as the heating, i would say it's only about as powerful as a regular blad fan, but with the air purifying feature, it's 100% worth every penny.

No Heat

More like room temp, slightly and I mean SLIGHTLY luke warm air. I have a 25 dollar Walmart floor heater that outperforms a 500 dollar machine. If this is my mistake somehow I will update this review but so far this has been a terrible purchase.

Your machine will feature adjustable airflow settings ranging from 1-10, and an oscillation range of 180 degrees, which helps project purified air around the whole room. We wouldn't expect there to be a lack of airflow, nor lack of heat. You are able to adjust the target room temperature up to 99 degrees, and in heat mode the unit will blow warmed air until the target temperature is reached.
