This is our second Dyson, our first one is over 5 years old and still going strong but we needed a second one for downstairs.

I’ve been using this Dyson for about two months and I’m pretty disappointed with the design. The biggest issue is the debris canister. If there is any hair inside (which is pretty normal in a household), the dirt does not dump out properly. I often have to remove the entire canister and clean it by hand after I vacuum. On top of that, it frequently shows a blockage error, so I end up taking the vacuum apart and washing multiple pieces one by one. In just two months, I’ve had to clean the filter at least 10 times. I rarely vacuum for more than 10 minutes, yet I still have to clean the whole vacuum almost every time I use it. It does keep the floors clean and it is lightweight, which is nice for quick, light cleaning. That part works fine. However, the maintenance is excessive. We had another Dyson before this one and I am pretty sure my wife never cleaned it once in four years, and it still worked. With this model, it feels like I spend as much time cleaning the vacuum as I do cleaning the floors.
