Customers enjoy the Omni Glide Cordless Vacuum's lightweight design and ease of use on various floor types, particularly hardwood. Many appreciate its surprisingly good suction power and convenient cordless operation, making cleaning easier and more efficient. This Is The Vacuum To Buy For Hard Floors!!

I've had several days in which to test out this vacuum. I am a proud pet parent of two dogs who shed...a lot. Since I have hard floors all throughout the house, I was excited about a vacuum that was designed specifically for hard floors. The vacuum came very well packaged, which is one of the more prevalent ways in which I judge a product's quality. You can be assured that my first impression of the Dyson vacuum was extremely positive. Because of its light weight, (very light weight) I almost missed a part or two that were "hidden" in the packing. So be aware of this so that you don't accidentally throw anything away. The light weight of the unit almost lends an air of "cheapness" to the vacuum. There is so little substance to it, but when it is all said and done this characteristic is quite deceiving. Assembly of the vacuum was super easy...just a few clicks-together and its done. The battery comes already charged, so after I got it assembled, I was able to begin vacuuming immediately. I was super impressed by the suction value. It has two settings, so if you need a little extra power, it is there. It picked up everything off the floor, including all the typical debris dogs tend to track in. The vacuum is SUPER maneuverable...and I do mean SUPER. With a small twist of the wrist, you can get it to go wherever you want. Now, it won't go under sofas or loveseats, but it does go under most everything else, including the beds. Because of its maneuverability, you can easily move around table legs and the like. As I said, the suction power is very good. As I used it along the walls, I noticed it picked up everything, even against the baseboards. Wow! Nice!! The battery lasted enough for me to do my whole house, and this was out of the box. Subsequent vacuumings were the same, with no shortage of power. Now you may be wondering why I rated this with four stars. There are a couple of really troublesome aspects of this vacuum that, to me, are a bit annoying. First, it will not stand on its own. If you walk away from it without leaning it up against a chair or something, it will fall over. Now, either I happened to get a faulty vacuum, or this is a blaring design flaw. I'm not sure which. The second reason is that the dirt container is super small. I had to stop and empty it four times. This wouldn't be quite so bad, but having to find a place to lean the vacuum up against exacerbated the issue. The third reason is the charging system. I'm sure it seemed like a good idea, but I am loathe to put screws into my walls, and the room where I wanted to store it when not in use has textured walls that make using the double sided tape impossible. I really feel as though more thought should have gone into this feature. So this is why I rated it four stars. But don't misunderstand, I highly recommend this vacuum to anyone looking for an all-around excellent and very innovative hard floor vacuum. This is the one to get.

Great Stick Vacuum for Hard Floors Only

The Dyson Omni-glide is a lightweight battery powered stick vacuum designed for hardwood floors. The cleaning head has two rotating brushes that sweep up everything on the floor with a swivel design that truly lets you manuover it in all directions. Opening the box, it is sleep with the same familiar design that belongs to Dyson's series of vacuums. Assembly is pretty easy though the connection parts won't be compatible with some older vacuums. The charging base is designed for wall mount and it even includes a pencil for you to mark holes to drill for drywall anchors - though I used the command strip like double sided tape for mounting at a height that has the vacuum partially supported by the floor, though really this is light enough that the tape could probably hand it on its own. The vacuum is simple to use. One button turns it on. There's a button to to boost suction. Hitting the power button a second time turns it off. Charging status is indicated by a blue LED on the handle. The vacuum works well, picking up everything (that would fit) on my floor. Due to the size, you will be a bit more limited on the items that get picked up. The size also limits in another way - this vacuum will be a bit more difficult for taller people to use long term as you'd be bent over a lot. This is somewhat mitigated by the battery life - I got around 10-12 minutes runtime on a full charge. That seems low, but honestly this works so well that unless you're attempting to clean a large area for the first time, that's not really needed. There aren't other attachments, so this doesn't quickly turn into a vacuum you'd use to clean your car which honestly this is nearly the perfect size for it. So many other dustbuster types and even Dyson's other vacuums are large enough that with a fixed shape wand, you have a hard time reaching some crevices in a car. The size of this is small enough to bypass those issues while having the suction one expects from a Dyson. This kind of usage would also be a case where longer battery runtime could be nice. While I wavered between four and five stars, I'll give this the five. It is a one purpose vacuum and does that well in a sleek package that while makes some compromises, works out well over the period in which it is used. Adding more (extendable handle, handheld wand) could help make that a solid five, but could also provide avenues for this to disappoint turning it into a solid four. In that regard, I can see why Dyson decided to stick with what's seems to be nearly the best stick vacuum out there.

The vacuum head is pretty small so more passes will be needed to clean your floor, that is the only real negative as well as the dust container size. 4 to maybe 4.5 stars. The charging time is 3.5 hours or less to get full charge of about 20 minutes, so very limited time to clean a large living room all wood floor. But surprisingly I was able to clean and had at least 10 minutes left. The head is well set up to avoid damaging your wood floors but still does fantastic job removing dust and fine particles with ease. The charging base is walled mounted but takes some time to mount properly with attached mounting supplies. The unit hangs on the charger but not off the floor which would have been a nicer setup but no really crime in resting on the floor. The unit is super light weight and superb maneuverability and easily gets into nooks and under your furniture. The unit does as advertised and only meant to clean wood floors not rugs or carpets so if you have multiple floor coverings in your room you will need o this Omni glide for floor and another vacuum to clean rugs and carpets so can be troublesome to go back and forth. This unit shines on a room with all wood floor and best used in those rooms or in rooms with multiple surfaces to do quick cleanups of the floor.

Was a decent little vaccum, a little limited in capabilities compared to other Dyson hand held units. Last 2 years and 4 months and stopped charging. For this kinda money it should have longer than a 2 year warranty like they used to. This was our 5th Dyson, after using the Tineco not sure we will be going back.

Easy to assemble and use. How can it be that it is horrid in picking up cat fur and bits on the floor? Seriously. I thought Dyson's were powerful. This is a sad little cleaner that I paid way too much for.
