Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the impressive suction power and long battery life of the V11 Origin Cord-Free Stick Vacuum. Many appreciate its ease of use and lightweight design, making cleaning convenient. However, some find the price to be a significant drawback, and the dustbin capacity may require more frequent emptying than desired. The cordless functionality is also a frequently praised feature.

My first thought upon opening the box was that it was a bit heavy for me. I would not be able to use it for any length of time but it would be okay if I just did one room at a time. As I wanted to put it through its paces, I called on my daughter to try it (easy way to get her to do the vacuuming). She had no problems with the weight. We tried this on wood, tile and linoleum flooring as well as 2 different types of rugs. It worked great on all of them. The boost feature even got out some ground in dirt/salt/sand from the carpet near the front door. Emptying it was a breeze, just press a button and the container comes out and you can just dump it. The cordless feature makes it easy to go everywhere without having to constantly stop and find another outlet. This certainly lives up to Dyson's reputation.

Good vacuum. Noisy though powerful. Not sure yet it is worth paying the extra $ to get a V11 compared to earlier Dyson models.

I've had other Dyson cordless vacs before, and, like the others this one works very well; very powerful, long battery life, and easy to operate. two minor gripes though. - the trigger that turns it on and off is super sensitive, and even the slightest tough on it engages it; plus, you have to hold it in the entire time you are using it, which, can hurt your finger if you have arthritis. -the mounting bracket on this and on my previous Dyson stick vacuum cause a large hole in the wall, and even the included wall anchor didn't help at all...larger/beefier anchors and screws are needed. But, the reason you buy a unit like this is for its cleaning power, capacity, and battery life, and on those 3 things, this is a great unit!

An ok purchase; however, I think I would have gotten the same results from a cheaper brand too. I honestly don’t see the value in purchasing the Dyson. Definitely not overly impressed with the suction.

What’s great about this is it’s a stick vacuum so it stores easily but it’s quite powerful. As an owner of an older model Dyson vacuum, I like, with this model, that I can go from my area rugs to my hardwood & tile floors without worrying about scratching the floor. I have a thick area rug in my living room & when it senses that it automatically increases the power, when I move to the floor it automatically decreases. Usually I had to flip a switch, when I remembered. I thought my rug was clean but it cleaned even deeper & pulled out more dirt. I have vinyl flooring in my kitchen & it picked up everything there too. I used it on my tile bathroom floor & very little specks of dirt & hair were picked up. It cleaned everything very well & there’s always hair on our bathroom floor! I was quite impressed. The canister is larger too so it holds more before you need to empty it. This snapped together easily in 3 pieces & comes apart just as easy for adding included attachments or using as a hand held. Attachments & power cord are universal, I used my old cord for charging. I haven’t used it long enough to comment on how long charge lasts but it depends on which mode you use. Boost is for heavy duty pickup & has least use time. Eco has the most but doesn’t automatically switch when it senses the floor vs rug. Auto is what I prefer since it’s the speed that does sense the change. Charging time took a few hours right out of the box. I like that the charge modes are lit up & displayed on the top of the canister. I find this vacuum a bit top heavy but it’s still lightweight, I’m a small person though. Aside from the weight issue I can’t find anything else wrong with it, I love it & recommend it!

Wow, this thing is unique. It has a thrummm sound when you let go of the trigger. It comes with the attachments to make this a floor cleaning dynamo. And attachments for cleaning crevices and vents, etc. I'm not sure how it does it, but the Auto mode changes how it works depending on which surface it is being used on when used with the high torque cleaner head (the wide floor attachment). It has auto cut off for blockages and a separate blockage and filter warning lights on the display above the battery indicator. The battery takes about 4 hours to charge and my first extensive testing use lasted about an hour. That was mostly hardwood floors and wide carpeted stairs using the wide floor attachment, then vents and stairs corners using the crevice and brush attachments. The battery is detachable if you want to buy a spare for very lengthy continuous cleaning sessions. For reference its labelled as 25.2 VDC, 3600 mAh, 91 Wh. The suction on this is very very good for a handheld cordless vacuum. Even on eco mode, it is pretty useful for light pickup. Pet hair picked up great, and there is extensive instructions for care and cleaning of the filter, wide floor attachment, and dust bin. The filter cleaning procedure does ask for 24 hour drying time, preferably with some of that in the bask of sunlight or some warmth to ensure complete dryness internally before reassembly and use. You can order replacement or spare parts and batteries from the manufacturers website. I really like this vacuum and with this having a replaceable battery, I can see this in my vacuuming arsenal for quite a long time.

Phenomenal Stick Vac for all floors

This is my third Dyson vacuum cleaner (they are all in use and spread out around the house). The suction on this one combined with the automatic multi-floor head functionality is superb for picking up loose ends of yarn, dirt and dust, shedding hair and other debris that finds its way to the floor. It is now my favorite vacuum as it is even better than my V10 power wise and especially when I go from one type of flooring to another. It has enough run time that I do not run out of power (it varies power usage automatically based on floor type). The V11 comes with a nice selection of tools to handle non floor related or edge of room and corner tasks. The wall mountable storage and charging station is handy. You can store the other tools on the main tube (it has a holder that clips in place) or on the charging station. The V11 weighs slightly more than the V10 probably due to making more power available. Awesome machine! - and it looks cool!!

Really hard to push on carpet

I just got the v11 origin and it works okay on hardwood floor. However on carpet, it is very harsh on the shoulders and too hard to push. I wonder if it is by design. On the other hand, the tineco s12 was so easy to push. I really liked the hygienic bin empty feature but if it's this hard to push what is the use?

Hello Namo, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to learn that thus far in your use, you have found the V11 Origin Cord-Free hard to push on your carpeting. The Dyson V10 and V11 torque drive cleaner head includes a suction control lever in the cleaner head (torque drive only). On top of the ability to control suction in the cleaner head, you also have the options to switch between suction modes with any of the cordless machines.  The machines with the ability to control suction at the cleaner head or ability to adjust suction (e.g., cordless) are great for those with thicker/higher pile carpets.

While we never expect issues to occur, Dyson does back your new machine from an authorized retailer with a free 2-year guarantee.  We would value the opportunity to assist you, to help ensure your Dyson is working properly. Please feel free to contact us directly at [email protected]. We are keen on providing you with support and learning more about your experience.

      Best wishes,
      Kelly

This vacuum is powerful! Very lightweight and easy to handle. Vacuums blinds, and under furniture very thoroughly. It has three settings Boost, Auto and Eco. I own a dog, so I use the Boost setting at all times. It comes with two attachments for the vacuum. 4 stars because it should come with an extra battery, but doesn't. From empty battery to full takes about an hour to charge. Highly recommend!

When I hear the name Dyson, my expectations shoot through the roof. Yet somehow the V11 has exceeded my lofty expectations. I no longer need a floor vacuum for any part of my house. With the auto floor type sensor, long battery life, a larger canister, and strong suction, I can finally vacuum my whole house with just this cordless machine. The machine has a beautiful LCD display that gives you an accurate time of the battery life depending upon the three power modes you can choose from (Eco, Auto, and Boost). The display also informs you when the machine needs attention and provides instructions for what to do! I'm in love with this vacuum!

Impressive Vacuum w/ One Major Flaw

Dyson has a certain track record when it comes to delivering vacuums that work really well with very little loss of suction, and this model is absolutely no different. It delivers what is essentially plugged in suction without the hassle of the power cord, and with a battery that lasts quite a while, and is also removable/swappable to boot (though only one comes in the box, you could buy a second to double your battery life). It's also very versatile. You can use it with the full length setup as a regular vacuum, or you can remove the shaft portion, attach the the based directly to the handle, and make easy work of stairs or upholstery. With the included attachments, this vacuum is a truly versatile and well performing machine. One additional plus is the brush head design. Though I haven't had to clean mine yet, the brushes are quite open and I expect them to be easy to free of hair/debris. This would be essentially the perfect vacuum except for one major design flaw. To use the vacuum, you need to hold the power trigger down. While the design here is very ergonomic, as far as I can tell there is absolutely no reason for them to not include an on/off switch like all other vacuums. What this means is that it's difficult to use this vacuum for extended periods of time without hand fatigue. Finally, the color scheme is subjectively a poor choice. The hot pink stick is gaudy looking, but at the end of the day, looks don't really concern me personally. In the end, I'll still use the Dyson a lot, given it's great performance. It's unfortunate that I'll have to live with their poor power trigger design, but the overall convenience has won me over.

Hello there, this is Kelly with Dyson. We were happy to read your review, and to learn how pleased you have been, thus far, with the suction power of your Dyson V11 Origin Cord-Free. We are also glad to hear how you've appreciated the functionality of being able to use this machine as a full-size vacuum, or with the wand and floor tool removed to be used as a handheld.

We know that battery run time is a very important aspect of performance for our owners, so we developed a trigger that helps maximize the amount of time you can clean on one charge. We chose a light-touch trigger over an on/off switch to ensure that battery life is never wasted by letting the machine run when it's not in active use. This also helps to ensure that when moving around larger objects like furniture, you're not wasting power.

Dyson takes feedback from our owners seriously as we understand that the comments we receive from our customers help us continue to move forward and create technology that makes sense. When designing our technology we are conscious to make sure that our products interact most efficiently for and with our customers. We would value the opportunity to assist you, to help ensure your Dyson is working properly. Please feel free to contact us directly at [email protected]. Blockage Light Keeps On without actual blockage

The blockage light keeps on after two minutes on the first trial right out of the box. I removed the parts and check the machine as dyson website instructed, I didn’t see anything blocking since it was just on for about two minutes for testing. The blockage light wouldn’t turn off and the machine couldn’t start again due to “blockage”. This expensive machine is giving me headaches. A hundred dollar machine would function better than that.

I had a cordless vacuum before and it was pretty good but this one is really top notch. Extremely powerful. I love how it automatically switches power modes when going from my carpets to the hardwood floors. I have 2 cats and this vacuumed up enough hair to produce 2 more cats. I had no idea there was this much hair on my floors. This instantly turns into a portable vacuum too so I can go out and clean up my car. I live on Cape Cod and spend time at the beach and in the woods and it cleaned my interior as good as the power vacs at the car wash. So handy With the attachments, I can get the corners of the ceiling, the vents, under the couch without moving it out of the way, and it will suck all the cat hair off the back of the couch where the cats sleep. Comes with a nice wall mount so it hangs up and charges at the same time. Just pull it off whenever you want to use it and it's always fully charged. Great idea. Very happy with the decision to get this and will be using it for years to come. Only con and I'm probably nitpicking but it doesn't leave those streaks that show a freshly vacuumed carpet. I've always like those but it just doesn't weigh enough to make that happen. Oh well, rather have it super clean than just look clean. Great job Dyson!!

I have used the older model and thought it was amazing. This one really blows my mind. The auto setting goes between wood and carpet flooring. I did both the upstairs and the downstairs on one full charge and still had about 1/2 the charge left. The power was amazing even more than before and the apparatus to dump the canister still works the same as the previous models which was very easy. Love the color and the umph that comes with this vacuum.
