Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the impressive suction power and long battery life of the V11 Origin Cord-Free Stick Vacuum. Many appreciate its ease of use and lightweight design, making cleaning convenient. However, some find the price to be a significant drawback, and the dustbin capacity may require more frequent emptying than desired. The cordless functionality is also a frequently praised feature.

It would get hot, loud, & wouldn’t suck that good. If this was 50-100 bucks vacuum then it would be okay for its technology but I had to return it because it didn’t work as well. Went with a shark instead. I didn’t want to pay more for the upgraded version of this. I already had paid over 500+

Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to read your review, and learn of your unusual experience that you had with the Dyson V11 Origin. We wouldn't expect the machine to be overly noisy during use; if the machine was getting warm during use, it was likely being used in the highest MAX power setting, which provides a boost of suction power. This also causes the motor and battery to work harder, so noticing warmth from the machine would be common. While I understand you've since returned your purchase, we'd value the opportunity to learn more regarding your experience, as we're dedicated to customer satisfaction. Please consider emailing us directly at [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you.

I was looking for a cordless lightweight vacuum, so I was excited to try it out. This particular vacuum came with a direct drive cleaner head, mini motorized tool (ideal for cars & stairs), crevice tool, combination tool, quick release mini soft dusting brush, wand storage clip, docking station and charger. I pleased with the assortment of attachments to tackle the multiple cleaning needs in my home. Packaging was great, instructions and illustrations on the box gave a quick glance at all the capabilities of the vacuum. The user manual has great illustrations and step by step easy assembly and explanation of how to clean the filter, clean & empty the canister and how to trouble shoot issues or blockages. There is a 2 year warranty available if you register your product. I found it particularly helpful that they have customer service available 7 days a week. I used the vacuum on my bedroom carpet, living room area rug, tile floors and my stairs. I thought it was neat that the vacuum automatically adjusts to the type of surface you are vacuuming. While on the carpet you could hear the vacuum adjusts its motor and suction strength, it would do the same as I switched to the tile floors. This helps maximize the battery life. That improves and caters to my cleaning habits in the environment of my home. I did notice while vacuuming on my bedroom carpet which is thicker I felt more resistance pushing and pulling the Dyson, that was frustrating. Afterwards I realized I could adjust the gate in the front of the direct drive cleaner head to open up the air flow & decrease the tightness of the suction. I like the LED screen that clearly states what mode you are in. The three modes are auto mode, which is recommended, this is the mode that adjusts power between surfaces. The ECO mode gives you maximum run time for longer cleans. The boost mode is for intensive cleaning for ground-in dirt. The run time varies on the power mode you are in. While using it I found it easy to fit under tables and under my bed. It was the perfect size for my stairs and easy to do all the stairs because of its light weight. The wand storage clip allows you to store two of the attachments on the actual wand which was convenient as I had to switch out the attachment to get in between the railings of the stair rail. It has a very quick & easy release lever to empty the waste from the canister. You don’t even get your hands dirty! It is also easy to remove and clean the rollers to clean out hair. I like how the wall mount works together with the charger so you can store the vacuum and charge the battery at the same time. Things I didn’t like include that this particular device doesn’t have a second battery since it takes around 4.5-5 hours to fully charge the battery. I was also disappointed it didn’t come with soft roller cleaner head, as I’ve heard this is a great tool for hard floors. Other than that I would definitely recommend this vacuum to family and friends. Overall, I am very satisfied with it and look forwards to using it in my home.

Over hyped vacuum cleaner. Definitely not worth the price. This v11 feels the same and preform just as any other vacuum cleaner. For the tough work, a 40$ shopvac woud do a way better job

Dyson is a company not known for making radical changes in the design of its products. The company puts a lot of effort into producing elegant functional products. So as new models emerge, it is usually all about refinement and nuance. So it's no surprise that Dyson's new V11 Origin cordless vac reflects that approach. At first glance, it may not look much different from the models that came before it. A big stylized motor housing with clear dirt chamber, A long extension tube painted in Dyson's trademark hot rod colors (a reddish purple in this case) which attaches to a well-designed powerhead. Just pull the trigger to make it go. But look more closely and you will see there are quite a few improvements. The dirt chamber is much larger than some earlier models so you empty less, a big plus. The motor is a new, and noticeably more powerful version that includes a slick new baclklit control panel to show motor speed, charging status and alert you to problems with the filter and clogging. And most notable of all, this Dyson has a new brain that tells the motor to automatically change speeds on the fly to deal with different conditions. Some earlier models relied on a manual three-speed slide switch. The Origin has three settings too but one of them is the new AUTO mode, which allows the motor decide how fast it should run based on what's going on a floor level. The other two, for those who prefer the manual approach, is the slowest ECO setting for best battery life or the full time fast mode, BOOST, for really tough jobs. Changing speeds is done a single push button instead of a slide switch. Speaking of the motor, the company says this vac has the most powerful one it makes, and I believe it. I have a couple of cats that shed more cat hair than one would think possible. The new "Dyson Hyperdymium," which runs up to 125,000 RPM, did a great job of getting that off bare floors and carpets. And made short work of scattered kitty litter and kibbles, which means it sucked them up instead of scattering them around. Perhaps most amazing of all, it is a bit quieter than before. Which is not to say it is perfect, As before, this Dyson works best, or is at least easier to use, on hard floors of all types. Easy to push. Great suction. Perfect. Carpet with anything beyond a very low pile, requires MUCH more effort since the motor powers up (on AUTO at least) increasing the drag considerably. Yes, it still cleans well, much better than you might expect for a cordless vac. But it it is a lot more work . Those who are not up for that kind of workout would be well advised to opt for the slower ECO mode, which makes for an easier push -- while perhaps not cleaning quite as well. Dust? Not with the Origin. Dyson's excellent filtration system means vac day is a mostly dust-free affair. You can keep it that way by making sure the single reusable filter gets a regular cleaning under running water. If you forget, the control panel will remind you. All in all, it's a pretty versatile vac. In addition to normal chores, you can switch up the configuration to clean stairs, furniture or car interiors. Just remove the extension tube and attach the powerhead directly to the motor. Or remove that and plug in the (included ) unpowered crevice tool or spot brush. The attachments are designed to attach to the included wall mount, which doubles as a charging dock for the vac. Dyson even gives you the screws and anchors to mount it. Or if you prefer, you can keep the charger separate and manually plug in the vac when the time comes for charging. That takes about 3 hours if the batteries are very low. Run time is advertised as 60 minutes but that is in ECO mode. Expect less using AUTO or BOOST power settings. Overall cleaning performance is about as good as it gets for a cordless vac. Dyson's claims it has the power of a corded vac and I would be hard pressed to dispute that. It certainly has more power than previous generation models. But I still have to admit that if you have a house full of wall to wall carpet, a corded vac is much less work since they are all designed to glide easily over carpet. If you have the money, this one is a winner. Four stars. It would have been five but for the extra effort required to vac carpets.
