Customers highly value the V15 Detect Cordless Vacuum's powerful suction, long battery life, and ease of use. Many appreciate the laser-assisted cleaning and lightweight design, while some find the price to be a significant drawback. Other minor concerns include the need to continuously hold the trigger and the relatively small dustbin capacity.

It is an expensive vacuum we got a discount on because of a Black Friday sale. We've been using it for a few weeks now, and it's still performing well. Strong suction, and easier to move around than our old corded vacuum. One thing I was concerned about was the 'smaller' container size, but it doesn't seem to be an issue as long as you make emptying the vacuum part of your routine.
The emptying mechanism is a little weird until you get used to it. When you release the container, it doesn't come out all the way, it just kind of pushes debris out. I still find that I make a bit of a mess by the trash (which I ironically vacuum up). But a weird benefit of the smaller container is -- if you suck up something you don't want to, it makes it super easy to find.
Still stupidly expensive, but if it holds up over a few years, I would get another.

Coming from an older model Dyson cordless, this is a huge upgrade. Firstly, the battery life is more than enough to clean all my rugs and my hardwood floors. I have two dogs and one cat that all have a lot of fur, and this machine really gets it all! The fuzzy attachment for hardwood floors is great and the laser detection is so satisfying! Highly recommend if you can stomach the price tag.

Pros
-Very strong suction
-Laser light dust detector
-Long-lasting battery
Cons
-Hand grip ergonomics
-No trigger 'lock'
-Small dustbin space
Dyson has just raised the bar for me when it comes to cordless stick vacuums. The single most important feature of any vacuum, is its suction power, because what's the point if it can't suck up the dirt, debris and hair. Dyson touts this as having the strongest motor of any cordless and it absolutely lives up to the claim.
My house has both hardwood floors and carpet. When on carpet, with the high torque cleaner head attached, it practically glues itself to the carpet with its suction power. It was even more evident by how much and how fast the dust bin was filling up. To put some perspective on it, I used to sell Kirby's long ago, for years nothing could match it in terms of power, until it got replaced by another brand's stick vacuum last year which I felt, at the time, had finally outperformed it. Then I got this Dyson V15 and it blew my mind with how much more it was pulling up out of the carpet. When my wife first used it, before knowing or seeing the results of my first use, came to me ecstatically after just a minute's use showing off the dustbin contents. The one downside to this is that the dustbin doesn't have a huge capacity and had to be emptied out constantly.
As for my hardwood floors, it did a great job too, but you don't exactly need the world's strongest suction power for hard flat surfaces. What really sets this Dyson apart is the fluffy cleaner head with laser. I'll admit, the laser light seemed a bit gimmicky to me at first. Once I started using it though, I instantly fell in love with it. For one, it always feels good to see the before and after when cleaning. Other than large 'tumblefurs' from my dogs, you couldn't really see the difference as much on the floors, other than what filled up in the bin. But now, no more going over spots multiple times trying to remember if you went over it already. No more wondering if the floors really need a vacuuming or not, since you can see it right away!
Then there's the hair tool attachment. This little thing works better than anything I've used before at getting hairs off of furniture. But even more than that, it works exceptionally well at vacuuming the upholstery inside my vehicles, especially the dog hair that gets attached to everything inside my truck. I'm sure the sheer power of the suction is a big part of that too though.
With all these attachments though, you'll need somewhere to store them. The bracket to hang the vacuum on can only hold so many.
Next on the list is the battery, because how strong the motor is doesn't really matter if you can't power it. I'm happy to report that so far, after a week's use, this battery lasts longer than other cordless vacs I've had. I just have a small 1544 s.f. house, but I can easily vacuum every inch of floor surface on one single charge. My previous cordless vac, even when brand new just a year ago, required a second battery to get the whole house done.
One of the reasons that the battery lasts longer is because of the automatic power adjustment based on the dirt level it senses. You'll mostly notice this on hard surfaces as it tends to be in 'eco' mode, but powers up fast when it detects a lot of hair/debris. Of course it allows you to choose your own mode if you want to keep it in eco or boost all the time.
The vac also has a small lcd screen that shows what mode you're in, the battery level, and the different sized particles of dirt/dust it's picked up. This last bit seemed a bit gimmicky to me as well, and while it's cool to see, it's not as useful as the laser head which shows you the dust itself.
Last thing I want to talk about is the ergonomics of this vacuum. Unfortunately, this is where the flaws show up. Weight wise it's not too heavy and lighter than my other stick vacuum so that's good. The handle though is the problem. After a bit of use, the weight of the motor being above my hand kept putting pressure on the knucklebone of my thumb, which after a while, started to get sore. It became much more noticeable after picking it back up later the same day. My wife also had an issue but it was with her trigger finger, but same type of cause. Even when you try to adjust your hand position, the weight of the motor being above just forces it down on your hand.
Speaking of the trigger, it is nice for the fact that you can easily release it and save some battery when you're not actively on the floor vacuuming. And it's very light so just maintaining a normal grip on the handle is enough to keep it pressed in. However, it would have been nice to have some sort of trigger 'lock' to keep it on. I actually had a use case this morning where I needed both hands to do something with the vacuum on, but couldn't because I had no way of actually keeping it on. I had to get my wife to help and hold the trigger in for me. It's a rare situation, but still one to be aware of.
Overall, this is by far the strongest cordless vac I've ever used that rivals the best corded ones. The few negatives are minor in comparison to all the positives and while this isn't a cheap vacuum, it lives up to the Dyson reputation and as the saying goes, you get what you pay for, and with this you get peace of mind that it's actually picking up all the dirt, dust, hair and debris from your floors and carpets.

This thing was pricy and the battery doesn't last super long but man this thing is awesome! I love the modular design. The data on the screen is cool and it's nice to see exactly what it's picking up. But the green laser is an absolute game changer! So worth having. It makes cleaning so much more efficient! I highly recommend this model and feature.

What an improvement over the v6 absolute that served us well for many years. Perfect size for how much it does. The Outsize seemed too bulky for our home. The laser feature is surprisingly very effective which the camera doesn't give justice to.

I do laundry, dishes, you name the chore, I do it happily but I generally dont do vacuuming. That is until now after I got this x15. Its so strong and convenient or shall I say 'fun' to use with that laser on the front showing me all the dirt and dust on my floor. It becomes almost like a video game search and destroy the dust mites! I never ever thought I would say this about a vacuum but I LOVE this thing. And my wifes me for taking over this chore around the house. (If she only knew, hehe)

Dyson Delivers in their Newest Cordless Addition

The Dyson V15 Detect is my second Dyson cordless style vacuum, first one was a hit and the V15 hits it out of the park. In a word, it is awesome. As always Dyson vacuums are stylish while delivering on exceptional cleaning and ease of use.
First impression, the vacuum’s Hyperdymium motor and cannister are noticeably larger than my earlier model while maintaining the same overall length, brilliant engineering and design. The power and performance are amazing in a cord free machine, believe that it hands down outperforms my corded vacuum. According to ASTM F558 (vacuum testing standard) testing of the Hyperdymium motor shows the V15 “delivers the most suction of any cordless vacuum.”
The V15 Detect is well balanced, comfortable, easy to handle, incredibly quiet, and checks all the ergonomic boxes.
Easy setup: unpack and attach the wand and battery to the vacuum, select an head attachment and you are set.
The charging/docking station requires only two screws to mount to a wall for storage, thoughtfully Dyson kept the mounting screws pattern the same as our previous model. Simply installed the new docking station with the same screws into the same holes, appreciate the attention to detail.
LCD Screen:
1. Displays selectable Eco, Auto, or Boost power levels - we use Auto as the machine will adjust power based on amount of debris and battery runtime
2. Battery charge runtime left in minutes and seconds
3. Maintenance notifications
4. Displays “scientific proof of a deep clean.”
The particulate displays shows Allergens, Microscopic Dust, Dust Mites and Sugar readouts that were vacuumed - 36,475,810 Allergens were picked-up a one minute on one test I ran!
Runtime:
1. Medium mode - 45 minutes with Power Head attachment
2. Eco mode – 90 minutes
3. Full charge – four hours
Seven Accessories +
1. Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head - Laser Detect for Hardwood Floors Illuminates hidden dust on hard floors – cool feature
2. High Torque Drive cleaner head - Deep cleans rugs and carpets and designed to prevent hairs being tangled in the brush
3. Dyson Hair Tool – If you have an indoor pet this is an invaluable tool for removing pet hair from furniture and hard to get at spaces
4. Crevice Tool
5. Stubborn dirt brush
6. Soft dusting brush – great for dusting the complete house – Blinds have never been so clean
7. Combination tool
8. Wand Storage Clip – can attach two of the smaller head attachments to the wand – handy
Likes:
1. Converts to hand held
2. Filter traps 99.9 percent of allergen and dust particles – “Expels cleaner air than the air you breath”
3. Trigger locks when battery needs a charge
4. Bin is easy to clean, we eject the debris directly into our trash bags
We have many things in our life that needs cleaning and the Dyson V15 Detect simply answers the call, carpet, hard floor, rugs, blinds, air filters, fans, vehicles.... love to use it to clean the dust on desks, tables, pictures, crafts, bookshelves..... and makes quick work of it in their latest stroke of genius.
You may gather I like the machine, true but the proof is in the pudding, my wife loves the V15 and she is a tougher customer than I.

Vacuum is amazing. Beats lugging out the big clunker that was my Dyson Animal 2 and honestly does a better job even!
My only reason it’s not a 5 star is the battery life is not great. At full suction you’ll get maaayyybbbeee 15 minutes of use. Then have to charge for over an hour.
So mainly have to do the house in eco mode. But still gets it done
