Got this on sale as a Christmas present to myself (I was waiting for it to go on sale).
It works well, has lots of attachments and the canister is easy to dump. Another plus is no bags to replace.
Let's see how durable it is and how long the battery charge and battery life lasts.
It's expensive (even on sale is totaled $511), but if it continues to work well and is durable, I got what I paid for.

Absolutely love this vacuum! The suction is super strong, the battery lasts a long time, and that laser light makes it so satisfying to see (and clean) every bit of dust. Lightweight, easy to handle, and actually makes me enjoy cleaning.

The Dyson V15 Detect is honestly awesome, and it has completely changed how I handle cleaning around the house. I previously owned a Shark Stratos, which was a decent cleaner, but I ran into constant quality issues where the hinges kept breaking. Switching to the Dyson feels like a massive upgrade in build quality and reliability. The suction is incredibly powerful, easily pulling up deep-seated dirt that my old vacuums would have missed.
One of the best parts about the setup is the wall mount. It’s really convenient because it keeps the vacuum tucked away and ensures the battery is always topped off. Having a "fully charged mode" ready to go at any moment means I never have to worry about the battery dying halfway through a room. The variety of different attachments included is also really "noice," as there’s a specific tool for every corner of the house, from the stairs to the upholstery, and they all click into place perfectly.
The biggest surprise for me was the green laser on the hard floor head. I’ll admit I thought it was just a gimmick when I first saw it, but it’s actually an incredible tool for finding dirt. It highlights dust and hair on the floor that you would never see under normal lights, making it weirdly satisfying to watch the floor go from "hidden dirty" to actually clean. Even though it’s a premium vacuum, the performance and the smart features make it worth every penny.

Super impressed with the Dyson V15 Detect. The suction power is amazing, and the green light on the hardwood floor head really shows how much dirt was being missed before. It honestly picks up way more than our old corded vacuum—it’s crazy how dirty the floors actually were. Battery life has been solid, and it easily cleans the whole house. Definitely worth it.

WOW!!! Having only used a corded, canister style vacuum my whole life, this has been such a treat to use. The freedom of simply moving forward without being tied to cords and outlets makes vacuuming a pleasure. I didn't realize what a nuisance it was having to pull the canister along and drag it up the staircases - never mind searching for outlets that allowed me get to the spot I wanted to vacuum!! I was also stunned to see how much power this Dyson has. I like to think I keep a pretty clean home - but the dirt this picks up is amazing. This has made vacuuming "almost" fun!!
(I have to share that I asked for this for a Christmas gift. My husband was reluctant because a vacuum is not a very "romantic", special kind of thing. We have some friends who've given their wives gifts like a membership to the gym and have been teased relentlessly for their choices. I told my husband I wouldn't tell anyone this was a gift from him!). I have to say, this has been an unexpected pleasure to add to my cleaning routine. Wouldn't part with it!!

This rechargeable vacuum actually performs better than our old Dyson Ball drag around vacuum. The bare floor head is fantastic with the special green light that shows dust, hair and small bits in the kitchen. You can literally see that hardwood floors are clean.
The regular rug attachment has a height adjustment that allows a bit of air to be pulled in so that the head is not sucked down onto some carpet surfaces.
Battery run time is fantastic - I'm more than tired and ready for a break anyway if I have been using the vacuum for 30-40 minutes. Using it in Auto mode prolongs battery life and maximizes cleaning power for each situation.
Remember to clean the small filter at the top of the vacuum from time to time as this will eventually be filled with dust and will reduce suction power. The filter can be washed with tap water (long dry time) or I use a shop vac hose to very quickly clean the filter in seconds and put it back to work.
Dumping the dirt etc from this unit is very easily done and works exceptionally well. I don't have to use small tools to get all of the stuff out and that means I stay away from some nasty dirt. If for some reason the dirt basket area has to be cleaned by hand there is a simple button release that allows opening the unit and easily wiping, brushing all material out and then slide back together to return to service.
Weight is good and well balanced. This is not a "light" vacuum but it is easily handled by a 70 year old woman of average build and strength so it is easy to use.
Without question this is the best vacuum we have ever owned and is the best performing. Carefully compare actual vacuum specifications of this unit with lower cost comparable units from other sources - you will see that this is a very capable unit and is not a light weight hand vacuum.

My workplace has the larger version of this vacuum and I found it amazing when my office space needed a quick cleanup. No cord makes for less hassle getting around especially when the nearest outlet restricts your availble space to clean. The multi mode is a nice add-on whenever auto doesn’t quite put enough suction power just switch to high power and the debris has no chance. The real kicker is the laser attachment. I thought my wood floors at home were clean, but I have to say the laser opens a whole other world of dust hiding in plain site. Now I can’t clean without a second pass with the laser attachment and my floors feel even cleaner afterwards.

Best Vacuum I've Used To Date

The Dyson V15 Detect cordless vacuum is the best vacuum I’ve used to date. Traditional upright corded vacuums usually offer more power and performance than cordless vacuums. However, not only can the Dyson V15 Detect compete with any corded vacuum’s power and performance, it has several advantages. It is lightweight and portable. Caring up and down stairs is a breeze. Since it doesn’t have a power cord, there are no worries about range and cable management when you finish vacuuming. The Dyson V15 Detect’s performance is superb on carpets and bare floors. The dirt sensor allows it to increase its suction power automatically. I strongly recommend this vacuum.

I have had this vacuum for a month now. I bought it when it was 40% off. I enjoy it! It's light enough weight, easy to maneuver, and easy to empty. I don't dread vacuuming anymore and because of that, I vacuum a lot more than I used to.
Is it the best vacuum? I'm not sure. This is the first expensive stick vacuum I've owned. But I'm happy with it.
The battery lasts long enough for me in our 2,000 sqft space, however, I use the Automatic setting instead of the Boost setting. I am usually only doing one floor at a time. Also, I'm not super particular about my vacuuming.
If I do vacuum both floors, I probably do vacuum less precisely because I see the battery life decreasing and I want to make sure I get to all the necessary spots in our house.
The Automatic setting is decent but there are times where the suction could be better.
I didn't care about the green light feature when I made the purchase, but it's actually one of my favorite features. It helps me decide if I can skip a corner or if I need to go over a spot again.
The parts are a little flimsy when they are put together. This bothered me more at first. Now I don't think anything of it.
I love the 90° angle attachment, but you do lose some control of the vacuum when it's in use.
It's hard to bring additional attachments with you (even with the attachment peice) because the attachment peice itself is not great. Plus, there is no where to put the stick peice when you take that off.
Lastly, I have noticed lately that there is dust building up within the tubing. Obviously, dust builds up in vacuums. It will just be one (or two or three) additional thing to clean.
I am sure most of these things are common with stick vacuums though.

I’ve used a lot of vacuums before, but the Dyson V15 Detect truly stands out. The suction power is phenomenal—easily picks up everything from fine dust to pet hair in one pass. What really impressed me is the laser dust detection—it actually makes cleaning kind of fun, and I can clearly see what I'm picking up. The LCD screen is also a great touch, showing battery life and particle count in real time. Battery life lasts long enough to clean my whole apartment in one go, and the 10 included accessories make it super versatile for different surfaces and hard-to-reach spots. It’s lightweight, easy to maneuver, and looks sleek too. Definitely worth the investment!

The weight is perfect and easy to move around. It is so much quieter than previous models, my cats don't run away when I turn this on. The light on the head really shows how dirty the floor is, to the naked eye the floor looks clean! it has a timer on it so you know how much battery life is left, I love this feature! It is also super easy to empty. I am completely satisfied with this purchase. A clean house is worth every penny spent for this wonderful machine!

I live this vacuum. I don’t think it is for everyone, but the cordless option is great. I don’t have to maneuver a cord around furniture or unplug it to plug in somewhere else. I do have a corded Dyson ball and I am sure I will use it again. I just haven’t since buying this vacuum. It’s easy for me to empty and auction is really good. Some people may not like the trigger you have to hold but I don’t even notice it. We will have to mount it on the wall since it doesn’t stand but I think I have found the perfect spot for it. I like the attachment I can use on hardwood floors as well…it’s great on the hardwood stairs! I haven’t used the one that is for hair. I hope it works well on our bathroom tile. I also like that the tool to help reach under couches and other furniture came with this V15. It is an additional purchase with the V15 Submarine (I returned that one for other reasons). Also, I would recommend this V15 if it is on sale. Best Buy was running a good one when I made this purchase.

The Dyson V15 Detect Extra Cordless Vacuum is a top-of-the-line cleaning tool with impressive features, making it one of the best vacuums on the market today. Here’s why it’s worth the investment:
Pros:
1. Incredible Suction Power: The V15 Detect Extra offers exceptional suction power, capturing even the tiniest dust particles and making it effective on both carpets and hard floors.
2. Laser Dust Detection: The laser feature on the cleaner head highlights microscopic dust particles on hard floors, which is incredibly satisfying and ensures that nothing is left behind. This feature is truly a game-changer for thorough cleaning.
3. Intelligent Sensor Technology: With the piezo sensor, the V15 automatically adjusts suction power based on the amount of dust detected, helping conserve battery power and ensuring maximum cleaning efficiency.
4. Advanced Filtration: Dyson’s filtration system is excellent, capturing 99.99% of particles down to 0.3 microns. This is especially useful for allergy sufferers or homes with pets.
5. Easy-to-Use and Lightweight: Despite its powerful motor, the V15 is surprisingly lightweight and easy to maneuver around furniture, making it suitable for all ages.
6. Battery Life and Removable Battery: The battery life is impressive, and the removable battery feature allows you to swap in a second battery (if purchased) for extended cleaning sessions.

This Dyson vacuum is amazing! It’s super lightweight, easy to maneuver, and the suction power is incredible. It picks up everything—from pet hair to fine dust—with no problem. The battery life is great for quick cleanups and even full-room sessions. I love how easy it is to empty and switch attachments. Definitely one of my favorite home purchases!

Very powerful, quiet, and easy to empty.
I was skeptical about the self adjusting suction level at first but it does the trick and maximizes the battery life.
I rarely ever pull out my full size upright Dyson anymore since getting one of these and decided to get a second unit so I have one handy upstairs and downstairs. Also gave one to mom for Christmas and she appreciates the lightweight design as it is less strain on her neck and shoulder.

We've had Dyson products in the past. Our old stand up vacuum from like 2001 finally died and was beyond repair so we opted to try a Samsung stick vacuum we saw on another website. It was awful. After that we tried a Shark stick vacuum from a large big box store. Another waste of money.
I finally bit the bullet and paid the premium price for a premium product. The Dyson Stick Detect is absolutely amazing. Suction is fantastic, the battery life is great, and the lazer attachment which shows debris on the floor is really cool (even if it shows how gross your floors are).
If youre shopping for a vacuum dont get fooled by other brands offering more "value" just get what works.

I use this vacuum nearly every day. Not necessarily because I need to, but I find it very satisfying to remove all the dust and dirt collected on the floor that can only be seen with the detection light. The charger and wall mount is very convenient and looks clean against the wall. With the swivel head I find it extremely easy to go between chairs and under furniture. Going up and down the stairs is a breeze. If I vacuum the carpets I’ll have to empty out the vacuum but if it’s just the wood floors, it’ll last much longer. I can clean the whole house thoroughly with one charge no problem. Although it’s expensive, I got this at a discount and have no regrets.

Yes, the asking price is STEEP, but once you own it and use it, you won’t question your decision. This vacuum is incredible. It’s so quick and easy to use. Snatch it off the charging base and press the trigger. It eliminates all the small barriers to entry that prevent you from cleaning--pulling the vacuum out of a closet, plugging it in, wrapping the cable up when you’re done, etc. Are these first world problems? Absolutely. But, it’s the difference between me wanting to clean and not wanting to. That’s what’s so incredible about the Dyson. It makes me want to clean. Doesn’t matter if it’s the floor of my car or my hard woods in our living space or the carpet in our bedrooms or the patio rug. I just grab and go. The defect functionality is also a game changer. Ever see those videos of people deep carpet cleaning a nasty rug, or the videos of people power washing a nasty driveway? It’s ultra satisfying to watch the filth magically go away. That’s what the defect is like. At first, you can’t see any dust or debris on the ground. Then, you turn the vacuum on. All of a sudden, you see crud everywhere! With one pass, the Dyson sucks up everything. It’s amazing. We own a Roomba too. However, the defect reveals tons of stuff the Roomba didn’t pick up even immediately after the Roomba finished a cycle. And it’s not like I have an old Roomba. It’s a higher end model from just 2 years ago. Just goes to show how the Dyson outshines other vacuums—both our Roomba and our old traditional vacuum. Now, I hardly go more than a day without vacuuming in the house, whereas I literally used to go weeks, if not months, without vacuuming. So, yes, just buy it. It’s worth it, especially since they’re almost always on sale (though, even then it is still expensive).
