I never thought I’d be excited about vacuuming, but the Dyson V15 Detect Extra changed that. It’s super powerful and has some really cool features that actually make cleaning kind of fun. The green laser shows dust you wouldn’t normally see, which is both gross and satisfying. The suction is great and automatically adjusts depending on the surface or how dirty it is. I love the digital display—it shows battery life and even tracks the dust it’s picking up, which is pretty cool. The battery lasts long enough for me to clean the whole house, and all the accessories it comes with are super useful for stairs, furniture, tight spaces, and even the car. I purchased the Dyson V15 Detect in December 2024, and I have to say, I’m absolutely in love with it! It’s super lightweight and feels so sturdy — it’s clear that Dyson put a lot of thought into the design. The laser light on the head is honestly a total revelation! It illuminates dust on my hardwood floors that I didn’t even know was there, and I love that it makes cleaning more efficient. The suction power is incredible. I have both hardwood floors and carpets, and it handles both effortlessly. The High Torque head makes my carpets feel like new, picking up dirt I didn't even know was deep down. The soft roller head is great for my floors, picking up every speck of dust and debris without scratching. What’s really cool is the piezo sensor that automatically adjusts the suction depending on what it detects on the floor. It’s like the vacuum knows exactly what it’s dealing with, and it maximizes battery life too, which is awesome. Speaking of battery, I’m getting around 60 minutes on the lowest setting, which is more than enough for my space. I love how everything stores neatly in the charging dock. It looks super sleek and keeps everything organized. Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my Dyson V15 Detect! It’s worth every penny and has completely changed the way I clean my home. If you’re on the fence, just go for it — you won’t regret it!

Pros: Light weight Many attachments Suprising suction power Cons: No 3rd party battery attachment (yet) Battery is proprietary Price In the time I have owned this vacuum it has been used to pick up a variety of messes - spilt kitty litter, hair, pet fur, dirt, dust, etc. I am surprised by what it is able to pick up- it has had no trouble picking up kitty litter spilt on carpet. General use is easy - easy to move, easy to empty, easy to swap attachments. The main reasons I give this 4 and not 5 stars is the full price - you should try and get it on sale during a promo for $550 - and the fact that there is not a battery adapter for this device to use batteries from DeWalt/Milwaukee yet. There is an older model Dyson that does have this, so its just a matter of time (hopefully). But in the meantime, if I am held captive by the company where I can only buy their product as a replacement for something that breaks or wears out, then they lose a star. Overall it is convenient, handy, and easy to use. And if you get it for the right price I think its a good enough investment.

I’ve been using this vacuum for about 2 months now, and I’m honestly really happy with it. The suction is great, it’s lightweight, and all the attachments are super easy to swap and use. The green light feature is a total game changer. Once you see it in action, you realize how much dirt you were missing before. It makes it really obvious where you actually need to vacuum. Fair warning though—the green light kind of makes you paranoid about how clean your floors really are. Stuff that never bothered me before suddenly does, so I definitely find myself cleaning more often now. We use it on both carpet and hardwood, and it handles both really well. We upgraded from a Dyson V8 to the V15, and the improvement is noticeable right away. Overall, this was a great upgrade and absolutely worth it for us. Highly recommend it.

This is a beast !The suction on this vacuum is amazing I’m being honest with you! Not doing this for anything but for people on the fence! Pro’s 1-Suction 2-Awesome feature is the green dust light on the bare floor head!! I used my corded all in one type vac & then used my 1st. Dyson unreal the amount of dust / dirt still remained after using it ?then going over it again with the Dyson !! Awesome 3-The powered head for furniture really works great 4/Easily assembled 5-Easiest I ever had to dump out the crap you sucked up I mean seriously never seen this method before! SO EASY TO EMPTY THE DUST!Do you know how many vacuums that I couldn’t line up correctly to empty it & take the filter out to change or wash it ?only to spend 20 minutes trying to put it back together and then stripping the little plastic tabs??? Con’s; 1 price ya it has cool tech and graphs on the display showing you how much dust mites you sucked up and whatever the other things on it’s digital display but .. 2- plastic attachments and overall from the tube down seems awfully cheaply or flimsy made ? I have had this for a month nothing broke but it’s just you feel like you can easily break it so I try not to bump anything with it and I put the attachment in a separate area that can’t be damaged if I kept it on and a pet (dog)or family member bumps into or steps on I don’t know? I don’t trust it to not get damaged! 3-I wish it had a hose attachment or extension tube to use on areas that are high up like the top of the window ?Yup I know it’s not a floor model which typically have this on them. But for the price this vac should come with a butler ;) but seriously the performance is awesome so you get what you pay for. 4-This beast is seriously too heavy way more than I have ever had !so you can tire easily using attachments that only requires the top 1/2 of the vac!! Still the performance easily ok’s it! 4.1 weight is always going to be top heavy that’s why I wish from the tube down to the attachments the materials used deserves a better quality than this plastic add a little more weight using some parts metal or just heavier without making it like pushing a snowblower I HAVE USED MANY VACS OVER YEARS BOTH CORDED & CORDLESS FROM BISSEL TO THE SHARKS AND ALL OF THEM WERE NOT WIFE PROOF LOL SHE TENDS TO VACUUMING EVERYTHING THATS NOT NAILED DOWN NO MATTER THE SIZE ;( AND NONE OF THEM COMES CLOSE THE ONLY OTHER I HAD THAT WAS GREAT WAS A KIRBY …STILL PAYING FOR IT LOL JKING. Quick Overview ================================= The Dyson V15 Detect Extra is Dyson's most powerful vacuum to-date with a ton of accessories and a key new feature that may make it the best choice for those with pets, lots of long hair, and hard floors. This specific model from Best Buy also includes a pivoting right-angle tool that will help you get low under tables or furniture or high onto a ledge or shelf. Overall build and setup ================================= If you haven't used/owned a Dyson vacuum before, you're getting arguably one of the best-engineered vacuums out there. Much time (and money) have been spent on technology and R&D to develop a new suction method to provide powerful suction and filtration without losing power over time. The build is mostly plastic with their signature style including a bottom-mounted battery which leads to a grip that connects to the central suction/canister areas. You'll see a much larger canister here than on the older/smaller v6-8 models. See my pictures for a size comparison with a V7. Overall it's well-balanced and comfortable to hold. You get a ton of attachments, some which require a special callout: --Main shaft, crevice tool, right-angle adapter, fine brush, coarse brush w/extension, wall mount, carrying clip (for your favorite tool) and... --Fluffy Optic - this is made for hard floors and is the standout new one that has a low-angle green laser that illuminates dust (so much dust!) --Anti-Tangle Comb - this head is good for all floors and has high-torque to really get things clean. It has a special feature to keep hair off the rollers --Anti-Tangle Screw Hair Tool - this narrow head has a "screw" design which should ball up hair for pickup so it doesn't wrap around the vacuum filter in the canister One big thing you'll want to know: This doesn't have a push-button on/off. This is a trigger that must be held to use. For those that don't/can't use trigger-style vacuums, you may need to shop around. The first thing you'll want to do is plug it in to charge fully, then complete the setup which consists of selecting your language (English, in this case) and battery mode (Eco for longest life, lowest suction; Medium, for automatic adjustments; High for maximum power). Another thing you'll note is there's no mention of HEPA filtration on this model, but they do talk about the ability to filter up to 0.3 microns and expel cleaner air. Performance ================================= This is a powerful vacuum! In a house with no pets, but three girls with long hair, this grabbed hair on floors, carpets, and rugs without issue. I will say that some hair did get onto the internal filter in the canister, but perhaps we didn't get everything using the Screw Hair Tool first. I believe the "order of operations" should be to use the Screw Hair Tool to get your hair/fur off of most surfaces first, then use the proper tool for hard floors or carpets (Fluffy Optic or "standard" with Anti-Tangle Comb). After that, you'd use the smaller brushes, crevice tool, etc. As you vacuum with the Fluffy Optic, you'll see things you wish you could unsee... Yes, that bright green laser which is precisely angled will highlight all the dust and dander that you never really noticed before. It's literally an eye-opener in terms of clearly seeing what you're vacuuming up and what you've left behind (or not yet gotten to). For completionists and power-washer fans, it's a great attachment that will help you see your progress. On top of that, the rear face of the V15 shows you a bar graph with 4 categories based on the size of the particles being sucked up! From tiny allergens to crumbs/sugar-sized ones, you can see what you're cleaning. For those with allergies or sensitivity to fine dust, this can really help show if you've done a good enough job cleaning or not. I plan to establish somewhat of a "baseline" by keeping track of the numbers and seeing if there's any improvement as I continue to vacuum over a week/month/etc. It'd be nice if the Dyson app (used to register your V15) provided more than just marketing info, usage guides, and rudimentary troubleshooting. What if it could keep track of your stats for you? High-power mode is great, but short-lived. I didn't run down the battery, but only use this when you really need it. As for Eco mode, I could see that doing a great job if you have a lot of hard floors to clean with just dust to worry about. It should last near the stated 60-minute runtime. As for medium/auto, this is probably the best default mode if you're dealing with mixed surfaces and possible fur/hair along with dust and crumbs. You can hear the motor/suction adjusting as you vacuum based on what types/size particles it's detecting. We're getting more than 30 minutes of runtime in this mode which is enough to take care of vacuuming tasks, especially if you do it once a week or more often. How did the V15 Detect deal with 3 girls' long hair? Well, it did get them off any surface we had, but cleaning the canister wasn't as easy as just pushing the release into a bin. The long hair (> 16") did get tangled around the internal filters so it required removing the entire clear canister to get the hair (and dust) off. I would not recommend doing this inside since things get messy. Doing this outside, halfway into your trash bin or bag is best, and watch out for the wind direction! Conclusion ================================= I'd say this is the probably the best cleaning tool we have in the house to-date. We also use a Dyson V7 and an LG CordZero A9. Compared to those, this V15 Detect is certainly bigger and more powerful. Unlike the LG, there's a trigger-mechanism here which may be a deal-breaker for some. Overall though, I do love the Fluffy Optic brush with the green dust illuminator. There's no doubt your floors are getting cleaner when you can literally see the dust that you may have left behind with your other vacuums. Not only that, you can see the stats on the back of the vacuum, showing the types of particles you're getting. I'd say this vacuum (or one of Dyson's other HEPA ones) along with some good air filters should keep homes squeaky-clean for those that are sensitive to dust and dander. I can't stress this enough, the illumination is literally eye-opening and will show you more dust than you care to know you have! This Dyson V15 Detect Extra has definitely made it into the regular cleaning rotation and I think the V7 is about to retire as a small "spot" or car vacuum.

It picked up stuff I didn’t even know was there – pet hair, fine dust, glitter (don’t ask ), and even that mysterious grit that always ends up under the couch. The Dyson V15 Detect Extra vacuum is a powerful cordless vacuum whose performance actually rivals that of our plug-in vacuum. I think “versatile” is the word that best describes the Dyson V15 Detect. It comes with a plethora of attachments that make any cleaning task from floors to ceiling fans a breeze. One of the included accessories is the wand storage clip. It allows onboard storage of two accessory attachments. I find it’s handy for the combination tool and the crevice tool. Both are used in multiple applications. The crevice tool has a light pipe on it that illuminates the area to be cleaned. It does a great job on stairs where they meet the wall and also where the stair tread meets the riser. The lighted crevice tool is also perfect in the car because it allows me to see into and reach the dark recesses under the seats. The mini soft dusting brush made short work of removing the dust from the blinds in the kitchen and bedrooms. It has soft, flexible bristles, so it also does a bang-up job around tabletop decorations without disrupting their arrangement. The Digital Motorbar cleaner is a general-purpose vacuum head that does a great job on carpeting and rugs. It has a three-position slider to vary suction power, and that’s a good thing. On max suction, it was picking up the area rugs. Sliding it down to the minimum suction setting allows me to clean the area rugs without incident. I found that it does a good job along baseboards if I keep the head perpendicular to the baseboard, cleaning from the extreme right or left side of the head. If I pushed the head forward into the baseboard, it inevitably left behind some debris. That’s okay because the swivel head is extremely maneuverable and a turn of the wrist is all it takes to capture any fugitives from cleanup. There is another cleaner head called the “Fluffy Optic” cleaner. It projects a green light across solid surface flooring in front of the cleaner head and makes any debris stand out for easy location and cleaning. Even dust that would otherwise go unnoticed becomes glaringly obvious, and the Dyson V15 Detect does a great job of capturing even the smallest particles. A wall mount charging station is included for a convenient storage option that means your Dyson V15 Detect Extra is always ready to go to work. Alternatively, the battery is removable and can be charged while off the vacuum body. I appreciate the versatility these charging options allow. There is a color digital display that communicates vacuum status Including battery charge percentage, power setting (Eco, Medium, or Boost), and realtime details of dirt levels being picked up and remaining run time. Regarding the amount of dirt being picked up, the vacuum monitors what’s being collected in real time and automatically adjusts motor speed to effectively balance cleaning power and efficiency. Packaging indicates a run time of up to 60 minutes. I vacuumed our entire first floor, a screen porch, stairs, and a carpet runner in the garage, a project that took about 45 minutes. When I plugged in the vacuum for recharge, it indicated there was 30 percent capacity remaining. Following the first-floor vacuum, the large dust cup was pretty full. Emptying is as easy as pushing a lever on the back of the vacuum body forward. Contents of the dust cup drop into the trash. Pull the lever back into position, close the lid on the bottom of the cup, and it’s ready to go. If I have any criticism of the Dyson V15 Detect, it would be the weight and the power switch. After 30-plus minutes of continuous operation, it starts to get a little heavy. More than that, the trigger-style switch must be continuously depressed to keep the vacuum running. It’s conveniently located right where the index finger falls while holding the vacuum, but extended cleaning sessions can cause some fatigue. I think I prefer the on/off buttons of our other cordless vacuums. My impression of the Dyson V15 Detect Extra is overwhelmingly positive. It matches the performance of our plug-in vacuums in a convenient cordless package. The included accessories mean that no job is out of reach.

Our daughter has a Dyson in Toronto Ontario. We used it our last visit and fell in love with their unit. Easy to use, light weight, does a great job! So our first action back in the states was to research the unit best for us with consumer reports help. As we age (70’s) this unit is a big improvement over our old Hoover Wind Tunnel.

I have had Dyson v10 that i bought tears ago stopped working due to its age so i bought the v15 stick vacuum and it has been a great experience to use. Just set it to auto and start vacuuming it is so smart that it changes the succion automatically depending on the debris its taking. Its a neat upgrade to my old one and its easy to use as well on the hardwood floors with guided debris light with you wont miss a spot. Overall, very good upgrade from Dyson with additional accessories included. Got it for less in BestBuy during Thanksgiving sale and worrh the money.

I absolutely love the Dyson V15 Detect cordless stick vacuum. Despite its compact size, it delivers incredible suction power. The battery life has been solid.....while some reviews mention issues, I’ve had no problems so far. It’s easy to empty and clean, and it quickly converts into a smaller handheld vacuum when needed. With two Husky dogs, this vacuum has held up amazingly, helping keep our home under control. It is on the expensive side, but every penny has been worth it. I would absolutely recommend this vacuum.

THE BREAKDOWN: This Dyson – V15 Detect Extra Cordless Vacuum is simply amazing. It has a ton of power and the tools to do almost any job you need. You can even buy a few more extra pieces if you find that you need another specialized tool. Getting this vacuum setup and ready to use was very simple. It felt like Christmas when open the box because there were to many parts and pieces to unwrap. Included with this vacuum are the wand, docking station, charger, combination tool, hair screw tool, reach under tool, light pipe crevice tool, wand clip, digital motorbar cleaner head, fluffy Optic cleaner head, and owner’s manual. Once this was charged, I took it over the area where my dogs hang out and started sweeping. I normally must do 2 to 3 passes to get all the hair. This time it actually got all the hair with one pass. I even took the long tube off and put the screw tool directly under the tool and vacuumed my stairs. Not only did the hair not wrap around it took almost all of the dog hair off my carpeted stairs. I used the fluffy optic on the rest of my hardwood floors which worked amazing, and I love the light. I even took the blind cleaning attachment and cleaned my blinds, and it worked like a charm. The suction on this vacuum is amazing. The battery only lasts about 15 minutes on max power and around 45-60 minutes on auto. I didn’t find myself really needing max power and found that leaving it on auto worked well for me. I love the power trigger on this vacuum, it almost feels as if it was a light saber when you use it. Emptying the vacuum is extremely easy. I don’t feel like the rubber that is around the screen inside is tight enough to get all the debris in the container and I found myself trying to clean the top part once you open the container to empty it. PRO’s: - Easy to get up and running - Amazing suction power - Converts to a handheld - A ton of attachments CON’s: - None SUMMARY: Overall, this product worked as intended, and I would recommend this to a friend if they were in the market for a product like this.

My first Dyson, I was nervous, they are pricey, but they are good. This is a great vacuum and the green light feature that shows you where the dust is - awesome! I thought I was doing a good job before but this vacuum shows me the dirty truth! It highlights the area you are working in so you can see what is there so you can be as thorough as you want. The battery life on the highest setting is under an hour, but that's enough to do the whole house. It's lightweight for the most part which is nice. The cordless nature is amazing.. no more lugging the cord around from area to area, now I can get the vacuuming done in half the time I used to! This is a great tool. I cant speak to its longevity as it has only been 2 months.

I would give it a 4.6 if I could. I love the light (who knew I had so much dust and hair on my seemingly “clean” wood floors?!?). Suction is good and I like that it came with the 2 floor attachments. To buy an older model for $399 than a hardwood attachment for $80-100 gets you a lot closer to the price of this vacuum. I like how it bumps the suction when it senses more particulates. Battery life is great and the meter is accurate! What would make it perfect? It’s not simple to manually turn to max suction on demand like my V8, or maybe it’s not hard and I haven’t figured out how to do it. I’ve bumped the right edge a couple times and the lights gone out. I thought I broke it on the first use but if I stopped and restarted, the light came back on. Biggest issue - the dirt empties out the bottom side vs back side of the canister, so I have to remove the bottom hose/attachment before I can empty it. Not a dealbreaker, but much less simple than my V8.
