However, the wall mount kit did not hold all of the attachments. This meant you also have to store the parts elsewhere. That was a deal breaker for us.

Posted .Hi, this is Aimee with Dyson. I am happy to hear you purchased the V6 Absolute. The docking station is able to hold a couple of the attachments that come with the unit. With the V6 Absolute including multiple tools, plus an additional cleanerhead, to attach each to the docking station would mean the docking station would be bulky and add more weight. Great for the first couple years.

It was great at picking up particles that my corded vacuum left behind. However, the excite was short lived about after three years. The battery died fast and then it failed to hold a charge. I understand that rechargeable batteries will not hold a charge after a while, but for a product that is $500+ I would expect it to last longer than 3 years. Being that I live in Hawaii, I contacted Dyson. Because of the restrictions on transporting lithium batteries via air, I was unable to purchase a replacement battery. Instead, Dyson offered me a 20% off coupon for a new vacuum. It seemed ridiculous that I still had to dish out at least $400 for a new vacuum for something that may not last more than 3 years. Hopefully the newer versions of the Dyson cordless vacuums have better battery life cycles, but for now I am not going to purchase another Dyson cordless vacuum.

Thank you for providing this review of your V6 Absolute. We're sorry to hear there may have been an issue with the battery life on your initial purchase but it is excellent to hear you took the opportunity to upgrade to some new Dyson technology.
It is important to note that our cordless machines have 2 different settings: Regular mode that will give the vacuum 16-20 minutes of run time and MAX mode that will double suction power, but reduce run time to about 6 minutes. All cordless machines are set to MAX mode right out of the box.
To engage/disengage MAX mode on the V6 you may push the gray max button on the very back of the vacuum while the trigger is pressed. You will notice a change in sound and the quieter setting is regular mode and will give you the vacuum's full run time.

I love how light and functional it is. Like the color too. Love how easy it is to maneuver. I like how I can change the length of the vacuum very easily. I can vacuum my car, stairs, kitchen, couches and get under the couches and all the little crevices in my house. Also it's cordless big plus. The only draw back it that the battery dies after 8 minutes or so and it has to recharge. All in all I am very happy with my gift.

Ok maybe you could give it 2 because it is light, functional under furniture and can go anywhere without having to worry about a cord, BUT it fails significantly in the fact that you can only vacuum for 6 MIN and then it takes 2-3hours to recharge. Are you kidding me, 6 min for a 2-3 hour charge. We can barely get one room done while running and sweating to make that happen. People love this thing because they are supposed to love it because it gives them status (I don't talk about my new vacuum to impress friends). There is nothing I love more and am will to do than spend a hefty fee on something that is just of outstanding quality. But the fact that this machine fails at its one job, unless all you have to do is 6 min of work, then I beg you please NEVER no matter how much this thing is on sale NEVER buy it. I warned you! (and I hate having to spend my time writing a review but I needed to let you know)

The V6 is great for in between cleanings, quick clean ups or small areas as it does feature 20 minutes of constant suction in standard mode and 6 minutes on MAX power for tougher jobs. We recommend only using MAX mode when debris cannot be picked up with standard mode.

It may help to switch the vacuum to standard mode for use on your shag carpet. MAX mode provides even more suction and should be used for tougher jobs.

If you use it on normal power it barely has any suction, and won't even pick up dust.

No more carrying a bulky vacuum across multi-level homes. My favorite part is the ease in which I can clean my stairs, these days. This machine can be used on carpet and hard floors. The Dyson makes cleaning up after my pets uber easy and quick. It's a great deal for an amazing product.
