I received the Dyson - V7 Fluffy Cord-Free Stick Vacuum - Iron/Blue as part of the Best Buy Tech Insider Network. Always wanted a Dyson vacuum but never wanted to spend the money. This is a good start. Initial impressions were there a lot of parts and pieces. But setup was okay. It even comes with a mounting system to hold the vacuum, some attachments and also charge the vacuum. Usage is great, it has many different usages and attachments for many uses. Hardwood, tile, etc are it's bread and butter. With 75% hardwood and 3 cats it's a great lightweight simple tool. Can be used for carpet but isn't great at it. I also use to clean my cat trees since it's so one hand friendly and has an attachment for furniture. Will wait a longer but I'm probably going to dread cleaning/replacing its many filters. Hopefully parts are inexpensive. I like it overall and will get plenty of use out of it.

In typical Dyson fashion, the vacuum come out of the box, very easy to set up. The vacuum comes with the newer "fluffy" head that is designed for solid (non-carpet) floors. This will not work on carpet, but you could buy a different vacuum head if you wanted to. Use: Very easy. There is a trigger that you hold for on/off. Two power modes, but the powerful mode will drain the battery very quickly, and with hard surface only, at least with this vacuum head, you don't need to use it. Since you aren't vacuuming carpet, you could easily hit the advertised 30 minute battery life. The other tools that come with it are a easily attached/detached by just pushing a small lever. Very easy to do. Overall: good battery life, good suction, easy to use. Would recommend!

    Dyson v7 fluff

After 5 years with this Dyson, I can say that I can’t live without it. My wife and cat both shed hair like no other. I am bald. I vacuum 2-3 times a day. The battery crapped out once. The vacuum shut off when I switch to TURBO mode. I called Dyson and they sent a new battery (I love warranty). The fluffy thing on the bottom make it great for hardwood floor.

All of the floors in our house are hardwood or tile and we have many area rugs & oriental rugs. While our old upright works well on the rugs, it wasn't useful for the bare floors. Enter the V7 Fluffy- silly name aside, this thing is great!! It gets all the bare floors and bathroom/kitchen tiles, the narrow head means it fits in those little gaps between walls and the edge of a rug, etc. It's super light weight, so I can finally make a quick pass up the stairs every few days without dragging out the extension hose for the upright. The additional attachments and size mean I can also get rid of my barely operational Dust Buster!

Really simple vacuum that gets the job done on my hardwood flooring. The run time is only 30 minutes and it takes forever to reach full charge but if you're like me and don't have a giant house then the 30 minutes is sufficient time for cleaning on low power. On the extreme suction setting it doesn't last as long but I never found it necessary to use this setting. I only used the setting with the included attachments for cleaning my car or the ceilings in my house. It doesn't need a bag so the dirt is easy to dispose. Overall, it's a great vacuum with a lot of versatility and gets the job done.

The quick and the dirty - it's not perfect, but it is the best for the money! Battery life is less than 10 minutes on max, but I haven't found a need to run on max, so I throttle back and get around 30 minutes. Our house is a mix of wood and tile floors. We have 4 cats and 2 dogs, so needless to say we have a lot of pet hair that becomes tumbleweeds on the floor. This vac sucks them right up without any issues and seems to be better than any other vac we have tried on the solid bare floors. We've been extremely satisfied - it does it's job and it does it well!

I’ve always been curious about the Dyson vacuum cleaners. I was looking for something that was light weight to replace my old fashioned heavy straw broom. I’m a senior and have a torn rotator cuff that is being repaired which will leave me one handed for quite awhile. This vacuum may be too heavy to help me during my recovery. The Dyson comes with a nice wall mounted charging station and has 4 separate attachments, only two will mount on the station. The other two have to be stored elsewhere. I found that I could pull the Dyson off of the charger one handed so it is easy to grab and go. The primary floor cleaner is soft and I noticed that it actually made my floors shine. There are two suction power selections. I mostly kept it on the lighter selection to save the battery. I have a combination of tile, hardwood, carpet and area rugs. The V7 fluffy is great for the tile and hard wood as it was designed for. It grabbed the cat litter that my cat tracks through the laundry room and even took care of the litter on the low pile runner on the hardwood outside the laundry. For some reason I, nor my husband, could push it on the small low pile area rug in my dining room. The suction locked it down but it worked fine on the small entry door rug. It also worked great on my gel mats in the kitchen. The head is not very wide so you have to make multiple passes to grab all the dirt and dust. I had to pay close attention when edge cleaning. It worked well but took a couple of passes to get all the debris. I really liked how it cleaned my dark tile bathroom floor. It got all the hair and accumulated dust and made the floor look nice and clean. I’m not a fan of the trigger mechanism instead of the on/off button but may learn to like it. I found that it will take two hands to empty the dust bin and that felt awkward but that may be because of my mobility issue. One big negative for these type vacuums is that there no way to “rest” it for a moment. As an example I was vacuuming away when the phone rang. I had to lay it flat on the floor to grab the phone. I wish it would lock in an upright position. A real positive is that it runs so quietly that I actually heard the phone ring! I love that there is no cord to wind and that the suction is really strong. It did very well on my all the tile and hardwood floors. I think it will work great as a handheld to vacuum the car and all those type jobs as well. This sure beats the old two handed straw broom, but it probably won’t get my husband out of vacuuming while I recover from surgery, just a bit too heavy for me right now.

PRO -Great power brush for hard flooring. Nicely articulated for easy movement. -Comes with second power head for upholstery or general floors -Wall bracket has attachment storage CON -Pricey -Battery life is 30 minutes at best, only when using it on low with regular attachments. If you use high suction or the power brush attachments, it's reduced to 6 - 15 minutes. Maybe that's enough for your daily/weekly cleaning regimen, maybe not. -Small dirt bin fills up fast. But with relatively short battery life, that may not be a big issue. -Comes with five attachments, but wall bracket can only hold two. Counting the one that can be left on the vacuum itself, that still leaves two attachments that must be stored elsewhere on their own. -No basic T-head attachment -The attachment lock collar is almost twice as wide as the main shaft. Even if the crevice tool and shaft itself could fit behind something ( maybe to vacuum under the fridge or oven ), the locking collar will prevent it. -Vacuum is loud and quite shrill on high suction. TL/DR Dyson vacuums are built well and perform well, no doubt. The problem with them is always price and if you're willing to pay it, especially for a vacuum that won't replace your big general purpose stand- or canister-vac. It's a great companion vacuum for your hard flooring, dusting up in high places, cleaning your car, or doing some quick spot cleaning. But it doesn't have the battery life or necessary attachments to be able to clean your whole home. If you can find it on sale, it's a good buy. But at full price, it seems more like a pure luxury item. For the same money you could get a robust stand-up vacuum and a lower budget battery hand vacuum that would cover your needs just as well.

This Dyson V7 works as a handheld or upright. It has multiple combinations and offers plenty of choices with its floor-length tube and assortment of tools. It has a standard plug-in charger but the also comes with a wall mounted dock that you can plug the charger into so that the V7 goes on charge as soon as it's docked - no messing with cables or plugins. Battery life makes the V7 makes it more suitable for small jobs (one to two rooms, not an entire house) or spot cleanup tool. I ran it a little over 25 minutes without running out in the "regular" mode (it has a trigger so it only runs while you're actually using it), and in max mode it lasted about 8 minutes of actual vacuuming. This Dyson is the most powerful handheld I've ever used - by a noticeable amount. While on the lower power setting it did a reasonable job of pulling dust from in between the spaces in my hardwood floor, on max mode it was exceptional. It even did an excellent job picking pet hair off the hardwood. I also put some cornflakes, rice, and baby powder on the tile floor in the kitchen. The fluffy head did not leave behind any powder residue whatsoever. The only things I felt were against it only has a single battery which I am not sure is removable, so if you run out of juice you have to stop and recharge the unit, and the fact the bin fills up quickly as it is rather small -- it's hard to remember it's meant to be portable as it does such a tremendous job.

Before I write anything else, let me just say that my 4 year old daughter loves this vacuum and will ask to vacuum her room up whenever I bring it out. If that isn't incentive enough, read on! Coming from a Dyson DC39 Animal vacuum, I thought I knew what to expect from this. I was not expecting to be smiling as I vacuumed around the house. My wife and I used to have a dog and two cats, with carpet only in our two bedrooms, so at the time, the "animal" vacuum made sense. Now that we're down to just the dog, and we ripped out the carpets to put down more hardwood, having that big beastly vacuum seemed like overkill, especially since we had to go over vacuumed areas with some kind of disposable cloth cleaning system to swoop up any superfine dust particles that were ignored by the vacuum beater brush bristles. The "fluffy" beater brush on the Dyson V7 is meant for hardwood and similar flooring. I was glad that I no longer have to do double work around the house to get the fine dust particles that the new vacuum head picks up. There is a smaller attachment with a traditional brush that I can use on the runner made of carpet tiles that we put down to give the dog some traction. I really appreciate the cord free aspect of this vacuum as compared with my previous one. The lightness of the unit plus the balance makes using it a breeze. The button that you hold down to operate the vacuum is located where you can press it with your index finger while gripping the unit, and is very, very sensitive. I accidentally press it every time I pick it up, put it down, insert it into the charging dock, or remove it from said dock. The sensitivity does make it easy to squeeze for extended periods of time, like when actually vacuuming instead of just trying it out for a review or something, so no points off there. While I was vacuuming, my daughter was watching her show on the TV, Steven something or another was fighting a monster that was also some kind of mineral deposit. A couple minutes into clearing the fur tumbleweeds that gather in the dining room, I felt a tug at my arm. "I really like that vacuum, daddy. I can still hear my show!" I looked down and there was my daughter, amazed at our new vacuum. "Can I try it?" The vacuum was light enough for her to operate, even with the extended tube. The button was easy enough for even her to press, and she can't even press vending machine buttons hard enough to operate them. Soon she was asking if she could run it until the battery ran out, which it did after about half an hour of continuous use. I didn't even have to trick her into wanting to vacuum all the time. Now she asks me every couple of days if she can use the vacuum until the battery dies. If this isn't heaven... There is an extreme beast mode that you could use to handle really tough piles of whatever that need to get sucked up and into the canister, and is really loud, but this also eats the battery so you only get around 8 minutes from my testing. I feel that the new canister design is both easier to empty, but also messier. I don't always have a pristine empty trash bin, so the fact that I have to hold the canister over it with enough clearance underneath to allow the trap door to swing open without hitting any garbage already in the bin. This means holding it about 2 feet over the bin, allowing dust to go all over the area around the trash receptacle. I could insert it deeper into the trash can before opening the hatch, but then I could get garbage juice all over it, which then gets covered with more dust. Still a better design than the old canister since I don't have to remove a second section to get at the "core" of the canister. I guess the only sore point for me was that none of my old attachments from my older Dyson model fit on the new vacuum, however there is a corresponding new attachment for each of the old ones, save for the specialized animal grooming brush that scares my dog too much to use anyways, and if I sell or give away my old vacuum the new owner would want them anyways, so no points off there.

Great cordless vacuum for hard surfaces

In the box: The D7 “Fluffy” came with anextension tube, a high-density “fluffy” motor head, a crevice tool, a motorized stair-tread tool, two brush heads, a mounting bracket, and charging adapter. Tools, bracket, and charging adapter would not fit on our old DC59. Design: The D7 has the same 100 air watts rating as our DC59 but is much quieter and has more suction on the high setting. The new design allows cleaning of grid in bin. This makes dumping the canister a bit more awkward, but the ability to clean the grid inside the bin is well worth the effort of learning a new dump method. The extension tube and power head are quite maneuverable. The “fluffy” head on the D7 practically polishes hard-surface floors. My only fault with the D7 Fluffy is that there is no light on the motor-head. This would have been a relatively inexpensive addition to the design. Overall: I like the power and cleaning on hard surfaces, but miss the multi-surface capability of our older DC59.

Powerful, Great Attachments, Short Battery Life

According to the product description, the Dyson V7 Fluffy is primarily intended for hardwood floors. Almost every room of our house has hardwood, and the V7 Fluffy has been fantastic on them. The powerful vacuum combined with the soft, spinning rollers combine to really get the floors clean, picking up larger pieces of debris all the way down to the very small stuff that sometimes clings to the wood and gets missed by other vacuums. The V7 was easy to set up, and lightweight enough that it's comfortable to use as a rolling vacuum or a handheld. I particularly like the mechanism to empty the dustbin, which uses a trap door that you open while holding the device over a trash can or in a trash bag. Gravity does most of the work, and a few taps finish the job. There are two different filters that come out/off easily for monthly cleaning. I was very pleased to find that this V7 Fluffy package comes with a bunch of other attachments, so it's not JUST for the floors. There's a crevice tool that's been great in corners, a brush tool that's been helpful with molding and vents, a tool that has a small fabric strip for upholstery, and a mini roller attachment that's a bit like the floor tool but with rubberized brushes and a narrower body for smaller spaces (it's been super for the car!). Any of the attachments can be used alone or with the extension wand, making for a large number of configurations. Both of the roller attachments are powered, which makes for better cleaning, but cuts down battery life. Speaking of battery life, that would be my one complaint about the V7 Fluffy. The product description says up to 30 minutes of run time, and that's been about right, but only when I'm not using one of the powered attachments, and only when I don't activate the "MAX" power mode . Even in our relatively small home, I needed to return the V7 to the charger after doing the floors in a few rooms with the powered "Fluffy" roller. Charging is easy, but takes a few hours. There's a wall-mount included in the box, as well as the charging cord, which feeds through the mount and makes it easy to stow and charge. If you prefer not to use the the wall-mount, you can plug the cord directly into the V7. The wall mount holds the V7 with any attachments connected, and has two additional slots for attachments. That still left a few unaccounted for, so I keep them on a nearby shelf. Overall, I'm very happy with the V7 Fluffy. It's doing a great job on my hardwood floors, and is just as useful for other places in our house and car. The suction is impressive, especially on "MAX" mode. I do wish the battery lasted longer between charges, though, so I could clean the whole house without having to wait a few hours for recharging.

We have two dogs and lots of wood floors. That means paw prints and fur balls! This Dyson has ample suction to grab the fur balls, and the velvety roller bar polished up the prints. But using the vacuum as a handheld is the best part! I clean the stairs like a champ with it and I have even swept the car out a couple times. The battery lasts at least a half hour every time. The build quality is so far above other brands that is more than justifies the cost. Emptying the canister is NO MESS. So easy. This is a solid tool that I can’t imagine not having.

    A vacuum named Fluffy

The Dyson V7 Stick vacuum is another well made product that lives up to the Dyson name. It boasts 107,000 RPM. I don't know how you would measure that in the home, but what it means for performance is this incredibly powerful unit will pick up even dust from floors and other surfaces with ease. It's not the cheapest option, but you won't need to replace this anytime soon, so it's worth the investment. And I've seen it on sale too. It comes with a 2 year warranty when you register your device. The Fluffy part of the name refers to the soft brushes that are designed for hardwood floors. It's gentle on the surfaces so it won't scratch the floor, but still does a great job of cleaning them. It will still work on other floors so you're not limited to just those rooms. And you can convert it into a handheld for furniture or other use. It's so versatile, including attachments and a docking station for mounting on the wall. It also has a washable filter. This vacuum is cordless, requiring you to charge it before use. No cords to manage or limit your movement, or that you have to unplug and move to another spot. At the highest 'Max mode' setting, it runs for up to 6 minutes, but the regular (still very powerful) setting offers up to 30 minutes of battery life. From what I've seen so far it lives up to the claims as far as power and battery use. It's easy to assemble and separate for handheld use. It can even be used for ceilings and corners that you might have difficulty reaching with another machine, and unlike using a broom, it sucks up the dust. The canister is able to hold the smallest particles, and instructions on emptying it are included (plastic bag to avoid releasing any of it back into the room). Much of the directions are diagrams, but I didn't think it was confusing; there's enough text that it's easy to understand everything you need to know. Overall I was impressed with this vacuum and and found no problems with design or performance. It's the best product I've tried and worked great on my floors. And it's easy to assemble, operate and maintain.

This is an outstanding product. i’ve had a larger Dyson vacuum for over 10 years. Dyson re-invented the vacuum and continues to innovate with new products like this. It is superior to the other similar products I’ve had from their competitors. The charge lasts longer and the quality of construction is unparalleled. The product usability Dyson designs into their products is second to none. I highly recommend this product. We use this as a second vacuum on the lower level of our house so we don’t have to lug around a larger vacuum between floors.
