Owned Dyson vacuums for years. This one was purchased for my parents to make it easier or them to clean the hardwood floors and tile. They love it.

I bought this because we have several dogs and cats and I need something to get the fur off of the furniture. It works great for that. I just wish it held a charge for a few minutes longer.

It has a lot of power and works great on hard floors. The powerhead is OK for carpet, but it doesn't clean like a carpet-specific head does.

Pros: -Packaged very well. Looks like it would be hard to damage in shipping. -Very easy to assemble. Click, click and you’re ready to go. -The double pivot on the powered floor head allows the floor head to get under some fairly low clearance furniture. -Soft floor head that doesn’t scratch wood floors. -Decent suction. However, be forewarned that if you have it set on Max Suction, you’ll burn through an entire battery charge in about 6 minutes. -Recharging docking station for storing the vac (see cons). Hang it on the docking station and it starts recharging. -On the Max Suction setting, Dyson states you’ll get 6 minutes of operation. We timed it twice from a full charge and both times it lasted 7 minutes before the battery was fully discharged. -On the High Suction Extended Run setting, Dyson states a full battery will give 30 minutes of operation. Once again we timed it twice from a full charge and both times it lasted 31-1/2 minutes. -Near the end of 30 minutes of constant running, the battery’s surface temp had only risen from 72 degrees F in the beginning to 86 degrees F at the end. Cons: -Heavy and fatiguing to use. For someone with any hand strength issues, this vac is very, very, very difficult to use! There is no sweet spot as far as balance is concerned. You are constantly manhandling it and fighting its bulky, off-balance mass. Fortunately, this style of vac is made for quick jobs and not whole house cleaning. -The fact that you must hold the trigger constantly is also fatiguing. In addition it has a hair trigger causing the vac to momentarily turn on over and over if your finger is inside the trigger guard area. -No on-machine attachment storage during use. You must return to wherever you store them in order to swap an attachment. -The wall mounted docking station is a great way to recharge and store the vac and “most” of the attachments. I say “most” because, oddly, Dyson designed the docking station and vac to store all but one attachment. The crevice tool and brush attachment snap into the docking station. The 30” floor extension and one powered head are stored snapped together and then snapped into the vac body in their normal in-use position. This leaves the second powered head with nowhere to be stored on the now combined docking station/vac. Dyson’s engineers should’ve figure out a way to store the other powered head somewhere on the docking station. -Nowhere in the Dyson v7 Operating Manual does it tell you that the recharging plug is supposed to be installed inside the docking station. No pictures and no text. On page 7, there is a very tiny image of a wall outlet and a plug and above that the words, "Recharging on the dock." I wonder how many people may have installed the docking station on the wall based strictly on the vacuum's dimensions without regard for the nearness of the closest AC wall outlet? Then later figuring out the recharging plug and cord are supposed to be clipped inside the docking station and now can't be plugged into the wall outlet without using an extension cord. Summary: Overall, the Dyson v7 Fluffy is a decent cordless/rechargeable vacuum cleaner. But after using it for a few weeks, I don’t think it supports the $249.99 price tag. We own six cordless stick vacs and in comparison to the others we think the v7 should be priced somewhere in the $150 to $200 range. If you can catch it on sale, I can recommend it for small, quick jobs by people with strong hands.

Fluffy roller perfect for hard floors

This is a great model since the only other way to get the fluffy roller head is to buy the absolute model. The normal cleaning head is meant for carpet and it will work on hard floors. However, with the normal head you will experience some dirt shooting out the backside of the cleaning head. Fluffy roller does not have the problem. Stay clear of accidental hitting water puddles though because the fluffy roller head is a fabric of some sort and I imagine it will absorb any liquids. Overall a great buy if you have hard floors.

We recently installed hardwood floors in our home and have used various methods a trying to keep them clean. We have tried dry mops, Swiffer wetjet, all with varying degrees of success. None of those compare to using the Dyson Fluffy. The wife had just swept the floors with a dry mop when I came home with the Dyson. She sweeped again with the Dyson to see how it felt and worked and I could not believe how much more dirt, lint and pet hair was in the canister! Best purchase ever for hardwood floors, bar none!
