I will not return it because I can use it on my floors for quick cleaning. It vacuums the cars well but the battery charge is so short that u can't complete the job without having to recharge.

Our cordless models feature a run-time enhancing trigger, hygienic bin emptying, and a variety of tools and attachments to tackle varying cleaning tasks. With regard to battery life on our V7, your machine features two power modes, regular and MAX. Right out of the box, the machine will be set to MAX power, which provides a generous boost of suction power to tackle more stubborn messes or larger debris. In this mode, your run time will be up to 7 minutes. For everyday household vacuuming, regular power mode will provide sufficient suction, along with 20-30 minutes of run time, depending on the tool being used. Dyson V7 cordless vacuums feature two suction modes, MAX and regular power. While regular power is suitable for most household messes, you may find that some debris is more stubborn to pick up and does require MAX power mode. While in MAX power, your unit will receive a boost of power, making suction more powerful. When fully charged, you can expect run time from 7-30 minutes, depending on which suction mode and tools you are using.

Very Good, But Some Negatives
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Dyson V7 Motorhead Is the first cordless vacuum I have owned. I have found that cords can be annoying, however, they provide you with steady power for an unlimited amount of time. But I wanted the convenience of cordless. So when Dyson increased the runtime and power on the new V7 Motorhead I decided to give it a try. Out of the box the V7 Motorhead was easy to assemble. It is an upright vacuum with the motor and dust cup at the top of the unit. This detaches to become a handheld portable unit for increased versatility and for use with the 2 included smaller attachments for cleaning tight spaces or for automobiles. Also included is a very well designed storage bracket. It makes it very easy to hang the vacuum on the wall and you can integrate the charger so that every time you place the vacuum in the holder it will charge. The vacuum comes with a 20% charge and says it will take 3 1/2 hours to fully charge before the first use. I found it only took about 2 hours. I have a 1300 square foot apartment with 3 bedrooms. I definitely had range anxiety and maybe cleaned at a little faster pace than normal because I was expecting the power to run out at anytime, but it never did. I was able to finish the entire apartment, even cleaning tight places with the crevice tool and cleaning the sofa with the brush attachment. Dyson promises 30 minutes of runtime at normal power. There is also a max power setting which will drain power much quicker. It took me about 45 minutes to complete the cleaning at normal power. But thanks to the power saving switch, which turns the power off every time you loosen you grip, I never ran out of power. Also the power remained strong and steady throughout. Maneuverability was outstanding. Cleanup was very simple and quick. The brush bar was easy to disassemble and clean, and the removal of the dust from the dust cup is ingenious. I also found that hair, which gets caught in the brush bar of my other vacuum, simply goes straight to the dust cup on the Dyson. So why did I only give it 4 stars? 1) About half way through I began to experience pain at the base of my thumb. Now I have small to medium size hands, but when I gripped the vacuum, the hard plastic at the top of the handle put constant pressure on the top of my hand. When I finished, there was a red circle at the base of my thumb and it was painful. This could easily be remedied with a soft material placed at the top of the inside of the grip. 2) The head unit was small enough to fit under my kitchen cabinets, but not under the front edges of most of my furniture. In comparison to my other vacuum, the Dyson was about 1/2" higher. Therefore, those areas required the crevice tool to clean. 3) In order to access the brush bar and clean the head unit, there are 2 locks that open by turning slotted pieces. Each slot is a different size. Surprisingly, this $400 vacuum does not provide you with a plastic tool for this purpose. Instead, make sure you have change on you, because one slot is about the size of a quarter and the other a dime or a penny. Come on Dyson, a 5 cent plastic tool would really help. Overall, the positives are many and the negatives can be overcome. The cost is expensive, but it seems to be a quality product. It cleaned very well, and if it lasts a long time, which I expect, then I think it is worth the price. I would definitely recommend it.
