||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I acquired this Dyson as an exchange, after our V6 Absolute stopped working after 1 year. I'm actually not happy with this model. First of all, it does not come with all the tools shown on the site. The most disappointing feature is the "max suction" mode... this only works 30% of the time I try to use it. I usually cannot get the Dyson to switch into this mode. It seems to be related to the amount of debris in the container. If there is small amount of hair in the container, the "max suction" shuts off and switches to the lower suction mode. Even after I empty the container, it's a hit-n-miss on getting it to kick into "max suction". It really is very frustrating. I do not recommend this model.

A loss of suction can be the result of an obstruction or the filter needs to be cleaned.

Absolutely fantastic upgrade

We currently have the version from 2013, and this is a fantastic upgrade to that version. Quieter, more power... and runs a bit longer. The Dyson cordless is absolutely simply put, the best cord-free vaccum out there... we love it, cleans everything easily. Stairs are a breeze... car seats... furniture... easy on ceiling fans. Its the Dustbuster on steroids. Charging dock is installed in just a few minutes and allows the unit to be easily stored on a wall, or even in a closet if you have a power outlet there. Haven't had a single problem (quality wise) in 4 years with the previous model, and don't expect to have any problems with this one either.

You can’t set it aside to move something, you have to lay it on the floor or lien it, which it always falls over on my hardwoods. Not to mention how expensive they are! I’ve just gotten a better cordless that sits up on its own, has a floor docking station, a light in the front so I can see the dirt and I feel work so much better..... I paid $90 for it!

With regard to battery life on our V7, your machine features two power modes, regular and MAX. Right out of the box, the machine will be set to MAX power, which provides a generous boost of suction power to tackle more stubborn messes or larger debris. In this mode, your run time will be up to 7 minutes. For everyday household vacuuming, regular power mode will provide sufficient suction, along with 20-30 minutes of run time, depending on the tool being used. I can confirm that our cordless machines do not lock into the upright position, in order to keep them standing on their own. I am very picky with vacuums and have owned many different ones from leading competitor brands. This vacuum is very light and also ergonomic. This makes for a successful portable vacuuming solution. The suction power is what you would expect from a Dyson and there are two different power settings. one will last up to 6 minutes and the other up to 20. Besides the portable tubes for easy suction, it has a floor/carpet attachment which also works nicely. The dirt canister is small, but as expected for a portable vacuum. Clean up is as easy as pushing a button to clear the canister. With a lithium battery, you can't go wrong. The suction power is there until the batter dies as there is no gradual loss of power as is the case with other batteries/vacuums. If you have cars and you'd like to clean them this is it! We own a minivan and have 3 kids and this vacuum saves the day. Need to get those pesty ceiling edges and corners? This is the one. Need to pick up a bug without smashing it or being afraid it'll crawl on you? Suck it up with this! In all honesty, I think this is the best portable (cordless) vacuum I've ever used. I'm very pleased!

It is impossible to talk to a human being (I'm an extremely tech savvy millenial who can navigate all these well). Get re-directed to a text robot service. - Text robot service "diagnoses" issue as poor battery (I have my doubts. How does it know the charger is working fine?). - Battery replacement scheduled, but will show up in 3 weeks. So, essentially after 3 months the vaccuum is unusable for 1 month. Avoid this product.

Not worth the money

Dyson customer service sent me a brand new motor luckily. Then I installed the new motor, and now it won't change and tells me to contact customer service again. For such an expensive and high quality vacuum, I expect more than having a brand new vacuum used for a total of 15 minutes become totally useless at this point in time. I guess I'll be contacting customer service again - buyer beware.

The Dyson V7 Motorhead features a direct-drive cleanerhead, with gentle carbon fiber bristles safe for any flooring type, but powerful enough to pick up debris from both bare floors and carpets. While the machine will offer less run time in MAX power mode, most households find standard power sufficient for everyday messes. When using your machine in MAX with the direct-drive Motorhead, run time will be approximately 7 minutes. Your machine will be in MAX power right out of the box. You may find that running your machine in this mode does make the battery feel warm. To prolong battery life, it would be recommended to allow the machine to cool down, before placing it back on the charger.

I have seen similar products that are designed very similarly and fail miserably, so that was my reference point with the V7. Out of the box, the V7 was light, solid, and easy to use. Setup was a breeze. Despite being made of plastic for the housing of the motorhead and beater bar, the tubing was aluminum and solid. PROS - Light weight - Easy setup - Quick Charge - Long Battery Life per charge - Easy to use attachment, and useful - Decent vacuum replacement for small jobs - Excellent option for stairs!! CONS - Not a whole home vacuum replacement - Small overall capacity - A bit messy with the dust when emptying the canister

Returned for no suction

Not sure if this is the norm as it came in a box with holes or punch marks and tape all over it. It looked like it had possibly been refurbished or used and returned before resold. I was looking forward to a Dyson strength dust buster but this had terrible suction not keeping with Dyson products at all.
