Customers often highlight the ease of use, lightweight design, and strong suction of the V7 Motorhead Cord-Free Stick Vacuum. Many appreciate its powerful performance and quiet operation, along with the convenient cordless feature. However, some users mention that the battery life could be improved, and the dustbin capacity is relatively small. A few also point out that the price point may be a consideration for some buyers.

Hello Diana, this is Kelly with Dyson. I'm sorry to hear that you've found the suction power and run time on your Dyson V7 Motorhead to be lacking, in your use. Our cordless models feature a run-time enhancing trigger, hygienic bin emptying, and a variety of tools and attachments to tackle varying cleaning tasks. With regard to battery life on our V7, your machine features two power modes, regular and MAX. Right out of the box, the machine will be set to MAX power, which provides a generous boost of suction power to tackle more stubborn messes or larger debris. In this mode, your run time will be up to 7 minutes. For everyday household vacuuming, regular power mode will provide sufficient suction, along with 20-30 minutes of run time, depending on the tool being used. We'd value the opportunity to assist you, to make sure your Dyson is working properly. Please feel free to contact us directly at [email protected]. We're keen on providing you with support and learning more about your experience.

      Best wishes,
      Kelly

Have been able to test this vacuum for the past 4 years and it still is such a great mid range vacuum. I have not had no issues and the battery has never drained fast. This vacuum is perfect and actually picks up very well even the cat hairs.

Worked great for the first few years, but now in 2023 running it on max suction it dies in 3 seconds and needs to be charged to full again, not very good for only 3 years of use, should last longer than that for the price.

I've learned with vacuums that you get what you pay for. And this Dyson is a pricey unit. And it is so much more than a dirt devil. At first glance and use, this Dyson product is a monster in size - compared to the featherweight products from Dirt Devil and the like, this thing is more than a handful. It is bulky. But I've learned that lightweight products are often cheaply made and last about a year. And while I cannot testify to the longevity of this Dyson product, I can say that everything about this product screams "quality". I first used this product as a replacement for a hand held battery powered Dirt Devil that I like (but loathe for its lack of battery life and its failures after a year). After getting used to the heft of the Dyson, I found it to be an amazing performer - it was fairly quiet and it never seemed to lack the oomph to pick up items - I used it to even vacuum my car - the heft was a factor here in ease of use but once I adapted to the bulk, the product never let me down in picking up things even the Dirt Devil couldn't (or wouldn't). Carefully read the instructions with the product on how to dump the collection of debris you have in the canister - took me several times to master because it is different and seems like overkill. It works and I adapted. I used the "beater bar" on some places that give my Bissell robot vacuum problems and once again the Dyson came through - wonderful machine to do touch up work. In the end, this is fairly expensive - but it does seem like it will last a long time - and it is highly effective in spot treatments of cleaning and in the hand-held mode replacing a Dirt Devil, it takes some getting used to - but it does better than I could have expected.

As with all Dyson products, the design aesthetic is very nice. I appreciate the colors not being vanilla as with other manufacturers. This is not a vacuum that I would do an entire house with, though. It's nicely weighted in your hand, it's not awkward or bulky. Using the trigger is an intuitive feature. I didn't find the suction to be that strong, though. It was good for picking up the stray crumbs, but I still prefer my floor vacuum for large jobs.

This is a great vacuum for cleaning up quick spills. I have 2 toddlers and 2 dogs in my household so this comes in very handy. I do not recommend for cleaning the entire house because of the 30 minute battery life and it just feels kind of awkward. This product does not replace your normal house vacuum. This is also great for cleaning the floors and mats in my cars. This is vacuum is a must have if you have young kids or vacuum your car on the regular.

    Overall Unimpressed with Dyson V7

Overall I am unimpressed, with Dyson V7 and the Company itself. The V7 is a small, and light product. The cordless feature appealed to me to help with quick cleanup especially in the car where getting the shop vac out can be a hassle. However after using the product I think the shop vac is easier. The good is, they aren't lying when they say the vac runs at full power until no charge. That is nice. From the beginning to the end you get full power. However if you use max suction it will be less then 30 and about 30 minutes when on the slower speed. Hope you get what you want vacuumed in that period because then it takes a few hours to recharge fully for use. If that was it, I'd be happy because a car can be done with that amount of charge, and the occasion mess pick up around the house again is within the charge amount. However I have noticed a few flaws in the device too. The finish had a paint chip missing showing low QA to allow that out, and if it wasn't QA it was in shipping. Though my box was fine, so I think that was bad QA. Additionally they in include a wall dock to hand the V7 on the wall with the attachments. This would have been handy if they included the screws and anchors like there documentation said. DON'T EXPECT THE SCREWS AND ANCHORS. After, talking with what Dyson, laughingly calls, 5-star service, all I got was after a run around. Yes the manual is wrong, and we aren't including the screws. With the support doing the minimum effort and not supporting there product, esp. to the tune for a buck worth of screws and anchors for the customer, I don't think I will ever support this company. Simple customer service, since they made the mistake in documentation, could have helped in getting me the screws. Additionally after using this device a few times, my large hands may not be designed for this. After using it for 20 minutes in testing around the house my thumb, where it meets my palm, the done at that point was rubbed raw. So if you have normal size man hands and expect to hold the device to the length of the charge be prepared for some discomfort after using. Because of the paint chip, poor customer service and the fact it doesn't fit my hands I can't support this product or recommend anyone else. The battery, while staying at power doesn't last long enough to be useful expect for some edge cases or quick clean up. Is uncomfortable to use and the lack of 5-star service all make Dyson a company I will avoid in the future. Esp. because of the customer service. I can over look the chip on the finish and thumb getting rubbed wrong, since it does vacuum well, but the poor customer service kills it. If there customer service actually provided service and the screws and anchors there documentation lists, I would have given it 4 stars with the caveats above as long as you understand the limited use for this. But because there customer service is anything but find a different company as this product does not shine over Dyson's lack of support.

Hi there, this is Krystal with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on the V7 Motorhead. I am sorry to hear of this unusual experience. Here at Dyson, we are committed to absolute customer satisfaction and if you received less than quality service, we want to make sure this is addressed.

As for the mounting hardware you mentioned, unfortunately, none of our cordless machines come with the mounting hardware due to the different wall types consumers may have. Therefore, having one set of mounting hardware may not work for everyone. We encourage those that are unsure of the type of screws to use, to check with their local hardware store for the proper screws for their wall type.

We ask that you contact us so that we can address the level of service you were provided along with checking on the chip on your machine. You can reach us at [email protected], include your name and contact information, and we will be glad to assist. We look forward to hearing from you.

Upon first inspection, the first thing that stood out to me about the Dyson V7 Motorhead is its seemingly cheap outer construction. The plastic used looks and feels to have the same quality commonly found in children's toys, and out of the box had marbling and contouring all over that seems suggestive of stress or perhaps heat damage; while this may not indicate compromised structural integrity, it does negatively affect the aesthetics of the V7. The charging station is not designed for stand-up use, but instead for mounting to a wall/door with screws. My other wireless/bagless vacuum cleaner (which I’ll call Herbert) docks upright with its charging station more quickly and easily than the V7 does with its station, all without any wall-mounting required, which I greatly prefer. The V7 also has a trigger which must be held in while vacuuming, which I found quite unfavorable compared to the thumb-accessible rocker on Herbert, which toggles both power and speed. Before using the V7 for the first time, I was already disappointed with it. Across carpet and linoleum surfaces, the combing of the brush roller attachment and suction of the engine on the V7 seemed on par for wireless vacuums. While managing to pick up plenty of hair and fine dust, the V7 still required two or three passes to pick up some spots of lint, hair/fur and other stubborn debris. However, when I took the V7 into my garage for testing, stray leaves ended up being its nemesis. Even a very small, dried and brittle leaf got stuck in the extension hose with the ‘max’ power setting used, requiring manual intervention; larger leaves would simply get stuck at the attachment end. The elbow joint on the brush roller attachment was stiff enough that upon picking up and letting down the V7, I often had to provide extra downward force for the bottom of the roller attachment to sit flush against the floor so that I could continue vacuuming. Emptying the bin is a cumbersome affair because of the way that the engine must first be pulled up from the bin to a certain point that triggers the release of a bottom hatch. Before the hatch can be closed, the engine must be pushed down into place again. This tends to release billows of dust from the pores outside/below the engine, which is not accounted for in the 'Emptying the clear bin' instructions provided in the product manual. The manual instructs to seal the waste bag tightly before performing these last two steps, resulting in a nasty surprise for first-time users following the instructions. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any safeguard against accidentally pulling the trigger during this emptying process, which is an event to be avoided. Even before emptying the bin for the first time, I noticed a significant amount of dust had collected around the wheels, elbow joint, and rear of the encasement of the roller attachment after just one quick run of the vacuum cleaner over carpet, suggesting that this attachment tends to kick up significant amounts of dust behind itself. To remove the filter from the motor housing--which is to be washed monthly--a small thin stick on the filter has to be pulled on. This stick has no flange or other implement to aid in maintaining purchase while pulling on it, making removal of the filter more difficult than it should be. While the V7 does an adequate job as a light, wireless vacuum cleaner, I find that I can do just as well with Herbert, which retails for less than half the price of the V7.

Hi there, this is Krystal with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on the Dyson V7. Rest assured, Dyson machines are made from polycarbonate ABS which is the same material used in riot shields and crash helmets. We subject them to 50,000 hours of testing and 550 individual tests. All of this to ensure they can withstand a lifetime's hard use.

    Solid but expensive cordless vacuum

The Dyson V7 Motorhead is an amazing vacuum cleaner. I’ve been using it for the past week in my single bedroom apartment which is roughly 1000 square feet. Being a rechargeable handheld style vacuum cleaner the limiting factor is the battery life which Dyson reports to be around 30 minutes for regular mode which is about what I got. High suction mode will give you considerably less, but I am able to cover the entirety of my apartment with it on high with charge to spare - about 8 minutes worth. On day one of running the Dyson it has picked up a disturbingly large amount of dust from my carpet (Yes!). This is in part due to the powered brush does a great job picking up fluff from one of my old shedding rugs and as a person with mild allergies it’s great to see all of that dust getting dumped in the bin at the end of my cleaning spree. When emptying the bin, be sure to have it lowered entire into the trashcan as the dirt bin hatch has a spring action which can sometimes sling dust. With the long arm removed, the V7 is great for quickly vacuuming out a vehicle. It might be a little large for tight spots. It’s charging cable is short and it doesn’t run with the charger plugged in (not surprisingly). It would be nice to have the option at least, even as an additional accessory and would make it more flexible for larger homes that require more cleaning time. Overall, it does a fine job cleaning and feels well made with metal and high quality plastics. If you can look past the high price, the V7 Motorhead is a fine choice for a small home/apartment and car.

If the price doesn't bother you then this a a great cordless vacuum! I only gave it 2 stars because the price seems unbalanced with the performance and battery life, not the best value or return on the investment. I feel the cost of the V7 is a high premium for the short battery life you get. This is a solid unit that performs very well at the maximum setting but the battery life for some uses falls way short. My Toyota Sequoia needed a vacuuming bad and the V7 lasted for about half the job then had to be charged; the battery also got pretty warm. For the money I think a canister Dyson model would have been more worth it. Or if you are on a budget then a different brand corded hand vacuum may be a better alternative.

I was extremely skeptical about purchasing this in the beginning and did not understood why people would pay so much for a vacuum. But while I was looking for a vacuum, they had an ongoing sale for Dyson vacuums. This vacuum is a must have in every house!!! I love how they pretty much thought of everything about this vacuum, you get different attachments, it’s cordless, and it’s very compact and lightweight. Makes cleaning the house a million times easier!!!

This vacuum has it's Pros & Cons for sure! I truly was expecting a lot more from this vacuum than I feel I have received from it (so far) I DO give it credit for being extremely convenient to just grab and clean a small mess very quickly! No hassle of cords or lugging around a heavy vacuum. Plus I really needed a cordless like this to reach my ceilings to vacuum all the pet hair, cobwebs etc... and it seems to be easy to complete these tasks. It did pick up cat litter from the floor also but I really don't feel it has the "Powerful Suction" that is claimed with Dyson. It will definitely serve me well though for the fact that I can just grab it and clean (small light jobs) very quickly, then dump the debris just as quick without touching the dirt and simply put it back into its wall mounted charger. I am very willing to try a corded Dyson very soon as I believe it will have major suction as they say they do but for this cordless,,,,, I have to say it's only good for convenience and seems way too expensive for what you get and although it looks nice and cool/modern, it seems cheaply made. The connections of the tube and accessories do Not have a good snug/tight fit to them and is maybe what the problem is for me?? I don't know. Maybe their next cordless model will be improved significantly! Like I said, I really expected a lot more out of this model

I love my Dyson, However, I can never finish even my lower level of my home with just one battery. I think if it came with two batteries it would help. I don't like the fact it takes 12 hours or better to charge and only get less than 30 minutes of use. I also own a Bissell Ex Pet. This holds a charge for the entire home, is quiet but it does not have the suction power of my Dyson but it is still very good. It does do a very good job considering it is only $89.00 vs. Dyson is $299.00 My Dyson is perfect if you just need to pull it out for a quick cleaning. If I had to choose one over the other, I would have to say my Bissell over all does better just due to the length of charge I get, as well as knowing I will finish my cleaning without having to switch vac mid cleaning.

The vacuum is very versatile, which is great. We use it on our stairs and throughout the house. The main inconvenience is that there is no function to leave the vacuum on while you are using it other than to continue pulling the trigger. And there is nothing to cushion your hands, so I actually got a blister on the top of my thumb where it was rubbing while vacuuming. Is still there/healing 2+ weeks later.
