Great For New Dyson buyers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The V8 is fantastic cordless vac with tons of power, long battery life, surprisingly quiet, and easy to clean/use but it may not be that beneficial of an upgrade for existing Dyson V6 owners (like me). I gave it 4 starts versus 5 because of its main drawback. All the attachments that current Dyson owners already have ARE NOT compatible. I spent a TON of money on them and now they're unusable. I'm hoping that Dyson addresses this and creates an adapter. The V8 is also a bit heavier than the V6 but that shouldn't be an issue.

It is now November 2018 and the battery on the thing only lasts two minutes. I plug it back in the charger and the lights on it flash like its about half way charged, but does not work. I have to let it charge for an hour or two so that I can get a couple more minutes out of it. This was sudden also... just seemed like one day, the other day, it started doing that. It was not a gradual build up to the battery lasting two minutes.

The V8 is advertised to get 7 minutes in MAX mode for tougher jobs. 25 minutes in standard mode with the motorized cleaner head attached and 30 minutes with the soft roller cleaner head or mini motorized tool attached. 40 minutes for any other tool.

The length of time it would vacuum kept going down from 3 minute on single charge to 1 minute. I called dyson and they replaced battery. Again after 19 days, some problem and even worse this time. The battery would run and then would stop..run and stop and then completely dead..I would burn it if I could. I had good six months life out of it and I paid $600 for it. Unbelievable!! Not the reputation of the Dyson.

Worked well but only lasted only 15 months

It worked fine for a couple of months. Suction is horrible and today it stopped working. Such a waste of money. I recommend buying something cheaper because it will be trash in a year anyways.

Thank you for your review on your Dyson V8 Absolute. You are right to note that Dyson states up to 40 minutes of fade-free suction on the V8 line. It is important to note that in order to achieve 40 minutes of continuous use, the machine must used on standard power mode and combined with a non-motorized attachment such as the Soft Dusting Brush.
When coupled with a motorized floor tool, the machine is able to achieve up to 25 minutes of continuous fade-free suction on the standard power mode. This has been improved from our V6 model which featured up to 16 minutes with a motorized attachment.

Waste of money

Called dyson and they said it was a common problem. They send me a new battery. When i received it , they send me the wrong battery. Had to wait another week for a new one to be sent. I should have bought a shark.

Also having to hold the power button on the whole time you’re vacuuming is very tiring and inconvenient. Returned the vacuum.

The Dyson range of cordless vacuum cleaners has a battery-enhancing trigger. Battery power is only on when the trigger is pushed – this means that the battery is only used for cleaning, and is not wasted when moving from room to room, or moving around obstacles.

A little disappointed

No I'll part in Best Buy but the manufacturer of the product. Vince from the Carmel Mountain (San Diego) store helped with a painless refund. Best Buy = Great customer service.

Not worth the spend

We could not use it except on high suction power and even then it does not hold a candle to our 10 year old Dyson ball. The thing then died about a year later... In short not worth the spend

Battery will not last!

Redefining Clean
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After getting over the initial shock of the price I was excited to use the new Dyson v8. I researched all different models not only Dyson but other companies. I was not disappointed when I got this in full action at home. First of all, this comes with several attachments, the soft head of hard floors , another for carpets , and 3 others for corners and other things. I was surprised at the weight as it is very light weight but after using it for 15 min your hand will feel cramped. You also have to use the trigger to keep it but I realized I didn't have to hold it all the way back. I have cleaned everything in my house and amazed at the amount that was picked up. I can't say enough good things about it. The max option is so strong that it literally takes two hands to pull it on the carpet. The only con in my book was the price.
