This comment is for Dyson... make the battery replaceable. The vacuum works AWESOME for 20 minutes but what if I need it for 30??? Just make the batteries replaceable... just like EVERY OTHER CORDLESS tool... then I'd give you 6 stars.

As advertised, the V8 does feature 7 minutes in MAX mode for tougher jobs. 25 minutes in standard mode with the motorized cleaner head attached and 30 minutes with the soft roller cleanerhead or mini motorized tool attached. 40 minutes for any other tool. not worth the price for a short life charge

I hardly ever used it once a week in the kitchen maybe. Won't hold up to extended use. Another thing is that my finger got tired of holding the trigger (power) button during use. Very disappointed considering this brand costs more than the others.

We own a Dyson that we purchased several years ago; great vacuum so we thought we would pick-up the cordless based on the performance of the stand-up we own. We got the system home, charged as directed, then tried to simply vacuum a kitchen and living room. The first issue was that there is no ON/OFF button only a trigger. My wife's whole arm ached for several days (strike 1) having to hold down that stupid trigger. We then tried to use one of our attachments and none / none of the attachments that came and the ones we bought afterwards would fit the new Dyson... (strike 2) For over $600 dollars for a vacuum we should be able to swap attachments within the same "Family of Systems" (strike 3). We returned it

Our cordless and handheld vacuums are designed with the power trigger. This trigger is easily engaged by the grip of your hand. Also, the battery run time is only used when the power trigger is engaged, which is a great feature to ensure you are only using the battery when actually cleaning. Although most all of our tools are interchangeable among different model types, the V8 cordless vacuums have newly redesigned tools. This would explain why the previous model attachments were not compatible. Although you chose to return the V8 Absolute, we would like to learn more of your experience. Battery Problems
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.While this is a decent vacuum, like pretty much all Dyson products I've owned, the life expectancy is less than three years. I have a problem when you spend (initially) $500 on a home appliance, and a little over two years later you are on the hook for a $150 replacement battery. I am always happy to spend a little extra for a premium product, but I expect value in return. We have a central vacuum system, so it is not as if this Dyson was over used. Paying a premium to sustain a premium but outdated product feel a lot like spending good money after bad.

Terrible Vacuum

Upon researching this I discovered it is a common problem. Terrible design for a costly product. No other vacuum I have used has given me electric shocks. The instructions are also poor - it consists of pictures with little wording. This is the worst vacuum I've owned.

Also, please rest assured, Dyson machines are made from polycarbonate ABS which is the same material used in riot shields and crash helmets. We subject them to 50,000 hours of testing and 550 individual tests. All of this to ensure they can withstand a lifetime's hard use.

Battery usless after a year

I now have it just collecting dust in my closet. I also bought dyson upright model, the piece of plastic that holds the thing up broke after a month, now I have to always put it against the wall so it won't fall.

Battery Life is terrible

Thanks for your review. We're thrilled to hear you are enjoying the performance of your V8 Absolute. It is important to note that our cordless machines have 2 different settings: Regular mode that will give the vacuum 25-40 minutes of run time and MAX mode that will double suction power, but reduce run time to about 7 minutes. All cordless machines are set to MAX mode right out of the box. This can be engaged and disengaged by utilizing the switch near the top of the cyclone.
