However, I find the trash emptying arrangement to be annoying and clunky. Further, this vacuum doesn’t stand on its own. For example, if you want to stop vacuuming to answer phone call or doorbell, you cannot leave the vacuum to stand on its own. Again, these are personal preferences. As a vacuum, it works well.

Posted .Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. I'm sorry to hear that you've encountered a short run time with your Dyson V8 Animal. Your vacuum will come with standard and Max power modes. Our cordless models also have a run-time enhancing light touch trigger which ensures battery power is only used when the trigger is pushed. The total run time will be up to 40 minutes.
In Max power run time will be up to 7 minutes, and in standard power, you can expect run times of up to 30-40 minutes depending on which tool or attachments you are using. Having a shorter run time does sound unusual, and we'd value the opportunity to go over your machine with you.

I had to keep pressing and releasing the power button to get it to go again and then it would stop again. Initially, I thought it was the surface, but I tried it on every different type of flooring and it repeated the same issue.

Yes it is on the pricier side but the amount of hair it grabs is insane ! I have a husky , a poodle and 2 cats so that’s lots of hair !! My only con is that it doesn’t have a lock option so you have to keep holding the trigger to vacuum.
