My old Shark vacuum actually picks up more dirt and hair left on the area rugs. To my dismay the wife will end up keeping it because it's really light.

It’s small and can fit under the beds perfectly. I love it!

But battery died within 15 mins when using the max option while I had to charge 5 hours.

I'm happy to hear that in your use thus far, you've been so pleased with how flexible and easy to use the Dyson V8 Animal Cord-Free vacuum is. We speak to our owners frequently and they tell us that cordless vacuums have changed the way they clean. We hear they clean more often, but in shorter bursts, spending less than 20 minutes per clean. Dyson V8 Animal features two suction modes; MAX and standard. Please keep in mind that the V8 offers plenty of suction on normal power to effectively clean your floors because of the motorized brush bar. MAX power is really only needed for tough cleaning jobs. Also, while many do use Dyson cordless machines as their main vacuum at home, if you prefer a longer run time, we’d recommend one of our compact uprights or canister models.
