Max is for spot cleaning only and will provide a 5-10 minute runtime, High Suction will provide UP TO 40 minutes depending on the tool being used. Battery life isn’t that great, no trigger lock for continuous power on, have to hold trigger while using. Too pricey for what you get!

Posted .Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. Your Dyson V8™ cordless offers two powerful suction modes - regular and MAX. MAX provides a boost of suction for larger debris or more stubborn messes. This mode should not be utilized for your everyday cleaning, as it will only give you about 7 minutes of run time. Regular suction is generally suitable for every household, and gives up to 40 minutes of run time (30 when using a motorized tool). Posted .Hello Vivenne, this is Kelly with Dyson. Your Dyson V8 Animal will come with standard and Max power modes. Our cordless models also have a run-time enhancing light touch trigger which ensures battery power is only used when the trigger is pushed. In Max power run time will be up to 7 minutes, and in standard power, you can expect run times of up to 30-40 minutes depending on which tool or attachments you are using. Having a shorter run time does sound unusual, and we'd value the opportunity to go over your machine with you.
One thing we do recommend to help ensure longevity out of your battery will be ensuring that your machine is not plugged in to charge directly after use, as charging the battery while still warm can ultimately result in damage to the battery over time. Posted .Hi there, this is Krystal with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on the Dyson V8 Animal. The V8 is advertised to get 7 minutes in MAX mode for tougher jobs. 25 minutes in standard mode with the motorized cleaner head attached and 30 minutes with the soft roller cleaner head or mini motorized tool attached. 40 minutes for any other tool.
