    Broke almost immediately. You have to hold button down whole time your vacuuming. No sure why every raves about this brand.

    Making loud noise on first two uses

    I really want to like this vacuum cleaner. It could be the answer to my dreams. But the two times I’ve used it, it’s made a loud screeching sound when I move it in a certain direction. Like it needs to be oiled. I sent an email to Best Buy to report this, but no response. With COVID-19, I can’t just show up at the store. Especially when it’s been looted. I’m most angry with the lack of response from Best Buy. I’d like to try the same vacuum model.

    Battery dies within 5 ‘minutes

    Its a really good vacumm when it comes to the succking, however the battery dies within the first 5 minutes.

MAX provides a boost of suction for larger debris or more stubborn messes. This mode should not be utilized for your everyday cleaning, as it will only give you about 7 minutes of run time. Regular suction is generally suitable for every household, and gives up to 40 minutes of run time (30 when using a motorized tool).     Not impressed! Don’t waste your time or money!

    I used it twice. It does not hold a charge for more than 20 minutes. I’d rather get out my shark vacuum attach the hose and plug it in than use this cordless vacuum. When I mention that I’ve only used it twice, that’s because it will no longer hold a charge at all. Starts up for literally 2 seconds and dies. I’ve attempted to get it to charge a million times over and it simply will not. So disappointed in this vacuum; especially, considering what we paid for it.

      Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. Your Dyson V8 Animal will come with standard and Max power modes. Our cordless models also have a run-time enhancing light touch trigger which ensures battery power is only used when the trigger is pushed. The total run time will be up to 40 minutes. In Max power run time will be up to 7 minutes, and in standard power, you can expect run times of up to 30-40 minutes depending on which tool or attachments you are using.

    Outstanding vacuum for a cordless

    I have another Dyson, one of the big ball ones and this cordless vacuum actually compares very well to the big one. Granted, we don't have pets, so we're not dealing with pet hair issues. But, regardless, this cordless Dyson can *almost* give the big Dyson a run for it's money. The only thing that limits it is the 40 minute or so run time. The ability to convert it to a handheld (like a "dust buster") is an added benefit that I don't think people appreciate enough. The easy bin emptying procedure is also a plus in my opinion. If you're in a smaller house or apartment, then this may be the only vacuum you need. If your setup is larger, then this would be the ideal secondary vacuum/"dust buster," although it is quite expensive.

    Did not like it thinking of returning it. every time I use it I have to be cleaning it doesn’t seem to work right it keeps on going on and off. I have done everything it says to do I clean it all the time and wash the filters but it still does the same on and off

    One of the most versatile vacuums I've ever owned. This thing is light weight and very powerful. Was super easy to mount and setup for use. I have in one day vacuumed all of my carpeted rooms and then my hardwood flooring. After putting it back on the charger for a few hours, not that I needed to at the time, it was time for round two. With 5 attachments to choose from and an extension tube, I chose the small powered head and the angled wand. I then headed outside to my vehicle where I commenced to vacuuming out the piles of dirt from the winter months with kids climbing in and out. The Dyson v8 animal made quick and easy work on this task. I would definitely recommend this vacuum. I truly enjoy this little animal.

Right out of the box, the machine is going to be set to MAX. This mode provides a boost of suction making it ideal for larger messes or more stubborn debris. This mode does give less run time - about 7 minutes or so. Regular power, which should be sufficient for everyday cleaning, will give you up to 30-40 minutes of run time, depending on if you're using the motorized floor tool.

    This one, of all the Dysons I have owned, had the least amount of suction...I had to swipe it several times over the pet hair to get it clean...

    Plan to replace every few years.

    Battery failure after 6 month. At least the manufacturer warranty was still good, but plan on replacing this every 2 years, and the battery is almost as expensive as a brand new unit. This is a widespread issue.

    Got one full charge out of it before it wouldn't charge again. Emailed dyson with no response after 4 business days. Looked up online what the issue could be and by the charging indicator it was a "replacement part only repair". Decided to return it instead since Dyson failed to respond.

    Ran one day then pulses, called Dyson this seems to be a problem with this model. They sent parts that were suppose to fix it but it did not they said that they could send me a new one in 4 weeks. Will return and I would not recommend this model at all

    Would not recommend buying this vacuum or any vacuum from Best Buy. They sell defective items. The vacuum’s battery didn’t even last 8 months before dying out. It’s a expensive $400 piece of junk.

    My Dyson lasted exactly 2 years and 1 month (one month outside my warranty). The battery won’t hold a charge, the vacuum is so heavy I haven’t found a screw and wall that holds it very long, and the vacuum head scratched the floor after about a year because the felt pads wore off right away. I would never buy one again

This is completely normal and occurs with any device that uses this type of battery. Battery degradation is not a fault of the machine. It happens to all batteries in everyday items, such as mobile phones and laptops. Unfortunately, we are unable to advise how long each component will last in each individual's home. Having said that, we would generally expect the life of the battery to outlast the free 2-year guarantee provided with your machine, when purchased from a Dyson-authorized retailer.     It’s not in good quality. I bought 2 before this but they all don’t work for some reason. So when you buy a new dysen, always buy a protection plan.
