Posted .Hello Angelo, This is Amanda from Dyson. It sounds like your machine may be in MAX/Boost mode. To ensure you're able to receive the full run time your machine can provide, we'd recommend switching off of the MAX suction mode. Hope this helps! Amanda Dyson Customer Support

Posted .Hello there, this is Kelly with Dyson. The Dyson V8 Animal also features two suction modes; MAX and standard. Please keep in mind that the V8 offers plenty of suction on normal power to effectively clean your floors because of the motorized brush bar. MAX power is really only needed for tough cleaning jobs. In Max power run time will be up to 7 minutes, and in standard power, you can expect run times of up to 30-40 minutes depending on which tool or attachments you are using. We would value the opportunity to assist with your machine, to help ensure your Dyson is working properly. Please feel free to contact us directly at [email protected].

Light and convenient but has its flaws
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In my opinion, Dyson has become known as the end all be all in vacuums. I'm not claiming they're the best, I just mean it in the sense if I ask my mom, she's convinced they are. Much like how Bose became the audio quality standard for noise cancelling headphones. They're also like status symbols; the commercial shows a woman pulling her handheld Dyson off the wall in her kitchen as if it were a fashion statement or piece of art on the wall. I've never owned a Dyson and was excited to give this one a try. I like the idea of having a cordless vacuum that's light with a lot of power. And while this vacuum meets those standards, it's flaws (along with it's steep price) keep it from being the best stick vacuum. Putting it together was easy, the instruction manual includes lots of pictures to help explain how to put it together, maintenance, etc.Note that you do have to charge it 5 hours before using it. The dock is optional, but I wouldn't want to plug it in manually each and every time I charge it. So that means I'd use the wall mounted dock, which leads me to my first gripe: location. Unlike the aforementioned commercial, I don't want the Dyson attached to a wall in my house for all to see. I have a small house and didn't have an option of putting in a closet, so it's in my garage. It's not a huge problem for me, but I would take into account the fact that you'll almost "need" to mount this on the wall before you purchase it. And the power cable isn't very long, so it will need to be right next to an outlet or you'll have to find a work around. The docking station leads me to my next gripe: location for the attachments. This vacuum comes with a long extension tube (to use upright) a large motorized attachment brush, a small motorized attachment brush (for when you aren't using the long extension tube), skinny angled attachment (for corners) and two other brushes. The dock holds two attachments and the vacuum would have another attached to it (I keep the large motorized brush on it). But it comes with 5 attachments. So now I have to keep track of 2 attachments that don't attach to the dock. What am I supposed to do with them? This vacuum is too expensive not to have a docking station that can accommodate all of the attachments. In regards to performance, it is pretty good. The battery lasts 40 minutes according to the box, but that's with he motorized brush. Without the motorized brush it lasts 25 minutes. If you were to put it in "max" mode it would last 7 minutes. I don't use Max mode because honestly, I couldn't tell the difference. I have hardwood floors with some area rugs and two cats. The Dyson did a fantastic job picking up hair etc on the hardwood floor and couches, but it was absolutely horrendous on the rugs. The motorized brush would just stop working. The only workaround I came up with was to get the brush spinning in the air and take a running start with the vacuum on the carpet and hope it keeps spinning. I also don't like that there's no option to keep the trigger pulled. It's really easy to maneuver the vacuum but I hate holding the trigger for an expended period of time, why couldn't there be a switch that kept the trigger "activated?" All in all, it's a good vacuum. But it's tough to recommend for the price. On the one hand, I love being able to use a powerful vacuum without cords, and is super easy to maneuver. But it's performance on carpet leaves much to be desired. It also bugs the heck out of me that not all of the accessories fit on the dock. If owning a "Dyson" means a lot to you and you can afford it, this is a great vacuum, but you could find cheaper alternatives with similar performance (more bang for your buck).

Posted .Hi there, this is Krystal with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on the V8 Animal. I am pleased to hear that you are enjoying some of its great features. Being a cordless vacuum, it is great for in between cleanings and quick clean ups.
The docking station was designed to hold the machine along with 2 tool attachments. Unfortunately, with a number of additional tool options you can get, it wouldn't be ideal to have them all attached to the mount as that may, in turn, make it too heavy for mounting. Alternatives are available, such as a Dyson Tool Bag for storing extra parts/accessories.
The cordless vacuum cleaners have a battery-enhancing trigger. Battery power is only on when the trigger is pushed – this means that the battery is only used for cleaning, and is not wasted when moving from room to room, or moving around obstacles.

Different but pretty nice
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have a dyson ball pet vacuum and really like it but it's very big so it's kind of an actual "chore" to use. If we need to vacuum something up quickly, it's kind of a pain. I remember the days of the old "Dust Busters" when cordless vacuuming was absolute garbage. After the hesitation, I'm really happy with this one. It's quite small and mounting the charger was really easy. The mount is pretty versatile. You can hang the vacuum, long extension and one of the attachments from the actual charging part. Underneath, there's room to connect 2 other attachments for storage. I would have liked to see something (even just a mesh bag or something) to store the remaining attachments but it's not that big of a deal. Using it as an actual upright vacuum is comfortable but kind of weird to get used to. You have to hold the trigger button while you vacuum so it feels a little unnatural. The trigger is very light and easy to press, so it's not difficult to hold and I'm sure, after some time, I'll get more used to it and it will feel more comfortable in my hand. I used the longer lasting, "40 minutes per charge" setting and felt like the suction was plenty for whatever I'd really need a quick, cordless vacuum for. I don't imagine a scenario where I'll ever NEED the super max deluxe setting. My favorite thing to do was all of the edges where the carpet meets the molding. I rarely do this with our normal upright vacuum because it's annoying to lug the huge thing behind and the bulky hose just doesn't make it a very comfortable thing to do, so I just don't. With this one, I just plugged in the thin attachment to the long extension and was able to suck up all the loose kitty litter that's been tracked into those corners over a long time. Emptying the container is pretty easy, now. It took a couple of tries because I didn't know how it was going to work. There's a big caution type of sticker around the container that shows you how to do it but I didn't really know HOW it was going to work. So the first time I lifted the lever and the top "filter" started to raise up, it gets a little stuck so you have to pull harder. I pulled harder and the bottom just unhinges and I dumped kitty litter all over the floor. Good thing I had a vacuum in my hand. My next attempt, I did over the garbage can but I was still unsure about what released the bottom so after I pulled the filter up a little bit, I to push it back in before the bottom had dropped out. This does not work. The filter WILL NOT push back in until the bottom door has opened. It's not hard to empty once you understand how it works. Just pull the "lever" it tells you to pull and keep pulling until the filter section comes all the way up and the bottom drops out. All in all, I can definitely see myself getting a lot of use out of this vacuum. Probably a lot more than the full upright just based on how easy it is to pick up and get a quick job done. I'd recommend it.

works well, like most Dyson Products
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned a few Dyson Products in the past, and they all do as they promise, and this one is no exception. Easy to assemble, easy to figure out, this is a powerful, cordless vacuum, and it delivers as promised. The battery life isnt that long, so you cant do your entire house on one charge if you have a large house, but it is perfect for smaller houses, stairs, spider webs on the ceilings, and for quick pick ups and use in your car. Its only shortcomings are no storage method, either bag or carrier for a couple of the extra attachments that come with it, but most people will figure out how to store them and keep them handy, and the fact it takes several hours to charge when completely discharged. If you are looking for a powerful, cordless, all purpose vacuum, you should definitely consider this one!

Posted .Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. I'm sorry to hear that you've encountered a short run time with your Dyson V8 Animal. Your vacuum will come with standard and Max power modes. Our cordless models also have a run-time enhancing light touch trigger which ensures battery power is only used when the trigger is pushed. The total run time will be up to 40 minutes.
In Max power run time will be up to 7 minutes, and in standard power, you can expect run times of up to 30-40 minutes depending on which tool or attachments you are using. Having a shorter run time does sound unusual, and we'd value the opportunity to go over your machine with you. Please feel free to reach out to us directly at [email protected]. We are keen on providing support.

Posted .Hi, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that you've found the suction the V8 Animal provides is subpar. The Dyson V8 Animal cordless vacuum cleaner has a run-time enhancing trigger. Battery power is only used when the trigger is pushed – it is not wasted when moving from room to room, or moving around obstacles. All of our cordless units do come switched on to MAX mode out of the box, otherwise, when not set to MAX mode, a full charge gives 40 minutes of fade free power or 30 minutes when using the motorized floor tool.
When using your machine in MAX with the direct-drive Motorhead, run time will be approximately 7 minutes. Dyson Animal variants come equipped with a mini motorized head which is designed to pick up pet hair from furniture and stairs. You can also use this tool with the machine in MAX power for optimum pick-up, if you find that standard power is leaving pet hair behind.
We'd value the opportunity to assist you, to make sure your Dyson is working properly. Please feel free to contact us directly at askdysonus@dyson.com. We're keen on providing you with support and learning more about your experience.

Awesome smaller vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Dyson is a nice, small, compact vacuum that does the job. The suction is more powerful than the first iteration of the Animal and does a great job. This vacuum comes with plenty of attachments that are very easy to take off and put on. This vacuum is more for a quick clean up and the battery only lasts about 40 minutes. Even after using this on a rug that we had just vacuumed, it picked up more hair and dirt than our normal vacuum, so the suction is very powerful.

Amazing and Portable!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am so glad to have received the Dyson V8 Animal from Best Buy. There simply isn't any great competitors out there for the type of portability and suction. This unit is small, powerful, and with a wide variety of attachments for floor cleaning and I especially use it to clean my car and garage. At the end of the day, this baby saved me a lot of time and hassle. Being cordless with the amount of power is simply amazing.

Lightweight and Powerful
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a current Dyson owner, this is a very good product. Easy to set up and works like a charm. Suction power is very good compared to the last model. Useage time could bear to be better but overall it works great. If you have the last model the attachments are not interchangeable. 2 year full warranty is also very helpful.

Improvement from V6 Animal Vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Dyson V8 is definitely the absolute vacuum for pet owners. Battery life is doubled from the previous V6, going from merely 20 minutes to 40 minutes. However, with power comes greater weight as well. The V6 came in just under 5 lbs, and V8 is at 5.6 lbs. It's still light enough to use to clean cobweb on the ceiling or cheerios in our minivan. We're very happy with the strong suction. The only con is the price, but you're getting a performance machine. So it's a good trade off.

It just keeps on going!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vacuum is an amazing product!! Let me first say that my life has been transformed going to a cordless vacuum. I didn't realize how much time was wasted flopping a cord around, and moving it from outlet to outlet. I normally wouldn't wall mount something like this, but I took the plunge and screwed it in because I have been so impressed. The vacuum is lighter than I expected, and has enough battery for me to do multiple rooms on three floors. I have a mix of tile, hardwood, and carpet, and it works well on all of them. I even did two staircases at the max suction setting. I think the only function this product is missing would be a good deep carpet clean. If you have a lot of carpet, I would recommend still having a corded full size vacuum for occasional deep cleans. This little guy does a great job, but I don't feel it really gets into the carpet. Don't get me wrong, it picks up the dirt and makes great carpet lines, but I don't think this product was really designed for full out carpet cleaning. That being said, the ease of use and amount of battery life makes this a very, very, very versatile vacuum. In addition being so amazing, it also looks really cool.
