Customers are saying

Customers recognize the product for its impressive suction power, fantastic ease of use, and lightweight, cordless design, which contribute to its great overall performance. They also appreciate the convenience of its cordless feature and various attachments. However, a significant concern for many is the battery life, which customers feel could be improved. Other noted drawbacks include its high price, noise level, small dustbin, and less effective performance on carpeting.

Just recently adopted an Australian Shepard and the amount of dog hair found all around the house was insane. Sweeping and the little robot vacuums never stood a chance till I bought this fusing vacuum. It’s a easy clean now everytime and is even handy when vacuuming couches and dog beds. A must buy for pet owners who deal with excessive amount of hair

Good Vacuum Battery Not so Much

In terms of the vacuum portion it does what it says it does has very good suction picked up just as much as our old Dyson. However the battery life is not so good. If you’re looking for something to clean a small apartment maybe this would be the vacuum for you however for those of you that have houses with multiple rooms you may want to consider something else. This vacuums battery life is roughly 10 maybe 15 minutes at the most and required charging between rooms. Now I don’t have a very large house maybe 15 to 1700 ft.² roughly . And after doing our living room and maybe a quarter of another bedroom this unit would die and require re-charge. If you’re looking for something to do a smaller home or maybe a condo or apartment this might be for you the quality of the product and how it acts as a vacuum cleaner is not bad but not so much the battery life.

Hello there, this is Kelly with Dyson. Thank you for sharing your review of the Dyson V8 Animal Cord-free. I'm happy to hear that you've been pleased with the suction power from your vacuum. The Dyson V8 Animal cordless vacuum cleaner has a run-time enhancing trigger. Battery power is only used when the trigger is pushed – it is not wasted when moving from room to room, or moving around obstacles. All of our cordless units do come switched on to MAX mode out of the box. In Max power run time will be up to 7 minutes, and in standard power, you can expect run times of up to 30-40 minutes depending on which tool or attachments you are using.

We'd value the opportunity to assist you, to make sure your Dyson is working properly. Please feel free to contact us directly at askdysonus@dyson.com. We're keen on providing you with support and learning more about your experience.

      Best wishes,
      Kelly

Wish I didn't wait so long to switch to bagless and cordless. I'll never go back. The ease and convenience and freedom of cordless is amazing. The charge lasts long enough to cover my 3 bedroom house if I keep moving, but if I want to also dust with it, I may do that on a separate day/charge. The way the attachments click together is easy and downright fun. I no longer have to put cotton in my ears when I vacuum - this Dyson runs quiet enough to even hear the tv over it. I love emptying the dust bin rather than keeping it in a bag in my house which used to always smell when I vacuumed (even when the bag wasn't full). I have a labrador who sheds a lot and this vacuum picks up dust and hair I never knew I had. I can use the small attachments to dust shelves, lampshades, ceiling fan blades, etc. with an ease I never had before. I am petite with weak hands and have no trouble holding it. I love the placement of the on/off button on the handle as it is so easy to stop and start when you need to. It doesn't eat cords or shoe laces that might get in the way. This Dyson actually makes housework fun . I highly recommend it!

We like the light, versatility, and efficiency of this vacuum. It's great to have as a second light duty option. Performs and cleans well. The cons are price and length of battery life.

Not happy at all with product after purchase. The battery charged last maybe enough time to do 1 1/2 to 2 rooms per charge (depending how fast I clean the rooms). One would imagine that, after paying so much for the product, the battery charge would last much longer. It cleans exceptionally well though. I would have returned the product after purchase, but I didn’t use immediately. When I finally use the product and realized that the battery charge was no good, it was past the “return period”.

Hello Amanda, This is Amanda from Dyson. It sounds like your machine may be in MAX/Boost mode. To ensure you're able to receive the full run time your machine can provide, we'd recommend switching off of the MAX suction mode. If this is not the case, please send an email to questions.us@dyson.com with your serial number and we'd be happy to help! Best Wishes, Amanda Dyson Customer Support Dyson-EN_US

Picked this up while on sale over the holidays for my older mother that lives in a smaller apartment. This thing is a beast. Charges quick, plenty of power, attachments, and light enough to use every day. The effectiveness of this thing cannot be stressed enough, it really pulls up the dirt and dust in carpet.

I purchased this for my wife for Christmas, a few months ago. She wanted something lightweight for quick cleans on small messes. This is perfect for our hardwood floors and can quickly be changed with attachments to clean the carpet on our stairs. It is also extremely easy to clean/empty. The only drawback I have found is that it sometimes has trouble while being used on area rugs. It is not a huge deal; just more of an inconvenience.

Bought this unit on sale for $300. Upon opening the box, yes everything is pretty user friendly and straightforward and easy to use. But the build quality doesn't seem the best for the price you pay. A lot of the plastics are somewhat flimsy, easily bendable, and feel like they will eventually snap, the charging adapter came with a crack in the housing right out of the box. When you initially run the vacuum and hold your hand up to the tip to feel the suction, it's not all that impressive compared to my $89 18 volt Makita Stick Vacuum I got from home depot. Yes, it is much more quiet and the dust cyclone feature stops the filters from getting clogged up prematurely, it's easy to empty. Watch out when vacuuming on smaller or high pile rugs, the bristle head will suck up the edges of a thin rug and get jammed in the machine. But for flat large rugs/carpet, it did work pretty good for what seemed like a small amount of suction. I got a lot of dirt out of a rug I thought was clean. When you are vacuuming on a thicker higher pile rug, you pretty much have to run it on max mode (that's if you can without the machine stopping). The motor and battery quickly heats up when you use max mode. Overall, it's more convenient than my old plug in hoover vacuum but I would have never paid full price for this unit. Good for condos or smaller homes with low pile carpet. If you have hard floors, I don't really see the use of this compared to a broom and dustpan or swifter.
