I guess I bought the name-not the product. It does pick up anything larger than a sunflower seed and I have to sweep before using. On max suction-I can only get through one flight of stairs before it dies and have to wait 5 hours for it to recharge. bATTERY LASTS BARELY 7 MINUTES.

Posted .Hello Valeria, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that you've found the suction, run time and performance of your V8 Animal to be so disappointing thus far. The Dyson V8 Animal cordless vacuum cleaner has a run-time enhancing trigger. Battery power is only used when the trigger is pushed – it is not wasted when moving from room to room, or moving around obstacles. All of our cordless units do come switched on to MAX mode out of the box, otherwise, when not set to MAX mode, a full charge gives 40 minutes of fade free power or 30 minutes when using the motorized floor tool.
When using your machine in MAX with the direct-drive Motorhead, run time will be approximately 7 minutes. Dyson Animal variants come equipped with a mini motorized head which is designed to pick up pet hair from furniture and stairs. You can also use this tool with the machine in MAX power for optimum pick-up, if you find that standard power is leaving pet hair behind.

The battery life is terrible, as all reviews reported, but thankfully my home is small. Just makes it aggravating if I forget to charge it after each and every use. Update: after 6 months of use the vacuum has stopped working all together. It powers on like it’s dying, but it’s clean and has a full battery. Feel like i waited $400. So very very bummed about this purchase. :(

Posted .Hello Amorgan, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're glad to hear that thus far in your use, you were impressed with the suction from your V8 Animal. Your machine will also have two suction modes, MAX and regular. MAX provides a boost of suction power for larger debris or more stubborn messes. This mode will shorten run time to about 7 minutes, since it does draw so much power from the battery. When using regular suction mode, you can expect 30-40 minutes of run time.

Under normal suction battery lasts longer but does not suck up the animal hair. Purchased this in November of 2017, It is Aug 2018 now and it doesnt even work. Have to take it in to get servced, so time out of my busy day, time away from my life, time away from work to get a product less than a year old repaired. for this amount of money? NO THANKS Lasy Dyson I will own.

While in standard mode, you should have enough suction for basic level cleaning. A loss of suction can be the result of an obstruction or the filter needs cleaning.
