    Overall, I've been happy with the Dyson V8, but beware that the battery does not last. I've had it for about 2years and have barely, barely used it, but the battery no longer holds power. It still charges, but once it's done charging, it only holds enough power to last for <1 min -- which doesn't leave you time to do anything! A replacement battery costs $99 and is a complete rip-off. Dyson needs to build products and parts that can last beyond minimal usage!

While the cordless machines do have a 2-year warranty, we support the machines for as long as you have them with diagnostic steps to isolate an issue.     Scratches hardwood floors. Didn’t realize until after 15 day return window so can’t return it.

If you have something in your home such as hardwood, you may wish to confer with your flooring manufacturer to see if they recommend using a spinning brush bar on their flooring.     Wish I had followed my instinct when I read the review from the guy who said that it does not pick up on hard floors. They expect you to use the rotator which scratches wood floors or this tiny brush attachment. They send you a form letter when you write them that does not address the issue. After repeated contact they finally tell you a regular floor attachment (which should have been included) will cost you another 80 bucks. It works no better than the shark on rugs. The only plus is the cordless stick. If you need to vacuum bare floors do NOT purchase the V8 animal stick. It just blows the pieces away and you have to use a broom. It works no better than a cheaper vacuum on rugs. Waste of money. Horrible customer service. Wish I could return it.

The Dyson V8 Animal features a direct-drive cleaner head, with gentle carbon fiber bristles safe for any flooring type, but powerful enough to pick up debris from both bare floors and carpets. We do also have an Absolute model available, which comes equipped with a second cleaner head; the soft roller. This particular floor tool was engineered for use specifically on bare/hard floor surfaces.

      Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. We appreciate you taking the time to share this with us. Your machine does offer two powerful modes of suction; MAX and regular. MAX is intended for those hard to tackle messes, where a boost of suction might be needed. This mode provides about 7 minutes of run time. In regular mode, run time is up to 40 minutes (30 when using a motorized attachment). If you feel that your V8 might be malfunctioning, we do offer a two-year warranty on this product.     Bought my Dyson and loved it for a year and a half, then it wouldn’t charge and started acting funny. For that much money you’d think they would last longer. Meanwhile the shark I bought at the same time is still working and performs better than the Dyson. Sorry Dyson, I’m not buying your products anymore.

    These are expensive toys that fall apart when warranty expires. I’ve owned 2 Dyson vacuums. The V8 was great for 13 months and its out of warranty so time to throw away! I’ve had vacuums last 20 years but these are cheap plastic with a lot of advertising BS. I learned my lesson.

    I was so hopeful this would help me with quick cleaning while struggling with back issues. This machine while light would never hold a charge. Did not get to use is more than a couple of times. Sadly a waste of money!
