I've owned uprights from Dyson for as long as I can remember and loved them. I tried other brands but nothing compared to a Dyson. I can confidently say that the stick vacuum is just as good if not better. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because of the battery life and how I wished I had purchased the V10 model. But that was my mistake.

That kills it for me. I bought one for 1/2 the price and the battery lasts 40 min. This one lasts 15 max!

Posted .Hello, this is Kelly with Dyson. Your Dyson V8™ cordless offers two powerful suction modes - regular and MAX. MAX provides a boost of suction for larger debris or more stubborn messes. This mode should not be utilized for your everyday cleaning, as it will only give you about 7 minutes of run time. Regular suction is generally suitable for every household, and gives up to 40 minutes of run time (30 when using a motorized tool). This is a dust-buster deluxe. It has mos tof the bells and whistles of a regular vacuum, but the small canister and limited runtime make it unsuitable for full house-cleaning. THAT SAID: if the fog jumps up on the sofa and leaves a pile of hair just before guests arrive, don't get out the big one with the hose, pull this off the charger and that hair will be gone quickly. It is absolutely wizard at small jobs, and the canister empties cleaner than any other bagless vac I've ever had (more than 20 over the years). The brushes are easy to clean too. Before you buy, make sure you've got a place to hang it on the wall near an electrical outlet.
