      Hello Leiska, this is Kelly with Dyson. Your Dyson V8™ cordless offers two powerful suction modes - regular and MAX. MAX provides a boost of suction for larger debris or more stubborn messes. This mode should not be utilized for your everyday cleaning, as it will only give you about 7 minutes of run time. Regular suction is generally suitable for every household, and gives up to 40 minutes of run time (30 when using a motorized tool).     We had the v7 animal. Comparing them both on suction the v8 takes it by a bit. Parts wise, they have and use them same so no difference. Overall we like this one better.

    I love this vacuum so much! It works great on pet hair! The only down side is that I wish the battery lasted longer but aside from that I would totally recommend!
