    We enjoy using the new Dyson. Replaced an older Dyson model. We have nearly 2,000 square feet of wood flooring and it works really well when we either of us “sweeps” the floor. We expect to get several years of use because Dyson builds quality products. We gave in an average rating of quality and value only because of the newness of the new device.

      Hello Gabrielemy, this is Kelly with Dyson. Thank you for sharing your review of the Dyson V8 Animal. I'm happy to hear how pleased you've been with the power of this machine, along with how easy it is to clean. We know that battery run time is a very important aspect of performance for our owners, so we developed a trigger that helps maximize the amount of time you can clean on one charge. We chose a light-touch trigger over an on/off switch to ensure that battery life is never wasted by letting the machine run when it's not in active use. You do have the option to place the battery back on the dock, or plug it back in to the charger, before the battery has been completely depleted; this may help alleviate long charge times, if the battery has some power remaining.

      It is certainly safe to leave your vacuum on the charger. The battery and charger communicate to ensure that once the battery is charged the charger will not overcharge the battery and will power off. You will notice during charging that as soon as the battery is charged the light located on the plug of the charger will power off. It is also important to note that it is not recommended to charge the vacuum right after use. It is recommended to allow the unit to cool for a few minutes before reconnecting it onto the charger to ensure the battery is not damaged due to being charged while still warm.

    I own a Dyson vac which works unbelievably well, so I thought this product would be just as good. It’s ok at most. The suction just isn’t enough for my floors. With 3 young ones at the kitchen table, this unit is used nightly. I use the power suction mode, which does the job, but it only lasts about 10 mins.

      Hello Pete, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry that you've found the suction to be lacking in your Dyson V8 Animal. The V8 Animal features a direct-drive cleanerhead, with gentle carbon fiber bristles safe for any flooring type, but powerful enough to pick up debris from both bare floors and carpets. While the machine will offer less run time in MAX power mode, most households find standard power sufficient for everyday messes. When using your machine in MAX with the direct-drive Motorhead, run time will be approximately 7 minutes. Dyson Animal variants come equipped with a mini motorized head which is designed to pick up pet hair from furniture and stairs. You can also use this tool with the machine in MAX power for optimum pick-up, if you find that standard power is leaving pet hair behind.
