    I paid a lot of money for this item, even on sale, and i've only used it a handful of times in the year and a half since I bought it. Was planning to return it because I realized it won't stand on its own, but missed the return window, finally plugged it in and charged but it never holds a charge it seems. When you push the button, even after it's been "charging" for months without use, it runs, stops, have to keep pressing the button. I'll be contacting Dyson about this. It sucks. Actually, it doesn't suck... as a vacuum should.

      Hello Betty, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're glad to hear that you found the Dyson V8 so easy to use. Your machine comes with two modes of suction, regular and MAX. While using your machine in MAX, you'll have a boost of suction for larger debris or more stubborn messes. If you are finding that debris is being left behind or difficult to pick up you can switch your machine over to MAX mode. In regular, you'll have enough suction for everyday household cleaning, along with longer run times.

    It hasn’t been a month and it stopped working, it’s not taking any charge at all. I have no idea what to do with it because I cannot return the item.

    DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I have had this less than 2 years and the battery will not hold a charge longer than 5 minutes after being full charged over night! So disappointed

Dyson V8 Animal cordless is a hassle-free vacuum with powerful suction. The powerful direct-drive cleaner head removes ground-in dirt and pet hair from carpets, and self-adjusts to pick up dirt and debris from your bare floors.  

      Dyson V8 Animal also features two suction modes; MAX and standard. Please keep in mind that the V8 offers plenty of suction on normal power to effectively clean your floors because of the motorized brush bar. MAX power is really only needed for tough cleaning jobs. Also, while many do use Dyson cordless machines as their main vacuum at home, if you prefer a longer run time, we’d recommend one of our compact uprights or canister models.
