Good game for a 1st effort.

People expecting an arcade fighter will be dissapointed. But people looking for something in the middle will be happy. You do have to manage stamina, so you can't just throw caution to the wind. However moves that would seem to have a high exertion rate don't seem to deplete your stamina enough. Still just wildly throwing is a good way to get KO'd or Submitted.
