The Echo Dot Kids is designed with parental controls and age-appropriate content through Amazon Kids+, which intentionally limits access to certain platforms like YouTube to provide a safer, more controlled environment for children. I'm glad you were able to exchange it for a regular Echo Dot that better suits your family's needs, as the standard Echo Dot does support YouTube Music and can access YouTube content through compatible Fire TV devices or Echo Show displays. That’s all I wanted from it. It comes with a subscription to Amazon kids which you need to disable right away unless you specifically want this speaker for children I disabled that Amazon makes it difficult to disable. It have to do it the Alexa app but it can be done.

It looks cute and my kid loves telling it to read him stories and music, so that part is great. As far as whether the product is a good idea in general...up for debate, but it does what is supposed to do. Most of the time...
